  • Patent number: 4333644
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a hack-squat machine in which hips, thighs, hamstrings, calves, and lower back muscles are exercised. The device includes a base frame, a weight cage having a plurality of weights supported therein, and a drive system including sprockets, a cam and chain drive attached to a padded back support which is disposed upon a trackway. One's feet are placed upon an inclined platform the angle of which is adjustable and the exercise comprises sliding the back support up and down the trackway. The back support is provided with a sled disposed between the trackway and a back face of the back support that is capable of engaging and dis-engaging so that the back support can be advanced up and down the trackway without the encumbrance of the weights so that an exerciser can not only vary the degree to which the squat exercise will be performed, but also will allow one to disengage the exercise at any time should the need arise.

  • Patent number: 4322071
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a standing vertical leg curl machine including a framework having a base and a plurality of upstanding vertical support members interconnected by horizontal braces, a pair of spaced thigh pads connected to a thigh bar having an adjustable interfit between complimentary formed tubes carried on the framework provided with a locking device for adjustment, a downwardly and outwardly extending exercise arm fashioned between the pair of thigh pads having at extremity remote from a pivot and sprocket carried on the framework a pair of transverse pads which co-act against the back portion of the calves of a person using the exercise device when the thighs of this person address the thigh pads. The sprocket is connected to a second sprocket formed with a cam provided with a weight and cable system which works against an exerciser when the legs are curled towards the back of the person.

  • Patent number: 4318053
Abstract: An amplifier system with automatic distortion control including an amplifier provided with a detector between the amplifier output and feedback ports for detecting a nonlinear condition with a balanced differential circuit connected to the detector and feeding a full wave threshold detector which charges a storage capacitor proportionally to the percent clipping of the output signal of the amplifier. The storage capacitor is discharged into an input variable gain amplifier in the amplifier input circuit to reduce the gain for minimizing clipping.

  • Patent number: 4312083
Abstract: A flush valve for a toilet having a tank and a bowl including a valve housing connected to a source of water, a valve stem operatively connected to a float and a piston operatively connected through a cam to a flush lever, the valve stem and piston movable independently to provide a valve for the admission of water to the tank and bowl together with a syphon having a tube therein for breaking the syphon action at a predetermined level of water in the tank, a float operatively connected to the valve stem which automatically varies the float level action and an arm connected to the cam for actuation by the float to return the flush lever to an inoperative position and another valve operated by the piston to interrupt the flow of water into the valve housing to prevent back syphonage of tank water into the water supply line.

  • Patent number: 4311305
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a chest and bust machine defined by a base frame from which emanates a plurality of upwardly extending support rods on a pair of which is deployed a vertical back support and a vertically adjustable seat mechanism. Provided in front of the back and seat areas there is a pair of spaced parallel pivot arms pivotted to the base frame at its lowermost extremity and connected at an upward extremity thereof to a plurality of chains which interact with sprockets disposed upon a common axle which, when rotated, rotates a cam disposed therebetween. The cam is connected to a further chain which operates a plurality of weights the magnitude of which is selectable. Work is done by rotating the pivot arms away from the user of the machine so as to provide chest and bust development in such a fashion that the exerciser is constrained from allowing any other muscles to contribute in the exercise, and the work done is on a direct drive basis.

  • Patent number: 4311292
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a mechanism for attaching a gutter to the bottom portion of a roof so as to carry water away therefrom comprising an L-shaped bracket having a vertical and a horizontal leg, a hinged member attached to the horizontal leg at an extremity remote from the vertical leg and a releaseable fastener on the top portion of the vertical leg adapted to cooperate with a pop rivet disposed on the gutter. The gutter is hinged to the horizontal leg of the L-shaped bracket and affixed by the pop rivet to the fastener so that it can releaseably removed from the bracket and tipped over to remove the contents of the gutter which typically takes the form of leaves and other forms of debris.

  • Patent number: 4308923
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device for orienting a drilling auger disposed on and powered by a vehicle defined by a lower frame member carried by the vehicle, an upper frame member pivoted to the lower frame member for rotation about an axis, and an auger supporting framework pivoted to the upper framework for rotation about a second axis orthogonal to the first axis in which the rotation is controlled by hydraulic cylinders extending between the lower and upper frame members, and between the upper frame member and the auger supporting framework, respectively. The auger itself is driven by a power take-off on the vehicle in a preferred form which in conjunction with the preceeding structure allows the auger to address the earth in which the hole is to be drilled in substantially any angle above the surface of the earth.
