  • Patent number: 4087682
Abstract: A method of making an illuminating device such as a flood light or vehicle headlight in which a light source is mounted in a jig including a member for adjustably supporting a plurality of selected small reflectors. Reflectors are selected, mounted in said jig and each reflector is adjusted to direct light impinging on that reflector to a selected area to be illuminated. After having selected and adjusted each small reflector, a matrix is made from the reflecting surfaces mounted in the jig and this matrix is used in a known manner to form male and female dies for forming one or more reflecting devices having facets to reflect light in the same pattern as determined by the adjustment of the selected small reflectors in the jig. The invention also contemplates reflectors made by the novel method.

  • Patent number: 4070819
Abstract: A vertical clock which indicates the time of day from the vertical position of colored cubes rather than from conventional hands on a numbered face. A power source, as an electric clock, has the minute hand removed, and through a gear, movement of the hour hand turns a plate from which there are suspended twelve strings of paper cubes, there being 12 cubes per string. Certain ones of the cubes are appropriately colored to indicate time at a designated position. A pendulum cube, dangling in the center of the others, is driven by the second hand, and it revolves accordingly.

  • Patent number: 4061294
Abstract: An aircraft wheel rotator comprising plow like deflectors and fan like spokes on the wheels. The plow like deflectors have a bottom pan which causes air impinging thereon to be funneled downwardly and rearwardly with increased velocity, and thence backward to impinge on fan like spokes which are integral with the aircraft wheels. The result of having this air stream impinge on the fan like spokes of the wheels, the spokes being suitably oriented to provide resistance to the incoming air stream, is that the wheels will begin to spin due to the air flow before the aircraft has landed on the ground. This spin up effect of the wheels prior to landing minimizes flat spots on the tires due to wheels that are encountering the ground while stationary, and therefore provide additional life for the tires, as well as improved safety for the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 4059760
Abstract: A prospecting system for hydrocarbons using emanoradiation measurements of the neutron, beta, gamma rays, and radon gas emitted at the earth surface and atmosphere from the earth basement complex and, the overlying sedimentary deposits of carbonaceous rocks, shales and sandstone that are impregnated with uranium, thorium and potassium derived from the eroded earth basement complex materials. A number of check points are measured and the radiation levels are plotted to form a georadiograph. A comparison between the background level and the check point levels is used in determining the contour data basically of the earth's stratosphere, altered in its variation by hydrocarbons, radiation active substances, and/or mineral deposits.

  • Patent number: 4043487
Abstract: A mortar applying machine including a base supported on rollers adapted to roll along the top of a brick or block wall with one of the rollers being driven to move the machine horizontally along the wall. Guide rollers extend downwardly from the base to engage the sides of the wall to maintain the machine in proper alignment. A hopper is mounted on the base and is angularly adjustable to assist in controlling the flow of mortar therefrom. A vibrator is attached to the hopper to assist in moving the mortar from the hopper. A pair of oppositely extending nozzles project from the hopper to feed the mortar to the side edges of the wall. The hopper and vibrator can be removed as a unit from the machine to apply mortar in positions where the machine cannot be used due to space restrictions. When using the hopper removed from the machine one of the nozzles is blocked so that only one stream of mortar issues from the hopper.

  • Patent number: 4031820
Abstract: The present invention converts an open top deep fryer into an automatic device in which the foodstuff to be fried is lowered into the frying fat, retained there for a predetermined pre-set time and then automatically raised out of the fat for use. The mechanism in one form of the invention includes a cover for preventing any of the fumes from the fat from escaping to the atmosphere. A blower and washer are provided for drawing off the cooking fumes and passing them through a water spray for cleaning both fats and odor therefrom before releasing the air to the atmosphere. Both cooking trays and baskets are provided so as to permit the cooking of all types of deep fat fried foods.

  • Patent number: 4010947
Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable weight exercise machine which includes vertical frame members and in which a carriage is spaced from said frame members and is mounted for vertical reciprocation only on a pair of spaced parallel vertical guide bars extending through the carriage and through a plurality of weights below the carriage. Linear bearings in the carriage engage the guides. A central shaft is suspended from the carriage and extends through a central bore in the weights with any number of the weights being detachably connected to the shaft by a transverse pin extending through one of the weights and the shaft. Spring cushions the weight as it reaches the lower end of its travel. A pair of grasping arms including handles extend outwardly from the carriage for the exercisor to grasp during the exercise. The grasping handles can be attached to the top or the bottom of the carriage for different types of exercises.

  • Patent number: 3955529
Abstract: An automatic breading machine for coating food stuffs with flour, or other dry coating materials which includes an elongate hopper mounted for rotation about its longitudinal axis and having agitator blades for thoroughly moving the food objects within the flour to completely coat the objects. The food objects are ejected from the hopper onto a screen which permits excess dry coating material to drop therethrough. The dry coating material supply normally moves out of the hopper through ports at one end of the hopper and through a screen sifter which separates dough balls from the flour to prevent the dough balls from returning to the system or from being delivered with the food stuffs. The flour passing out of the cylinder is collected in a hopper and conveyed to the intake chute of the hopper for reuse. A pair of flour collecting hoppers and a pair of conveyors are used so as to provide the automatic breading machine with selectivity of flour.
