  • Patent number: 7231536
Abstract: Circuits, methods, and apparatus that prevent control signals from changing state while the control signals are being used to delay a read strobe signal. An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a control circuit that provides a plurality of control bits to a delay line, where the delay line delays or phase shifts a read strobe signal a duration, where the duration depends on the state of the control bits. The delayed read strobe signal is used to clock one or more data registers. To avoid undesired changes in the duration that the read strobe signal is delayed, the control bits are retimed before being provided to the delay line. A specific embodiment waits for an edge of the strobe signal to be output by the delay line before providing the control bits to the delay line. Another specific embodiment waits until no edge of the strobe signal is being delayed by the delay line before providing the control bits to the delay line.

  • Patent number: 7231503
Abstract: A storage system having multiple I/O interface ports is configured to detect a failed communication condition at a port. The storage system is configured to then attempt communication using a port configuration of another port that also exhibits a failed communication condition. • Patent number: 7229848
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling microstructures onto a substrate through fluid transport. The microstructures being shaped blocks self-align into recessed regions located on a substrate such that the microstructure becomes integral with the substrate. The improved method includes a step of transferring the shaped blocks into a fluid to create a slurry. Such slurry is then dispensed evenly or circulated over the top surface of a substrate having recessed regions thereon. The microstructure via the shape and fluid tumbles onto the surface of the substrate, self-aligns, and engages into a recessed region.

  • Patent number: 7230089
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for modulating the growth and/or yield of plants. In particular the methods comprise the use of agents which functionally inhibit the expression of plant D-like cyclin inhibitors including isolated polynucleotide sequences which interact with DNA or RNA encoding proteins capable of binding plant D-like cyclins. Further, the present invention provides recombinant polynucleotide sequences, vectors and host cells which encode proteins capable of binding to and inactivating the activity of plant D-like cyclin/cyclin dependent kinase complexes preventing plant cells from exiting the cell cycle. Methods for determining and agents which are inhibitors of the BRO cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor proteins which are capable of modulating plant cell cycle progression are also provided. Methods for the production of transgenic plant cells and plants with increased growth rates and yields when compared to wild-type plants are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7230619
Abstract: A respective weighting value is calculated for each texel in a texture map that is to be used to render a 3D computer model, the weighting value being calculated in dependence upon the red, green and blue values of the texel. Each weighting value is stored as an alpha value in the alpha channel for the corresponding texel in the texture map. During rendering, the texture map is rendered onto a polygon to generate R, G, B pixel values in the frame buffer together with a respective weighting value for each pixel comprising the weighting value calculated for the corresponding texel in the texture map, which is stored in the alpha channel for the pixel. A darkmap is rendered onto the polygon by subtracting from the pixel values in the frame buffer the darkmap values modulated by the frame buffer alpha values. The texel weighting values are calculated so that they have properties which result in a realistic image being generated.

  • Patent number: 7231578
Abstract: Techniques for detecting and correcting burst errors in data bytes formed in a two-level block code structure. A second level decoder uses block level check bytes to detect columns in a two-level block code structure that contain error bytes. The second level decoder generates erasure pointers that identify columns in the two-level block structure effected by burst errors. A first level decoder then uses codeword check bytes to correct all of the bytes in the columns identified by the erasure pointers. The first level decoder is freed to use all of the codeword check bytes only for error byte value calculations. The first level decoder does not need to use any of the codeword check bytes for error location calculations, because the erasure pointers generated by the second level decoder provide all of the necessary error locations. This techniques doubles the error correction capability of the first level decoder.

  • Patent number: 7228544
Abstract: In the prior art, a user bore a heavy burden on operating together different products having the same functions. A user 102 calls a job net managing function 105 via GUI/CLI 103, and defines a job net 106. A job net execution controlling function 109 interrupts a definition of the job net 106, and sequentially executes the defined jobs. The defined jobs call not real commands directly, but switchers 110 to 114 that define regularized interfaces. The switchers, referring to environment variables 101, select adaptors 115 and 116 properly to call real commands 117 and 118 corresponding thereto.

  • Patent number: 7227559
Abstract: A system provides an image displaying technique that provides stable high contrast even in an area having high brightness. Based on information about an average brightness level of a digital luminance signal, black-correction processing which decreases a brightness level by offsetting the brightness level to the minus side, and increase processing which increases a contrast gain within a dynamic range, are performed for an analog luminance signal or a digital luminance signal, enabling improvement in contrast even where brightness is intense.
