Abstract: A method of improving debt collection from a debtor acquires pertinent debtor information in real time or near-real-time. Newly acquired debtor information is used in a debt collection decision procedure which determines the appropriate debt collection strategy to use with a debtor based upon the most recently acquired information. A preliminarily used debt collection procedure can be adapted or modified in real time, or on-the-fly, using the most up-to-date information, which is typically best acquired during a debt collection process.

Upstream and downstream amplifiers, powered by upstream and downstream power supply voltages, respectively, process an original control signal to produce a differential signal via output signal electrodes. Capacitances coupling respective ones of the output signal electrodes to the downstream power supply voltage and the circuit reference potential discharge and charge respective ones of the output signal electrodes in relation to initial receptions of the upstream and downstream power supply voltages and original control signal, following which voltage clamp circuitry maintains such discharged and charged states pending reception of the original control signal in a predetermined state.

The network element (14) logs a billing event associated with the unsolicited content (40) in response to wireless device use indication data (42) that represents that the wireless device (12) used the unsolicited content (40) at a later time.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for generating signal gain coefficients for use in packet data communication between a single-input-single-output (SISO) transceiver and a single-input-multiple-output/multiple-input-single-output (SIMO/MISO) transceiver. Coordinate rotation digital computation (CORDIC) techniques are used to generate transmit channel coefficients which are substantially complementary to receive channel coefficients representing relative strengths of individual signals received via multiple spatially diverse antenna elements and corresponding to a wireless data signal originating from a particular SISO radio frequency (RF) transceiver. Using such transmit channel coefficients to produce outgoing RF signals for transmission via the same antenna elements and reception by such particular SISO RF transceiver provides for signal transmission and reception diversity.
Abstract: A decision feedback equalizer with dynamic feedback control for use in an adaptive signal equalizer. Timing within the decision feedback loop is dynamically controlled to optimize recovery of the data signal by the output signal slicer. The dynamic timing is controlled by a signal formed as a combination of feedback and feedforward signals. The feedback signal is an error signal related to a difference between pre-slicer and post-slicer signals. The feedforward signal is formed by differentiating and delaying the incoming data signal.

The one or more side panels contain die-cut windows covered with acetate sheets or cels for viewing the artwork on the back section and may also contain artwork or images providing a three-dimensional effect for the images or artwork.
Abstract: A TV signal reception system is configured to include adjustable components and a controller to provide instructions to adjust the adjustable components. By pre-arranging configurations corresponding to multiple variants of world wide TV standards, the TV signal reception system may avoid the hardware costs of accomplishing the reception of multiple standards of with parallel hardware for each standard and/or variant.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for protection of computer assets from unauthorized access is described. A protection engine is incorporated into microprocessor support circuitry to control access to computer assets, for example, BIOS memory and peripheral devices. The protection engine is capable of monitoring the state of an switch and controlling access to computer assets based, in part, on the state of the switch. The protection engine is capable of authenticating the source of interface control commands using cryptographic techniques. The protection engine provides protection against computer viruses, malicious cookies and java/javascript applets, macros, unauthorized remote access to a computer system, and other forms of unauthorized access.
Abstract: A windshield for a motorcycle, which when compared to other, earlier windshields, having a more upright profile and which also has a larger radius of curvature when viewed from the top, and a greater width towards the top as opposed to a shield having a tapering profile with a narrower portion at the top.
Abstract: A variable reference voltage circuit controllable in closed loop, for calibrating off-chip and on-chip drivers, margining and optimizing a reference voltage, for interfaces such as DDR2 or any other suitable interface. In one example, the on-chip variable reference voltage circuit, coupled to external fixed reference voltage, includes control logic and an array of switchable resistor elements (pull-up and pull-down resistors) that may each be selectively switched in or out of the circuit to change the reference voltage being supplied to an on-chip receiver.
Abstract: An apparatus for processing variable length coded data includes a coefficient buffer unit and several lookup tables. The coefficient buffer unit includes a coefficient memory and an index register for storing an indication of a non-zero nature of coefficients stored in the coefficient memory. Advantageously, the lookup tables may be altered to adapt the apparatus for processing variable length coded data to handle encoding or decoding video adhering to a specific standard. Furthermore, the lookup tables may be adapted to accelerate the determination of the presence of escape codes and the subsequent handling of the escape codes.

Abstract: An n bit D/A decoder is formed using P-type and N-type transistor switches, instead of convention CMOS switches. Each P-type and N-type switch may be formed of fewer transistors than those used to form a CMOS switch, thereby reducing the overall transistor count. The decoder may be used to decode digital values to non-linear GAMMA corrected analog output voltages.

The apparatus includes at least one exhaust pipe assembly having a direct pass-through mode and an indirect mode wherein exhaust gases are optionally directed through noise attenuating means. The apparatus includes at least one valve for controlling exhaust gas flow, a motor, a switch controlling said motor, a wire carrier, a wire connected between the carrier and the valve(s), and a rotary threaded drive shaft driven by the motor for moving the positioner. The threaded drive shaft includes radially extending and circumferentially facing stop means on both sides of said wire carrier. The valve is positioned under the control of the switch.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for adaptively introducing a compensating signal latency related to a signal latency of a data symbol decision circuit. Adaptive timing control circuitry, including an interpolating mixer implemented as a tapped delay line with correlated tap coefficients, introduces a latency adaptively and substantially matching the latency of the data decision circuit for use within an adaptive equalizer, thereby minimizing the mean-squared error of such decision circuit. This adaptive latency is used in generating the feedback error signal which, in turn, can be used by the feedforward equalizer for dynamically adjusting its adaptive filter tap coefficients.

Abstract: A method and apparatus utilizes a digital signature verification map containing a plurality of acceptable message header identifiers associated with a public key certificate identifier. In one embodiment, a method includes determining a digital signature verification error based on a received message header, such as transport header identifier associated with a public key certificate identifier, such as the subject field of the certificate. The method includes generating a signature verification map or updating a signature verification map containing a plurality of acceptable message header identifiers associated with the common public key certificate identifier in response to determining the digital signature verification error. Accordingly, a link is provided between a transport header and a digitally signed message. A digital signature verification map is continually updated to accommodate aliases to a common subject associated with the certificate.
Abstract: A separator to separate oil and debris from an aqueous fluid includes a container with a cover, the top portion of which includes a control panel access door. The separator draws an aqueous fluid with one or a plurality of skimmers that float on the aqueous fluid inside one or a plurality of corresponding reservoirs. When the separator is operating, the surface portion of the aqueous fluid is drawn into each corresponding skimmer hose and transferred to the separator by a pickup hose. The separator separates oil, debris and any sludge that may be in the aqueous fluid to provide a substantially filtered aqueous fluid. The substantially filtered aqueous fluid is then returned to the reservoirs through an exit hose.
