  • Patent number: 6551015
Abstract: A method of and system used for venting out buildup of explosive gases in a manhole caused by an explosion and including a support frame, a two inch thick plate member positioned on top of the support frame, a plurality of restraining assemblies and a manhole cover for covering the manhole. The support frame and the plate member are embedded into a street and positioned above the manhole, where openings are aligned with the manhole. Three retaining assemblies are positioned on opposite sides of the manhole cover. Each retaining assembly includes a rod, a stop plate, a coil spring, a support plate and a nut. The rod extends downwardly through the dirt and the horizontal concrete base ledge, where the stop plate, the coil spring, the support plate and the nut are positioned and secured to the other end of the rod.

  • Patent number: 6551450
Abstract: An air and sonic massaging apparatus for providing an improved massaging effect with opposing lower air nodes beneath the upper air nodes in order to provide the user with greater displacement when patterned inflation and deflation of the device occurs. The apparatus includes an air device and a sonic device which is located underneath the air device. The air and sonic massaging apparatus inhibits turning forces and sideway motions, and keeps the motion more linear and at a higher consistent force. The apparatus has separate air flow circuits that provide alternating or conjoined patterns of inflation and deflation on a single device. The sonic device includes a sonic transducer that creates acoustic waves generated by a rigid transmission plate through movement by the translation of significant solid mass. The sonic device provides high magnitudes of acoustic energy to the directly coupled air device or directly coupled to the user's body air cavity.

  • Patent number: 6547109
Abstract: A pin pickup and article holder apparatus can be removably attachable to any metal surface of a sewing machine for retaining loose pins as well as loose sewing articles, such as chalk, spools of thread, buttons, beads, etc. The apparatus comprises a first body cushion and a second body cushion, where the first body cushion has a magnet that is embedded thereto so that the magnet can be removably attachable to any metal surface of the sewing machine. An elastic netting is attached to the first body cushion for retaining chalk, spools of thread, etc. thereto. A pen opening is provided on front of the first body cushion for retaining and securing a pen or writing instrument thereto. The second body cushion also has a magnet that is embedded thereto for being removably attachable to the magnet of the first body cushion.

  • Patent number: 6527004
Abstract: A vertical shock responsive fluid valve assembly capable of automatically closing a fluid valve in response to earthquake forces or other shock forces of a predetermined magnitude. The vertical shock responsive valve assembly has a flow control mechanism having a cradle that holds a movable ball in a recess at a point perpendicular in relation to a horizontal base plate, where the ball can be rotated 360° in any direction during seismic actions or other shock forces and rolls out of its recess at a predetermined force such that it ricochets off a housing cover covering the cradle and pushes a trip fork mechanism that is mounted on a pivoting parallelogram lever mechanism, thereby releasing a swing arm which has a disc on the end that functions as a plug for the hole in the valve body to interrupt gas or fluid flow therein.
