Abstract: A prosthetic foot is characterized by an attachment section and plurality of curvilinear foot portions extending downwardly from the attachment section to contact a supporting surface. The portions are capable of movement independent from one another. Preferably, the plurality of foot portions is fabricated by dividing a forefoot portion and a heel portion demountably attached thereto. Such division may be achieved by the provision of a slot in said forefoot and heel portions. A strap or similar expedient is provided to limit the movement of the foot portions relative to each other.
Abstract: A fluid dispensing system is provided which has first diaphragm pump means, a filter connected to receive the discharge of the first pump, and second diaphragm pump means connected to the receive the discharge of said filter. Hydraulic fluids pumped by cylinder/piston/stepper assemblies independently actuate each of the diaphragm pumps, providing accurate, controllable and repeatable dispense of the subject fluid. In addition, pressure sensing means are provided to indicate the pressure of the actuating hydraulic fluids, and computer controller means may be utilized to monitor, adjust and control the rates and intervals of filtering and dispense of the system in response to said pressure sensing means or otherwise.

Abstract: A corneraide device is provided for finishing joints at the intersection of two or more surfaces. The corneraide includes a substantially planar central web with bead members along the edges thereof. Operatively associated with the bead members and extending therefrom are flange members adapted for alignment with the two or more surfaces. Joint compound, wallboard mud, stucco or some similar formable finishing or coating material is applied over the flange members and fayed from the bead members over the respective flange members to the respective surfaces. The corneraide of the invention permits ready alignment on the intersection and efficient application of finishing material thereon. Various embodiments and adaptations of the invention may be utilized to finish arches, window corners, exposed three-way corners, and other structures.
Abstract: A container lid is characterized by a flange having reinforcing ribs with their axes disposed non-perpendicularly to said flange. The reinforcing ribs may be relatively thin in comparison to prior art devices and permit an increased flexibility of the flange, providing improved shock absorption capabilities and ease of installation and removal of the lid, and improved automation thereof.
Abstract: A prosthetic foot characterized by a forefoot portion having a heel portion demountably and interchangeably connected thereto. The forefoot portion and heel portion are fabricated from polymer impregnated and encapsulated laminates, including such laminates as carbon fibers and/or fiberglas or synthetic fibers such as Kevlar. The demountable connection of the heel portion permits interchangeability of heel and forefoot portions to match the weight, stride and activity schedule of the wearer utilizing the prosthetic foot.
Abstract: A removable, protective book cover is provided which includes a jacket portion removably mountable in operative relationship with the binding of a book and having transparent overlay sheets secured thereto which may be disposed in operative relationship with the relevant pages of the book with which the cover is associated, said sheets incorporating hinges which facilitate the juxtaposition of the underside of the transparent overlay sheets in operative relationship with the relevant pages of the book so that maximum perception of the printed or other material on the page may be achieved by the person utilizing the book. Retaining element is provided to retain the cover in a desired closed, protective configuration between periods of usage.

Abstract: A fastening pin, or peg is partially inserted into an aligned aperture and attached thereto by a webbed flashing. In a one-step assembly operation, the pin is driven further into the aperture as the flashing is broken and driven through an aligned aperture of a second component.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handwriting analysis wherein a signature or other writing can be subjected to comparison with a reference signature. The apparatus and method rely on the collection of measurements of the optical density of a plurality of elements in the specimen and selectively retaining said measurements and then comparing each density measurement to a threshold value. Ultimately, only those density measurements are retained which are located within a bounded locus. After the retained density measurements have been established, they are automatically compared to the measurements of the specimen signature to permit the apparatus to accept or reject the signature on the presented document.

Abstract: A sheet-feeding device for feeding individual sheets to the platen of a printing apparatus from a single storage unit or a plurality of storage units is provided. The sheet-feeding device incorporates selecting discs incorporating a switching arrangement for the purpose of establishing a driving connection with the associated printing apparatus to a separating roller for withdrawing a sheet from the selected storage unit. In the storage units which have not been selected, the switching disc prevents inadvertent activation of the non-selected storage units by a blocking device controlled by a counter which permits the switching arrangement to be blocked during the printing process in order to prevent undesired sheet feeding.

Abstract: A perimetrical watch protector has a protector or guard portion located perimetrically of the face of the watch and has resilient retainer lugs formed integrally with said protector or guard portion. The retainer lugs include downwardly extending resilient lugs which overlie the adjacent portions of the edge of the watch, and retainer bands are formed integrally therewith which engage the back of the watch.
Abstract: A prosthesis fabricated from filamentary laminates including a pylon having an upper extremity, a shin portion, an ankle portion and a forwardly extending foot portion, all integral with one another. A separate heel portion is secured directly to the foot portion and is provided in different modules of stiffness which serve, when secured to the foot portion, to greatly enhance the life-like movement of the foot and the entire prosthesis. The pylon is provided in different modules to match the weight and activity levels of a wide spectrum of individuals.
Abstract: An auxiliary adjusting device for the shoulder belt of a vehicular seat restraint system having a first, upper attachment point and a second, lower attachment point which includes engagement means engageable with said shoulder belt between said upper and lower attachment points to provide an intermediate attachment point which will permit the shoulder belt to be adjusted to conform to the height of individuals occupying the vehicular seat. The engagement means is adjustably secured in operative relationship with the vehicle by adjustment means which permit the engagement means to be shifted upwardly and downwardly to vary the height of the shoulder belt.
Abstract: The device may be of the type having a horizontally open display section along the major portion of at least one side thereof which is maintained cool by a cool air flow stream passing downwardly through the display section, rearwardly of the section, and then upwardly and forwardly back to its point of origination to begin another cooling cycle. The air flow stream is maintained cool by a refrigeration system preferably having an upper condenser assembly and a lower evaporator assembly with an improved condensate dissipator assembly just beneath and in flow communication with the condenser assembly. This dissipator assembly may include a multiplicity of pans mounted spaced apart one beneath the other arranged for the condenser assembly warm air to pass therethrough above and beneath the pans with condensate from the evaporator assembly coil being directed into at least the uppermost of the pans.
Abstract: A liquid suspension separator of simple, one-piece construction is provided for field tests such as bovine testing. The liquid suspension separator includes a housing having a separator chamber incorporating a filter body characterized by its ability to laterally filter the particulates of the suspension from the liquid component thereof. The housing incorporates eluant, liquid suspension and discharge ports and the liquid component of the suspension can be immediately collected to permit a test or tests to be run thereupon. One of the embodiments of the separator includes a test chamber which already incorporates a test specimen reactive to the liquid component of the suspension to permit an immediate test to be conducted in the field.
Abstract: A transport device for paper sheets incorporates driven rollers which frictionally engage the paper sheets and are mounted on shafts arranged parallel with one another in the transport direction. Filaments extending in the transport direction are utilized to bias the paper sheets from below against the rollers. The filaments permit the paper sheets to glide or slide thereover and extend between the rollers in a lower tangential plane, said filaments being mounted elastically at one extremity thereof. A slight inclination of the shafts of the rollers causes the paper sheets to be transported while engaging a lateral guiding edge to accomplish transportation of said sheet in an accurately aligned manner.
