Abstract: In a non-limiting, exemplary embodiment, electrical power is adaptively managed. A profile of predetermined threshold levels of electrical loading is developed for phases of an operation. A profile of electrical loading is developed for the phases of the operation such that electrical loading is substantially a same predetermined margin below the predetermined threshold levels during the phases of the operation. During the phases of the operation, operational data indicative of an electrical power generation system's actual ability to support electrical loading and/or actual electrical loading is received. The profile of the predetermined threshold levels and/or the profile of electrical loading is adjusted responsive to the operational data such that electrical loading is maintained substantially the same predetermined margin below the predetermined threshold levels during the phases of the operation.

Abstract: Methods and systems for problem detection related to received Internet data, video data, and voice data are disclosed. A method may include monitoring, at a set top box device, Internet data to detect a first problem related to the Internet data. The method may further include monitoring, at the set top box device, video data to detect a second problem related to the video data. The method may include automatically taking a first action upon detecting the first problem and automatically taking a second action upon detecting the second problem.

Abstract: A method to deliver video content is disclosed and includes sending a bandwidth change request from a set-top box device associated with a home network to a server via an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) access network. The bandwidth change request includes a requested bandwidth change event and an upper limit overhead bandwidth factor. The method also includes receiving video packets related to the bandwidth change event from the server at an increased rate corresponding to the upper limit overhead bandwidth factor.

Abstract: A satellite transponder switch (STS) maintains a table that maps set-top boxes (STBs) to carrier frequencies. The STS receives a first request from a first STB for a first transponder band and a second request from a second STB for a second transponder band. The STS receives contact from the first STB on a control channel upon power-up of the first STB and in response to the contact from the first STB, assigns a first carrier frequency to the first STB. The STS frequency shifts the first transponder band to a first carrier frequency assigned to the first STB and the second transponder band to a second carrier frequency assigned to the second STB. The STS outputs a signal that comprises the frequency-shifted first and second transponder bands to the first STB and the second STB. The frequency-shifted first and second transponder bands are separated by a separation band. A first carrier frequency of the signal is unique to the first STB and a second carrier frequency of the signal is unique to the second STB.

Abstract: A method of providing program recommendations is disclosed that includes receiving a plurality of recommendations related to a television program listed by an electronic program guide from a plurality of first set-top box devices. Further, the method includes receiving a request for the electronic program guide from a second set-top box device. The method also includes determining an aggregated total of the plurality of recommendations, wherein a weighting factor is applied to each recommendation received from one of the plurality of first set-top box devices that is associated with a community related to the second set-top box device.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of providing modified media content is disclosed and includes receiving media content that includes audio data and video data having a first number of video frames. The method also includes generating abstracted media content that includes portions of the video data and audio elements of the audio data, where the abstracted media content includes less than all of the video data and includes fewer video frames than the first number of video frames.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed. In a particular embodiment, the system includes a repository configured to store information comprising classification components. The information is received from a plurality of locations where the information is captured from one or more radio frequency identification (RFID) tags at each of the plurality of locations. Each of the one or more RFID tags is associated with at least one item. The repository is also configured to store market data comprising at least one geographic restriction associated with the at least one item.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a drawing file and an interface application are activated. Geometry data is extracted from the drawing file with the interface application. In another embodiment, contents of a geometry file can be automatically read into a drawing application to create a drawing file. Contents of the geometry data file may be revised before being read. In another embodiment, a finite element model can be generated. A control file for an item to be modeled is selected. Contents of the selected control file and part geometry data files identified in the selected control file are read. A finite element model for each part is generated simultaneously from all of the part geometry data files. When more than one part geometry data files are identified in the control file, all of the finite element models of the parts can be integrated into a finite element model of a product.

Abstract: A service context associated with a container is pushed to a thread executing an asynchronous aspect outside of the container. A thread may be initiated outside of the container to asynchronously run the aspect. The service context(s) associated with the container may be communicated to the thread executing the aspect outside the container. In this manner, the aspect may execute outside of the container for increased efficiency for considerations, while having access to resources by virtue of the service contexts passed on from the container.

Abstract: A method of emailing photographs from a set top box is disclosed and includes presenting a menu of photographs at a television coupled to the set top box. The photographs within the menu can be highlighted using a remote control device. The method further includes presenting an email button at the television and presenting an address book. The address book contains at least one recipient email address. Further, the method includes sending an email addressed to the at least one recipient email address. In particular, the email includes a return email address that causes a response to the email to be sent to a location other than the set top box.

Abstract: A SIM card comprising at least a first interface and a second interface different from the first interface is disclosed. In some embodiments, the SIM card is operative to receive data through the first interface, store the received data within the SIM card, and send back the stored data via the second interface. This enables a host operatively coupled with the SIM card to write data to the SIM card via the first interface and to read back the data via the second interface. Furthermore, a technique for extending the SIM EEPROM storage by keeping a portion of the file in flash is provided.

Abstract: A device includes a one-time-programmable memory including multiple random accessible input/output pins. Each random accessible I/O pin corresponds to a unique memory address in the one-time-programmable memory. The device also includes a multiplexing circuit with multiple inputs. Each of the multiple inputs is coupled to one of the multiple random accessible I/O pins. An output of the multiplexing circuit has a bit width that is less than the number of the multiple random accessible I/O pins.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are disclosed for managing goals and recommendations. A particular method includes identifying one or more financial planning objectives for a financial planning client, receiving information relating to the one or more financial planning objectives, and creating a financial planning goal for the financial planning client based at least in part on an analysis of the information. One or more financial planning recommendations are associated with the financial planning goal, and data identifying the financial planning goal and the one or more financial planning recommendations is stored in a data store. The method also includes monitoring progress of the financial planning client with respect to the financial planning goal over at least a portion of a financial planning lifecycle.

Abstract: In a particular system for monitoring of a composite workpiece, at least one ultrasonic testing transducer is mounted to a surface of the composite workpiece and configured to transmit and receive ultrasonic energy to and from the composite workpiece during mechanical loading of the composite workpiece. An ultrasonic pulser/receiver is operatively coupled to the at least one ultrasonic testing transducer. A computing system is operatively coupled to the ultrasonic pulser/receiver. The computing system includes a data acquisition component configured to acquire data from the ultrasonic puller/receiver and a data analysis component configured to analyze the acquired data. The data analysis component may be further configured to analyze the acquired data for initiation of failure of the composite workpiece and/or growth of failure of the composite workpiece. Further, failure of the composite workpiece may include cracking and/or delaminating and/or disbonding.

Abstract: A system for auditing telecommunication billing data comprises a rule-construction user interface and an audit component. The rule-construction user interface comprises a plurality of rule condition parameter menus to construct an audit rule for at least one telecommunication billing attribute. In a particular embodiment, before baselining the audit rule, a user can test rule conditions against actual data, and the user can compare multiple versions of a single audit rule to determine which version successfully identifies exceptions. The audit component is to perform an audit of a telecommunication billing data set for exceptions to the audit rule constructed using the rule-construction user interface. Once identified, the exceptions can be assigned to additional tool users to assist in exception investigation and maintenance using an exception maintenance component.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and program product facilitate the collaborative development of an algorithm by, in part, displaying an algorithm associated with a performance attribute, and receiving user input relating to the algorithm from a plurality of networked users. The performance attribute of the algorithm may be automatically modified based on the user input. The modified performance attribute may be displayed to the plurality of networked users. A query may be received from a user interested in the algorithm. In response to the user query, the algorithm may be located from among a plurality of algorithms. For instance, the algorithm may be located from among the plurality of algorithms by matching the performance attribute to a criterion of the user query. Alternatively or additionally, the algorithm may be located by matching the performance attribute to a profile of the user submitting the user query.

Abstract: A client of a telephone number mapping (ENUM) server is used to protect the ENUM server from a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. The DoS attack may comprise a plurality of attempts to place exception calls from one or more end user devices that are unregistered. The one or more end user devices may originate from a service provider network.

Abstract: Systems and methods of determining relationship information are provided. A system may include processing logic and memory accessible to the processing logic. The memory may include instructions executable by the processing logic to access communication data associated with at least one first party. The memory may also include instructions executable by the processing logic to analyze a plurality of communications between the at least one first party and at least one second party to determine relationship information descriptive of a relationship between the at least one first party and the at least one second party. The communication data may include a call log and an email log, and the plurality of communications may include at least one call and at least one email message.

Abstract: Systems and method to compress digital video based on human factors expressed as a desirability score are provided. A particular method includes selecting a compression level based on the desirability score for the particular media content. A first compression level is selected when the desirability score is a first desirability score and a second compression level that is higher than the first compression level is selected when the desirability score is a second desirability score that is higher than the first desirability score. The method also includes providing the compression level to an encoder. The encoder compresses the media content based on the compression level.

Abstract: At least one telephone network element receives an attempt of a caller to place a telephone call to a callee. A telephone number for the call is registered in a telephone number mapping (ENUM) database to receive incoming telephone calls via a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network. The at least one telephone network element receives an indication of a preference of the caller to carry the telephone call via one of a public switched telephone network (PSTN) and a public land mobile network (PLMN), instead of via the VoIP network. Based on the preference, the method inhibits an ENUM query of the ENUM database for the telephone call and forwards the telephone call to a gateway to carry the telephone call to the callee via one of the PSTN and the PLMN instead of via the VoIP network.
