Abstract: Holographic systems which shape coherent light beams are disclosed. These holographic systems may beam-shaping devices positioned in the path of coherent light beams to shape a coherent light beam into an essentially diffraction noise free coherent light beam of predetermined dimensions that has a continuous light beam profile of distinct intensity zones.

Abstract: An input signal is routed to a first logic one reference signal generator or alternatively routed to a second logic one reference signal generator based at least one a voltage level of the input signal. When the voltage level of the input signal is less than a threshold value, the first logic one reference signal generator selectively generates a first logic one reference signal. When the voltage level of the input signal is greater than or equal to the threshold value, the second logic one reference signal generator alternatively generates a second logic one reference signal. The first and second logic one reference signals may be used to control a first voltage scaling circuit that drives a scaled output signal having a logic one value corresponding to the voltage level of the first logic one reference signal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system, as well as articles and holographic recording medium comprising the system, where the system comprises: a polymerizable component comprising at least one photoactive polymerizable material; and a photoinitiator component comprising at least one photoinitiator for causing the polymerizable component to polymerize to thereby form a plurality of holographic gratings when activated by exposure to a photoinitiating light source; wherein when a portion of the polymerizable component has been polymerized to form at least one holographic grating, the unpolymerized portion of the polymerizable component is resistant to further polymerization when not exposed to the photoinitiating light source. The present invention also provides methods for forming at least one holographic grating in a holographic recording medium having such a photopolymerizable system.

Abstract: An Anti-Terrorism water quality monitoring system for continuously monitoring a potable water treatment system and related potable water distribution network that provides potable water to a municipality, city, housing development or other potable water consumer. The system includes the collection of data from the water distribution system and from the water treatment facility and from advanced separation processes which are integrated into analytical instruments. The data collected are stored in a remote database on a remote server computer or bank of computers and accessible by Homeland Security or its designated agency. Preferred parameters of monitoring include the turbidity and disinfectant such as chlorine, hypochlorous acid, sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, ozone, chlorine dioxide, chloramines, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed to translate memory write requests to be transmitted from a first processor to a second processor in a computing system, such as between a CPU and a Southbridge, as an example. A method includes generating a memory write request in a second protocol responsive to a memory write request of a first protocol, the first protocol supporting a first memory write command type and a second memory write command type, the second protocol supporting only the first memory write command type. The method also includes inserting a predefined code in the memory write request in the generated memory write request in the second protocol to produce a translated memory write request. The method may also include receiving the memory write request from the first processor where the memory write request is operable according to the first protocol having at least first and second memory write command types.

Abstract: A method and apparatus, such as a secure distribution server, receives encrypted information from a sender, wherein the encrypted information is for transmission to a plurality of intended recipients. In addition to the encrypted information, the method includes receiving an encrypted secret key that is encrypted using a public key associated with the secure distribution server. The method and apparatus decrypts the encrypted secret key to produce a decrypted secret key. The method and apparatus then encrypts the decrypted secret key with the corresponding public key of at least one (or each of a plurality of) intended recipient(s) to produce at least one (or plurality of) recipient-specific secure secret keys. The method and apparatus then forwards the received encrypted information sent by the sender and also sends at least one recipient-specific secure secret key to a corresponding intended recipient.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing net power consumption in a computer system includes identifying a plurality of processing states operable to execute a task. A processing state and current drain pattern is selected that is most power efficient. A selected processing state may include one or more processing elements of the computer system such as one or more processors or accelerators and indicates the manner in which one or more portions of the received task may be distributed among the processing elements of the computer system. The current drain pattern selected may be a constant current drain pattern or a pulsed current drain pattern and may be selected to optimize power consumption when executing the task among the one or more processing elements.

The output stage is operative to receive the clock signal. The output stage is also operative to generate a first and second output signal based on the clock signal and the first and second input signals. The delay stage is operatively coupled to the input and output stages. The delay stage includes a first and second branch. The second branch includes at least one more delay element than the first branch.
Abstract: A program information player automatically skips over any intermediate channel changes as a result of interrupting a prior recording of a selected program. The program information player includes a program sequence playback information generator. The program sequence playback information generator analyzes selected program identifier information and recorded program history log information and, in response, generates program sequence playback information without user intervention. The program sequence playback information includes a sequence of time stamp information associated with the selected program identifier information. According to one embodiment, the program sequence playback information directs memory to play back the selected program corresponding to the selected program identifier information by, for example, skipping over any intermediate channel changes. For example, the program sequence playback information may represent a read pointer in memory during playback.
Abstract: In an electronic device including a processor interface and a processor interconnected to the processor interface by a bus, activity on the bus is monitored and in response to inactivity, the processor interface is placed in a lower power consumption mode. While in the lower power consumption mode, processor requests to the processor interface are inhibited.
Abstract: A method for testing a wireless transceiver embedded within a wireless data communication system that also includes a host processor with minimal interaction between the wireless transceiver and the host processor during such testing. Abstract: Disclosed herein are aminopyridinium cations and compositions containing these cations. Piperidino pyridinium cations and compositions containing these cations are also described. Ionic compositions, particularly liquid ionic compositions that contain the aminopyridinium cation or piperidino pyridinium cation are also described. Methods of enhancing the thermal stability of a compound, particularly an ionic compound, using the aminopyridinium or piperidino pyridinium cations, are also presented. Compositions having an expanded liquidus range of from about ?73° C. to about 444° C. are also described. Solvents, heat transfer fluids, and lubricants having improved thermal stability characteristics and an expanded and improved liquidus range are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for initializing operation for information security operation for an entity utilizes shared information, such as shared secret information, that may be shared between the entity and other applications or operations within a system to initialize an entity. Prestored shared information that can be used as entity identification data (RV) and authentication data (IAK) that is associated with the entity identification data is encrypted and sent in clear text fashion to an initialization authentication unit, such as a server or other processing unit. The initialization authentication unit requests stored shared data from another processing unit that maintains a database. The other processing system then responds to the request by providing prestored shared data that can be used to, for example, decrypt the encrypted information sent in a clear text fashion to determine whether an entity is a proper user of the information security operation.
