Abstract: To provide a user-friendly core drill which, when forming a large-diameter cut hole by the core drill with respect to an object to be drilled, such as concrete, is able to easily form, for example, a chamfered portion or a countersunk portion with respect to an opening end portion of the cut hole. In a core drill comprising a base body including a shank and a drill core body including a drill cutting blade, a connection opening portion of the drill core body being attached to the base body, the connection opening portion of the drill core body is provided with a concave portion forming member including a large-diameter hole cutting blade, and the large-diameter hole cutting blade is provided outside the drill cutting blade in a radial direction of the connection opening portion.
Abstract: A training device for a self-rescuer is improved such that practical breathing parameters will become established. A granular filling of a material (7) is used that binds water molecules and generated heat of adsorption or heat of absorption in the process instead of an oxygen-releasing chemical.
Abstract: Systems and methods for processing a user speech input to determine whether the user has correctly read a target sentence string are provided. One disclosed method may include receiving a sentence array including component words of the target sentence string and processing the sentence array to generate a symbolic representation of the target sentence string. The symbolic representation may include a subset of words selected from the component words of the target sentence string, having fewer words than the sentence array. The method may include processing user speech input to recognize in the user speech input each of the words in the subset of words in the symbolic representation of the target sentence string. The method may further include, upon recognizing the subset of words, making a determination that the user has correctly read the target sentence string.
Abstract: A supercharger compressor includes a plurality of rotors rotatably mounted in a housing, a first inlet for air, a second inlet for recirculated exhaust gas, and a flow separator. The flow separator is arranged interior the housing and configured to form a slideable seal with at least one rotor of the plurality of rotors, the slideable seal fluidically isolating the first inlet from the second inlet, at least in part, and retarding pressure equalization therebetween.
Abstract: The dynamic updating of firewall parameters is described. One exemplary embodiment includes receiving a policy rule that includes a reference to a predefined container that specifies a permissible value range of at least one firewall parameter allowable under the policy rule, receiving a firewall parameter value, and populating the predefined container with the firewall parameter value if the firewall parameter value is within the permissible value range, thereby updating the policy rule.

Abstract: There is described a gas laser comprising a pair of substantially mutually parallel and opposed electrodes (17, 37), between which a volume is defined containing a gas in which said electrodes generate a discharge. At opposed ends of the electrodes, in said volume, mirrors (65) are arranged to define a resonant cavity. The electrodes form an integral part of two portions (5, 7) of a sealed housing (1), containing the gas and in which the mirrors and the electrodes are housed. The two portions (5, 7) forming the housing are electrically connected.

Abstract: The reduction of a NOx trap upon engine shutdown is disclosed. One disclosed embodiment comprises adjusting a timing of creating a reductive environment in the exhaust conduit upstream of the lean NOx trap based upon the determined engine stop position. The creation of a reductive environment in the exhaust conduit upstream of the lean NOx trap may help to at least partially reactivate the lean NOx trap during engine shutoff.

Abstract: Embodiments of battery holders with dual-contact assemblies are disclosed. One embodiment comprises a battery holder with a substrate and a spring dual-contact assembly, wherein the spring dual-contact assembly comprises a positive contact configured to contact a positive terminal of a battery positioned in the battery holder with the positive terminal oriented toward the spring dual-contact assembly and a negative contact configured to contact a negative terminal of a battery positioned in the battery holder with the negative terminal oriented toward the spring dual-contact assembly. The positive and negative contacts are coupled to an insulator configured to hold the positive contact and negative contact in a fixed relation to one another. Further, one or more cantilever wire springs hold the negative contact, positive contact and insulator in a resiliently displaceable relationship to the substrate.
Abstract: An approach is described that coordinates transmission shifting with changing between two-stroke and four-stroke combustion to improve shift and drive performance. In one example, responsive to a driver tip-in, the system may transition the engine to a two-stroke combustion mode from the four-stroke mode and increase a transmission gear ratio in order to avoid transmission shifts during the subsequent acceleration.

Abstract: A thermotherapy device with a reclining surface and with an inflatable hood for covering the reclining surface. The inflatable hood (1) is provided with a plurality of inflatable, tubular support elements (3) with plastic films (2) arranged between them, which tenter one or more surfaces between the support elements (3) in the inflated state.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for improving fluid usage while addressing knock by adjusting the use of spark retard and direct injection of a fluid based on engine operating conditions and the composition of the injected fluid. One or more engine parameters, such as EGR, VCT, boost, throttle position, are coordinated with the direct injection to reduce torque and EGR transients.

Abstract: A radio frequency detection system is provided that includes at least two radio frequency detection devices, which have an antenna each with a detection range for a radio frequency identification and detect the radio frequency identification information provided in the detection range. The radio frequency detection system is designed to attenuate a detection range of a detecting radio frequency detection device in the detection range of the at least one other radio frequency detection device by means of a compensation member such that the radio frequency identification cannot be detected by the detecting radio frequency detection device in the detection area of the at least one other radio frequency detection device.
Abstract: The presentation of visual feedback in an electronic entertainment system is disclosed. One disclosed embodiment relates to a method of providing user feedback in an electronic entertainment system, wherein the method comprises inviting an input from a user, receiving a user input via a hand-held remote input device, performing a comparison of the user input received to an expected input, assigning a rating to the user input received based upon the comparison to the expected input, and adjusting light emitted by one or more lights sources on the input device based upon the rating.
