Patent number: 8321830Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for providing timing information to a view placement interactive (VPI) tool user designing a multi-cell circuit. A circuit design comprising a plurality of cells is displayed to the user. Each cell includes a pre-characterized circuit structure. A graphical user interface (GUI) may be used to request a cell placement change, a design connectivity change or a cell type change. The circuit design is modified to implement the requested change, an incremental static timing analysis is performed, and the resulting timing information associated with the requested change is presented on the displayed circuit design. Timing information may be displayed directly on a cell that receives an output from the particular cell, and/or may be displayed adjacent to the particular cell. The timing information may include current and previous frequency slack information associated with each input and output pin of the particular cell.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2010Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventors: Pete J. Patent number: 8314885Abstract: An image-clock adjusting circuit is provided and includes a phase comparator, a clock controller, and a timing generator. The phase comparator receives a power source signal and a vertical synchronous signal and compares a phase of the power source signal with that of the first vertical synchronous signal for producing at least a phase comparison signal. The clock controller receives the phase comparison signal and the vertical synchronous signal, produces a pixel clock signal and intermittently adjusts a clock width of the pixel clock signal. The timing generator receives the pixel clock signal and adjusts the vertical synchronous signal into an adjusted vertical synchronous signal being nearly in phase with the power source signal. Therefore, The effect suppressing the phenomenon of the color rolling with the simpler circuit is accomplished.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2008Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: Holtek Semiconductor Inc.Inventors: Jen-Chung Weng, Jar-Lin Chen

Patent number: 8314647Abstract: Embodiments of a dynamic leakage control circuit for use with graphics processor circuitry are described. The dynamic leakage control circuit selectively enables back biasing of the transistors comprising the graphics processor circuits during particular modes of operation. The back biasing levels are controlled by two separate power rails. A first power rail is coupled to an existing power supply and the second power rail is coupled to a separate adjustable voltage regulator. A separate voltage regulator may also be provided for the first power rail. A hardware-based state machine or software process is programmed to detect the occurrence of one or more modes of operation and adjust the voltage regulators for the first and second power rails to either enable or disable the back biasing state of the circuit, or alter the threshold voltage of the circuit within a specified voltage range.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2011Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Shimizu, Chi-Shung David Wang, Qi Chen

Patent number: 8312314Abstract: A fault-tolerant storage system is provided. The storage system is composed of a controller having a plurality of processors and other units. When an error occurs in any one of the components in the controller, the storage system cuts off an I/O path of the controller, specifies the failed component in the cutoff status, and invalidates the failed component. After invalidating the failed component, the storage system determines whether it is operable only with the normal components, cancels (releases) the cutoff of the I/O path when it determines that it is operable, and resumes operation by rebooting.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2011Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Masanori Takada, Shuji Nakamura, Kentaro Shimada

Patent number: 8312234Abstract: There are a loose coupling and a tight coupling as the coupling configurations for a first module and a second module. The loose coupling is a coupling configuration in which the first and second modules are coupled together by way of a front-end path, and the first module is not able to access a second storage resource. The tight coupling is a coupling configuration in which the first and second modules are coupled together by way of a back-end path, and the first module is able to access the second storage resource. A switch from the loose coupling to the tight coupling is performed using the following processing flow without the first and second modules being partitioned into respectively independent storage modules. Specifically, first, the first and second modules are coupled together by way of the back-end path, and next, the first module merges information denoted by second management information from the second storage resource with first management information via the back-end path.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2010Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Sadahiro Sugimoto, Noboru Morishita, Kazuyoshi Serizawa
