Abstract: An apparatus for fabricating an identification bracelet intended for immediate application without modification to an object to be identified upon the issuance of the bracelet from the apparatus incorporates a source of bracelet strip material; information imparting means for imparting information regarding the object and storing it upon the surface of a strip; fastener transfer means for applying fastener means to the strip at only one extremity of the strip; severance means for separating the strip into bracelet lengths conformable to the size of the object to be identified; and an exit from said apparatus whereby said bracelet is delivered to the user with said fastener means exposed for immediate application of said bracelet.
Abstract: "A method for fabricating a sheet assemblage ultimately extensible into a honeycomb core structure, including the steps of locating upper and lower metallic foil sheets with their confronting surfaces in uniform continuous engagement with each other and forming successive, staggered laser welded patterns as successive sheets are added to the assemblage.
Abstract: A laminated identification bracelet which incorporates a window type pocket created by not adhering the pocket area of the lamina which incorporates it to the underlying lamina.
Abstract: A housing or holder for a memory chip button is useful as part of an identification bracelet assembly. The housing or holder preferably includes a body portion and a closure portion, such as an integral snap-type closure or sliding cover to overly the body portion and the button. The housing can be permanently or demountably fastened to a strap or bracelet, such as through use of a stud and socket structure or by openings in the housing which receive the strap. Alternatively, the strap can be integral with the housing. The strap can also function to help retain the button in the housing. A preferred method of use includes storing information in a chip button, inserting the chip button in a selected holder, attaching the holder/chip assembly to a person or thing to be associated with the stored information, and transmitting or otherwise reading or accessing the information in the chip.
Abstract: A closure means for an identification band or bracelet includes integrally formed, unidirectionally engagement means to permit the bracelet to be further tightened, but not loosened, after assembly of the bracelet about a portion of a person or an object. In the preferred embodiment, the closure includes a body portion that is attached to a first end of the bracelet, and an opening to receive the second end of the bracelet after the bracelet has been placed in an encircling relationship about the person or object to be identified. The body portion is preferably configured as a sleeve having a rectangular cross-section, with one or more deformable mounting posts configured to be placed through a corresponding one or more mating openings in the first end of the bracelet and thereafter deformed to retain the first end of the bracelet on the body portion. Also in the preferred embodiment, the engagement means includes one or more protruding teeth having biting extremities adjacent the opening in the body portion.
Abstract: An identification bracelet includes a shield or cover such as a liner affixed thereto. The bracelet includes an adhesive closure acting between the ends of the bracelet to maintain the bracelet in a desired encircling relationship about an object, and the cover prevents the premature exposure and attachment of the adhesive. In an alternative embodiment, the shield includes a bonding strip to accomplish the relatively permanent affixation of the shield to the bracelet. The shield preferably includes a non-adhesive surface on the portion of the shield that confronts the adhesive prior to engaging the bracelet about the object to be identified.

Abstract: A core structure, apparatus, and method which utilize laser bonding to fabricate the core structure. The core structure is characterized by laser bonds in patterns between adjacent sheets of aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium foil which create honeycomb core structures when the bonded stack of sheets is expanded by the application of tensional forces thereto. The apparatus achieves the fabrication of the core structure and the steps of the method are practised by either hand or utilization of the apparatus.
Abstract: A wiping device for caulking which can be applied for use in conjunction with a caulking gun, mounted on a caulking gun or mounted on a caulking tube and which wipes and smooths the surface of the caulking immediately after it is deposited from the nozzle of the caulking tube.
Abstract: A guard for a cannula is characterized by an outer tubular sheath slidably disposed about the cannula. The tubular sheath includes first engagement tabs to engage the cannula and facilitate insertion of the cannula into a patient. Simultaneously with removal of the cannula from the patient, the cannula and specifically its distal end may be slidably withdrawn into the outer sheath. Second engagement tabs permit permanent retention of the distal end of the cannula within the outer sheath. The first engagement tabs are preferably demountable from the sheath to facilitate ease of disposal of the used components.
Abstract: A honeycomb seal construction which includes said seal and a mounting ring therefor, said seal having honeycomb cells and being in a press-fit relationship with said mounting ring, there being a brazed joint between the seal and said ring defined by brazing material deposited in said cells at the OD of said seal.
Abstract: A bicycle stand includes a flexible supporting arm adapted to be retracted into coiled condition within an associated housing. When extended from the housing, the arm is angularly oriented by guide means on the housing. A brake keeps the supporting arm extended.
Abstract: Apparatus for installation of honeycomb core seals in jet engine mounting rings, including spray deposition of brazing alloy in seals and establishment of compressive relationships between seal and ring prior to brazing of seal in ring.
Abstract: A container bail incorporates securement means cooperative with retaining means on a container, said securement means having a head receivable in a receptor opening in the retaining means which is of totally different size and configuration from the receptor opening in the securement means which creates an interference fit materially reducing the likelihood of inadvertent dislodgement of the securement means from the retaining means. The bail also incorporates flexibility at critical points which augments the tendency of the retaining means to remain operatively associated with the securement means.
Abstract: A posture improvement device is provided, in which a predetermined amount of tension in a belt around the wearer's waist closes a switch and activates a buzzer, vibration motor, or other indicating means in a belt buckle of said belt. Means are provided to adjust the amount of tension required to achieve said closing of said switch. By maintaining sufficient tautness in his or her abdominal and lower back muscles, the wearer can maintain the tension in the belt below the predetermined threshold level, and correspondingly maintain desired improved posture. Conversely, slouching or relaxation of said muscles closes said switch and signals the wearer to improve his or her posture.
Abstract: A crank mechanism is provided which has a first driven member constituted by a first shaft, and a second driven member constituted by a sleeve member-disposed around said first shaft. The sleeve member is retained in support means such that the sleeve member and the first shaft can rotate relatively to one another. A rotating arm is connected to the sleeve member, and attachment means is slidable along said rotating arm. First linkage means is provided between said attachment means and said first shaft, and second linkage means is provided between said sleeve member and said first shaft, whereby said attachment means can selectively describe any of a range of circular or elliptical paths. In the preferred embodiment, the linkage means are adjustable and include a counter-rotating arm associated with said first shaft, and a second shaft and a third shaft and gears associated therewith and with said first shaft, which gears transmit rotational movement from said first shaft to said sleeve member.
Abstract: A security fastener for non-releasably securing an identification band to a person or object which includes carrier means located inside the lower extremity of said band, the carrier means incorporating fastener means insertable through openings in the upper and lower extremities of the band. Receptor means is provided in a security shroud which overlies the upper extremity of the band, locking means being engagable with the fastener means to maintain said shroud in said overlying relationship.
