Abstract: Isoindolinone pigments of the formula ##STR1## WHEREIN R represents an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical, a cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical to which the oxygen atoms are attached through alkyl or alkoxy groups, V.sub.1 and V.sub.2 represent hydrogen or halogen atoms, alkyl or alkoxy groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X represents a halogen atom, Y and Z represent halogen atoms, alkoxy or alkylmercapto groups of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, cycloalkoxy groups of 5 to 6 carbon atoms, aralkoxy, aryloxy or arylmercapto groups, and n is an integer from 2 to 6, are valuable pigments coloring plastics, lacquers and printing inks in various yellow shades of excellent fastness properties and high color strength.

Abstract: Diazo pigments of the formula ##STR1## wherein R denotes an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical, X denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl or alkoxy group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl or carboxylic acid ester group, and Y denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl or alkoxy group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl or carboxylic acid ester group, are useful for coloring plastics and printing inks in fast yellow to orange shades.

Abstract: A method of making a shaped article from particulate solid material, such as a foundry mould or core from sand, comprisesI. forming a mixture of the particles and an anaerobically-curing adhesive containing, as a curing accelerator, either an aliphatic amine having at least two primary aliphatic amino groups or a condensation product of such an amine with a ketone or with an aldehyde,Ii. forming the mixture into the desired shape, andIii. in the presence of water, causing the adhesive to cure and to bond the particles together by displacing air or other oxygen-containing gas in the environment of the shaped article with an inert gas or vapor.

Abstract: A water-soluble dye containing composition which comprises of a dye which is soluble in a water-miscible solvent and is insoluble in water alone, a water-miscible solvent and a water-soluble resin. These compositions may be prepared by first dissolving a dye in a water-miscible solvent and thereafter adding the dye solution to an aqueous solution of a resin. The resulting compositions are useful to color aqueous resin emulsions.

Abstract: 1:1-Metal complexes of azomethines of the formula I ##STR1## wherein A and B are isocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radicals, with however only one of the radicals A and B being a benzene ring, R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or an aryl radical, and the complexing metal ions are bivalent cations of the transition metals, zinc ions or cadmium ions which are useful for pigmenting high molecular organic material.

Abstract: Iminoisoindolinone metal complexes of formula ##STR1## wherein A represents a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic radical which contains at least one further heteroatom and can be fused or doubled with benzene nuclei, M represents a divalent metal atom excluding the alkaline earth metals, X represents a hydrogen atom, Y represents a halogen atom, Z represents a nitro group, an alkoxycarbonyl group of 2 to 6 carbon atoms or a group of formula RY.sub.2 --, wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms which is substituted by an aryl radical or is unsubstituted, a cycloalkyl group of 5 to 6 carbon atoms, or represents an aryl group, and Y.sub.2 represents an oxygen or a sulphur atom, m and n are 0 to 4, p is 0 to 2, and the sum of m+n+p must be 4, which are useful for pigmenting high molecular organic material.

Abstract: Disazo pigments of the formula ##STR1## wherein A denotes a phenylene or naphthylene radical, R denotes an aryl, alkyl or alkenyl group optionally substituted by halogen atoms, by hydroxyl, alkoxy or alkylmercapto groups containing 1-6 C atoms, by alkoxycarbonyl groups containing 2-6 C atoms or cyano, aryl, aryloxy, arylmercapto or heterocyclic radicals, or denotes a heterocyclic radical, and the X and Y denote H atoms or substituents which do not confer solubility in water are useful for coloring plastics lacquers and printing inks in yellow to orange shade of good fastness properties.

Abstract: New mono- or dialcohols of mononuclear, five-membered or six-membered, unsubstituted or substituted N-heterocyclic compounds which contain two NH-groups in the molecule, by reaction of mononuclear, five-membered or six-membered, unsubstituted or substituted N-heterocyclic compounds, for example hydantoin, barbituric acid, uracil, dihydrouracil, parabanic acid and the corresponding derivatives, with butene oxid, 1,2-cyclopentene oxide or 1,2-cyclohexene oxide to give monoalcohols or dialcohols. These compounds are useful as intermediates for the preparation of diglycidyl compounds as set forth in German Offenlegungsschrift No. 2,104,259.

Abstract: The invention relates to the production of chemically resistant epoxide resin layers on solid surfaces. The liquid component (A) which contains an epoxide compound is preferably mixed, and applied, together with the component (B) containing the curing agent, in a spraying apparatus. The coating is then cured. The curing agent contained in (B) consists essentially of Zn(BF.sub.4).sub.2, quite specific ethers or thioethers, an acid ester of the phosphoric or pyrophosphoric acids or a certain phosphonic acid ester and water. The system is characterized by a short is preferably mixed, and applied, together with the component (b) containing the curing agent, in a spraying apparatus. The coating is then cured. The curing agent contained in (B) consists essentially of ZN(BF.sub.4).sub.2, quite specific ethers or thioethers, an acid ester of th phosphoric or pyrophosphoric acids or a certain phosphonic acid ester and water.

Abstract: A disazo pigment of the formula ##STR1## WHEREIN X and Y are hydrogen, chlorine, alkyl of 1 - 4 C-atoms or one of X and Y can be alkoxy of 1 - 4 C-atoms and Z is chlorine or methyl, which is useful for pigmenting high molecular organic material and shows excellent fastness to light and weather.

Abstract: A phthalocyanine pigment composition comprising a phthalocyanine pigment and a sulphonated phthalocyanine derivative formed from sulphonated phthalocyanine dyestuffs having the formula: ##STR1## AND A SUFFICIENT QUANTITY OF DEHYDROABIETYLAMINE HAVING THE FORMULA ##STR2## to substantially neutralize the free sulphonic acid groups, wherein R represents a C.sub.1 -C.sub.22 cyclic or acyclic alkyl group, aryl, aralkyl group or a dehydroabietylamine residue; and R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.22 cyclic or acyclic alkyl group, an aryl or an aralkyl group; the alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups, R and R.sub.1 may be optionally substituted with one or more hydroxyl groups; x is from 1 to 4, y is 0 or from 1 to 3 and the sum of x + y is from 1 to 4 gives printing inks and paint media having improved tinctorial strength, gloss and especially improved rheological properties.

Abstract: The polyglycidyl compounds according to the invention can be manufactured by reacting epihalogenohydrin with compounds of the formula IV ##STR1## or the formula V ##STR2## in which (1) n denotes 2, 3 or 4, (2) A represents a 2-valent, 3-valent or 4-valent organic radical which either contains a N-heterocyclic or cycloaliphatic ring or 2 N-heterocyclic rings or 2 phenylene rings, (3) either D denotes the --CH.sub.2.O.CO-- radical and m denotes the number 1, or D denotes the radical ##STR3## and m denotes O, and (4) R.sup.1 represents a divalent radical, which contains at least one hydantoin ring or uracil ring. During the reaction hydrogen halide splits off. From curable mixtures containing polyglycidyl compounds according to the invention and a curing agent such as hexahydrophthalic anhydride or phthalic anhydride are obtained products with good mechanical and electrical properties.

Abstract: The invention relates to 3-dialkoxyphosphonoalkyl-dihydrouracils. These compounds are manufactured by reacting dihydrouracils substituted in the 3-position by a halogenalkyl group with a trialkyl phosphite. The compounds are useful as flame retardants which may be incorporated into polymeric materials or their starting substances.

Abstract: Disazo pigments of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is 2-nitro-5-chlorophenyl or 1-nitronaphthyl-2, R.sub.2 is naphthalene in which the azo, hydroxyl and --CO--group are in the 1,2,3-position and R.sub.4 is a phenylene or naphthalene group are prepared. The disazo pigments may be used for pigmenting high molecular organic materials such as cellulose ethers, polyamides, polyurethanes and acrylic. The pigments have very good fastness to migration, heat and to light.
