    Abstract: A vacuum valve including a valve opening, a valve seat surrounding the valve opening, and a valve plate. During closing starting from the open position, the valve plate is moved over a main section of the closing path in a main closing direction parallel to the valve plate and the plane of the sealing surface, and then over a final section running at an angle to the sealing surface plane for guiding the valve plate onto the valve seat. A guide element on the wall that guides the valve plate over the end section of the closing path interacts with a guide element on the valve plate. The valve plate is guided over the final section of the closing path by guide surfaces that are angled relative to the sealing surface, and at least one guide surface is arranged on a guide element of the valve plate or the wall.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used for supporting multiple hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) processes per transmission time interval (TTI). A transmitter and a receiver may include a plurality of H-ARQ processes. Each H-ARQ process may transmit and receive one TB per TTI. The transmitter may generate a plurality of TBs and assign each TB to a H-ARQ process. The transmitter may send control information for each TB, which may include H-ARQ information associated TBs with the TBs. The transmitter may send the TBs using the associated H-ARQ processes simultaneously per TTI. After receiving the TBs, the receiver may send feedback for each of the H-ARQ processes and associated TBs indicating successful or unsuccessful receipt of each of the TBs to the transmitter. The feedback for multiple TBs may be combined for the simultaneously transmitted H-ARQ processes, (i.e., TBs).

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for minimizing redundant enhanced uplink (EU) allocation requests and fault-isolating EU transmission failures that occur between a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a Node-B. The WTRU transmits an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) allocation request to the Node-B over an uplink (UL) EU channel. In one embodiment, if E-DCH allocation cannot be provided within a predetermined time period, the Node-B sends an acknowledgement message to the WTRU via a downlink (DL) EU signaling channel without sending E-DCH allocation information. The request is queued in the Node-B and the WTRU refrains from transmitting the same request until after the time period expires or resources become available. In another embodiment, appropriate actions are taken to correct EU transmission failures by determining whether an E-DCH allocation request was unsuccessfully delivered via the UL EU channel or whether channel allocation information was unsuccessfully delivered via the DL EU signaling channel.

Laboratory personnel can thus observe the rotary evaporator and the associated pump stand (1) through the divider of a fume cupboard, in order to be able to modify and readjust the process parameters at the remote control panel as needed. Because the remote control unit (4) has a wireless control connection to the control device of the pump stand (1), the fume cupboard no longer needs to be opened, even momentarily. Rather, the pump stand (1) can be operated from a sufficient distance outside the fume cupboard without the laboratory personnel needing to be exposed to special hazards.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a method and system for intra-prediction in decoding video data are described herein. In various embodiments, a high-compression-ratio codec (such as H.264) is part of the encoding scheme for the video data. Embodiments pre-process control maps that were generated from encoded video data, and generating intermediate control maps comprising information regarding decoding the video data. The control maps indicate which units of video data in a frame are to be processed using an intra-prediction operation. In an embodiment, intra-prediction is performed on a frame basis such that intra-prediction is performed on an entire frame at one time. In other embodiments, processing of different frames is interleaved. Embodiments increase the efficiency of the intra-prediction such as to allow decoding of high-compression-ratio encoded video data on personal computers or comparable equipment without special, additional decoding hardware.

The standard hardware box-filter is then replaced with a more intelligent resolve implemented using shader programs. Embodiments find scene edges using existing samples generated by Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) hardware. Using samples from a footprint larger than a single pixel, a gradient is calculated matching the direction of an edge. A non-linear filter over contributing samples in the direction of the gradient gives the final result.
