  • Patent number: 8262245
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for providing solar outdoor lighting including a generally U-shaped support pole. The support pole free-ends are spaced apart and attached to a base or substrate connected together by an upper joining section which connects orients and spaces apart the pole supports. Connected to the upper joining section is an electrical light source that is directed downward through a lens suspended below the joining section. Below the lens and above the base or substrate is a housing that includes the solar panel, a rechargeable battery, charging and illumination control circuitry, and activation circuitry to turn on the light at low ambient light levels. The support pole forms a safety barrier for the light source and solar panel from knocks while providing at least two poles for attached to a base or substrate. The present invention further relates to a water-resistant customer activation structure.

  • Patent number: 8265560
Abstract: A method for reducing cross cell interference in a wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access, the system having at least one user equipment (UE) and a base station (BS) is disclosed. The method begins by measuring an interference level of each timeslot at the BS. A timeslot is eliminated for additional uplink communication if the measured interference level exceeds a first threshold. UEs in nearby cells that are large interferers are identified and their downlink timeslot usage is gathered. A timeslot is eliminated for uplink communication for a large interferer UE that uses the timeslot for downlink communication.

  • Patent number: 8266192
Abstract: Provided is a technique capable of efficiently operating files and directories that are stored in storage located in a physically far place from a file server, without causing a network latency. An index creation program is also loaded in a cloud computing environment, and a flag, which indicates whether or not to execute batch processing to a directory that has been migrated to the cloud side, is provided, whereby it becomes possible to collectively execute index creation processing for the migrated directory on the cloud side. More specifically, upon completion of migration of all files under a given directory to the cloud side, a flag, which indicates whether or not to perform batch processing on the cloud side, is validated for the metadata of the directory. Such a batch processing flag can be held for each application such as applications of the index creation processing and the virus check processing.

  • Patent number: 8259688
Abstract: Systems and methods of pre-allocating identifiers to wireless devices for use in requesting resources over a random access channel are described. A wireless communication system includes a random access channel over which wireless devices can anonymously send requests for resources. The base stations receiving and processing the anonymous requests reduces the probability of random access channel collisions and conserves the resources needed to support the anonymous requests by pre-allocating one or more codes to select wireless devices. The wireless devices having the pre-allocated codes can transmit a particular code over the random access channel as a request for resources that uniquely identifies the requester.

  • Patent number: 8259592
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes a mobility management function and a multihoming function. The mobility management function may implement the Media Independent Handover (MIH) protocol and the multihoming function may implement the Shim6 protocol. The mobility management function may communicate link status information to the multihoming function. Based on the link status information, the multihoming function may accelerate or decelerate a link failure detection procedure, may modify a list of possible paths for consideration for a path exploration procedure, and/or may determine to initiate a path exploration procedure. The multihoming function may communicate to the mobility management function that additional communications resources are required. In response, the mobility management function may activate an inactive radio interface. Subsequent path exploration procedures may include the exploration of paths that may be established over the activated radio interface.
