  • Patent number: 8344875
Abstract: A vacuum pump stand (1) for generating and regulating the vacuum intended for a rotary vaporizer, including a control device having a control connection to a control unit (4) having at least one control element (3, 6). In the pump stand (1), the control unit (4) is designed as a remote control unit having a wireless control connection to the control device of the pump stand. Laboratory personnel can thus observe the rotary evaporator and the associated pump stand (1) through the divider of a fume cupboard, in order to be able to modify and readjust the process parameters at the remote control panel as needed. Because the remote control unit (4) has a wireless control connection to the control device of the pump stand (1), the fume cupboard no longer needs to be opened, even momentarily. Rather, the pump stand (1) can be operated from a sufficient distance outside the fume cupboard without the laboratory personnel needing to be exposed to special hazards.

  • Patent number: 8345063
Abstract: Embodiments of a filtering method and apparatus for anti-aliasing as described herein take advantage of improved existing hardware by using as input the data stored in the multisampling anti-aliasing (MSAA) buffers after rendering. The standard hardware box-filter is then replaced with a more intelligent resolve implemented using shader programs. Embodiments find scene edges using existing samples generated by Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) hardware. Using samples from a footprint larger than a single pixel, a gradient is calculated matching the direction of an edge. A non-linear filter over contributing samples in the direction of the gradient gives the final result.

  • Patent number: 8342745
Abstract: A method is provided for determination of an operating temperature in a thermally highly loaded device. Multiple individual passive measurement elements, having a measurable physical parameter depending on a constant temperature set during heat treatment, are provided. The parameter is set differently for each of the different measurement elements which are combined to form an array. In a first measurement, values of the physical parameter for the array are determined before the array is subjected to the operating temperature. The array is subjected to the operating temperature in the device and in a second measurement, values are determined for all the measurement elements in the array. First and second measurement values of the physical parameter for each of the measurement elements are compared and the temperature of the heat treatment of that measurement element whose value of the physical parameter has changed the least is taken as the measured temperature.

  • Patent number: 8346780
Abstract: In order to mitigate a load in communications among an integrated search server, a plurality of search users and a plurality of search servers in an integrated search system, in the present invention, when an integrated search is executed, first, information for narrowing down the search servers is obtained from each search server, and subsequently, the search servers are narrowed down based on this information, and search results are obtained from only the search servers which have been narrowed down. Thereby, there are advantageous effects of reducing memory usage of the integrated search server, and reducing unnecessary network traffic between the integrated search server and each search server.

  • Patent number: 8339225
Abstract: An electromagnetic actuating device (1) having a housing (2) and two actuator pins (3, 4) that are supported in the housing so as to be movable independently of each other between a retracted rest position and an extended working position, and locking pins (7, 8) that hold the actuator pins in the rest position via locking mechanisms and that can be moved relative to the actuator pins in the movement direction of the actuator pins. A force is applied to the locking pins in the extension direction by further spring elements (15), and the locking pins are moved in the retraction direction by electromagnetic force application in order to unlock the locking mechanisms. The actuating device is an electromagnet (22) associated with the locking pins in common and having a reversible direction of the magnetic field, and the end sections (19) of the locking pins facing away from the actuator pins are provided with bipolar permanent magnets (20, 21) that are oriented with opposite polarities in the movement direction.

  • Patent number: 8337084
Abstract: A seal (1) for a hydrostatic linear guide with a given adjustment direction (5), with a longitudinal seal section (7, 7?) extending essentially parallel to the adjustment direction (5), and with a transverse seal section (8, 8?) extending essentially transverse to the adjustment direction (5), wherein a first sealing lip (12) extends along the longitudinal seal section (7, 7?) and a second sealing lip (14) extends along the transverse seal section (8, 8?), and wherein the longitudinal seal section (7, 7?) and the transverse seal section (8, 8?) are connected to each other. Here it is provided that the first sealing lip (12) and the second sealing lip (14) merge into each other with a constant curvature (18). With such a seal (1), both a high degree of static oil tightness and also a high degree of dynamic oil tightness are achieved for a hydrostatic linear guide.

  • Patent number: 8336512
Abstract: A camshaft adjuster for a concentric camshaft assembly of an internal combustion engine is provided. The adjuster includes a stator that is connected to the timing gear, a rotor located within the stator and connected to the outer camshaft. The rotor includes a plurality of vanes that extend into spaces created between inwardly directed projections of the stator to define first and second sets of chambers on each side of the vanes. Front and rear sidewalls are connected to the stator and form the front and rear walls of the chambers. An outer cover connects to the stator to the inner camshaft. Radial loads acting on the timing gear are transmitted from the stator to the rotor and into the outer camshaft.

  • Patent number: 8340023
Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used to cancel a communication session. The apparatus may transmit a first message to initiate a communication session and then transmit a second message that indicates a request to cancel the communication session. If the apparatus determines that there is an ongoing Packet Switched (PS) session, the apparatus may continue the ongoing PS session on a current Radio Access Technology (RAT) without performing an intersystem change. If the apparatus receives a handover (HO) command, the apparatus may transmit a message to reject the HO command, or it may ignore the HO command.

  • Patent number: 8341408
Abstract: A system and method for providing variable security levels in a wireless communication network. The present invention optimizes the often conflicting demands of highly secure wireless communications and high speed wireless communications. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, various security sensors are scanned to determine the likely presence of an intruder within a predetermined trust zone. If an intruder is likely present, the security level is changed to the highest setting, and consequently a lower data rate, while the intruder is identified. If the identified intruder is in fact a trusted node, the security level is returned to a lower setting. If the identified intruder is not a trusted node, the security level is maintained at an elevated state while the intruder is within the trust zone.
