Abstract: The invention relates to a new method and system for optimizing the efficiency of an automotive catalytic converter by adjusting the engine air/fuel ratio based on estimates of the actual amount of oxidants stored in the catalyst. An available oxidant storage capacity of the catalyst is determined by establishing an oxidant set point location, i.e., a location in the catalyst about which the system controls the oxidant storage. The oxidant set point is established based on the temperatures of the different potential set point locations and the levels of deterioration of the different potential set point locations, as well as the oxidant storage capacity of the emission control device system.

Abstract: A phase-locked loop system, including a voltage controlled oscillator coupled with an error detector in a feedback configuration, so as to produce an output signal having a desired characteristic that is based on a reference signal. The system also includes a charge pump system coupled with the voltage controlled oscillator and configured to produce currents to control phase and frequency of the output signal. The charge pump system includes at least two charge pumps, one being configured to effect more rapid changes in the output signal than the other. This charge pump may be configured to deliver a higher charge pump current than the other charge pump, and/or may be activated intermittently upon detection of cycle slippage or another condition detectable during operation of the phase-locked loop system.
Abstract: An assembly for a projector include a lamp having a base portion, a lamp mount coupled to the lamp, and a unitary compliant member. The unitary compliant member may be coupled between the lamp mount and the lamp with substantially evenly spaced points of contact about the base portion of the lamp. The unitary compliant member supplies an axial force through a center of mass of the lamp to couple the lamp to the lamp mount.

Abstract: The PBX system includes an analog to digital, and digital to analog, (A/D) conversion where the sample size and the sample rate are selectively adjustable. The A/D structure includes registers which hold values indicating the sample size and the sample rate for the conversion. When the A/D structure is configured, the A/D structure reads the values in the register and configures itself to the sample rate and sample size indicated by the registers. When the sample size and sample rate is to be changed, the values in the registers are changed and the A/D structure is reconfigured.

The interior space (2) has elevations and/or depressions (7) along its inner jacket surface (6) or a polygonal cross section, so that the bearing shell (3), which is provided with an oversize in relation to the inner jacket surface (6), can be inserted into the housing (1) in a positive-locking manner while its outer surface undergoes a partial plastic deformation. The inner jacket surface (6) may have pressure zones (19) which shorten the effective length of the elevations and/or depressions (7).

Abstract: A method is disclosed for controlling operation of a engine coupled to an exhaust treatment catalyst. Under predetermined conditions, the method operates an engine with a first group of cylinders combusting a lean air-fuel mixture and a second group of cylinders pumping air only (i.e. without fuel injection.) In addition, the engine control method also provides the following features in combination with the above-described split air/lean mode: auto speed control, sensor diagnostics, air-fuel ratio control, adaptive learning, fuel vapor purging, catalyst temperature estimation, and default operation. In addition, the engine control method also disables the split air/lean operating mode under preselected operating conditions.
