Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving handover in an IEEE 802.21 compliant communication network. A query is transmitted from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a media independent handover (MIH) server (MIHS). The WTRU includes a target point of attachment (PoA) and/or a preferred mobile inter protocol (MIP) method. The WTRU receives a response from the MIHS indicating the MIP method supported by the target PoA. Based on the received response, the WTRU may make an informed decision regarding handover.

Abstract: A method for synchronizing a receiver to a received signal begins by down-converting the received signal to a first baseband signal. A coarse frequency offset (CFO) of the first baseband signal is determined and is applied to the down-converting of the received signal to a second baseband signal. A fine frequency offset (FFO) of the second baseband signal is determined. The receiver is synchronized to the received signal using the CFO and the FFO.

Abstract: An indium oxide-based particle is provided. The indium oxide-based particle has a mono-dispersive and spherical non-crystalline structure (spherical morphology with amorphous phase). The diameter of particle is ranged between 0.10 ?m and 0.70 ?m, and the content of an indium oxide is ranged between 10.0 percent by mass and 99.9 percent by mass. The indium oxide-based particle is generated by the precursor with indium ion reacting with alpha hydroxyl acid in an aqueous solution with alkali-modifier additive at a constant temperature. The indium-oxide based particle can be further calcinated as a crystalline indium oxide particle.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus utilize hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmissions and retransmissions that are usable on multiple carriers, i.e. joint HARQ processes. For example, a downlink (DL) shared channel transmission of a joint HARQ process is received on one of the carriers. A first part of an identity of the joint HARQ process is determined by using HARQ process identity data received on a shared control channel. A second part of the joint HARQ process identity is determined using additional information. The joint HARQ process identity is then determined by combining the first part and the second part. A WTRU is provided that is configured to receive the DL shared channel and to make the aforementioned determinations. A variety of other methods and apparatus configurations are disclosed for utilizing joint HARQ processes, in particular in the context of DC-HSDPA.

Abstract: An improved arrangement is described for signaling enhanced capabilities of a wireless data communication system to a dual-mode wireless handset seeking access to such capabilities and normally operating in a first (non-enhanced) mode. The arrangement, which is especially advantageous for ascertaining operating mode capabilities of a new cellsite to which the handset is being handed off from an existing cellsite, includes a separate capabilities server that is associated with the system and contains a data base populated with information indicative of such capabilities. The handset generates a suitable query message which is transmitted to the data base in the first mode after the handoff to retrieve the capability information for the new cellsite location. The handset is switched from the first mode to the second (enhanced) mode for post-handoff operation if the retrieved capability information indicates that the new cellsite is capable of operation in the enhanced mode.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of processing image data comprises correlating received image data. Image statistics are computed based upon the correlated image and eccentricity is estimated based upon the computed image statistics. An entropy metric of the correlated received image data is determined. An interpretation based upon the image statistics, estimated eccentricity, and entropy metric is performed and a report including the content of the processed image data is generated.
Abstract: A full services access multiplexer is described. A master DSL modem is coupled to a conductor pair. A POTS extender is coupled to the conductor pair and may sense the operation of a fallback or other signal on the conductor pair. A suppression signal may be transmitted to the master DSL modem upon occurrence of the fallback. The suppression signal may travel over a control circuit. Traffic over a backplane or other network segment may be uninterrupted to an Integrated Access Device by handling signals inbound and outbound to the backplane via packet assembler and disassembler (PAD). The PAD may transmit a data stream to vocoder and received a data stream from vocoder for injection onto the backplane. The vocoder connects duplexed traffic to the subscriber line interface circuit (SLIC), wherein traffic between the vocoder and the SLIC are in analog formats in or near the audible range of frequencies.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention as described herein provide a solution to the problems of conventional methods as stated above. In the following description, various examples are given for illustration, but none are intended to be limiting. Embodiments are directed to a transcoding system that shares the workload of video transcoding through the use of multiple central processing unit (CPU) cores and/or one or more graphical processing units (GPU), including the use of two components within the GPU: a dedicated hardcoded or programmable video decoder for the decode step and compute shaders for scaling and encoding. The system combines usage of an industry standard Microsoft DXVA method for using the GPU to accelerate video decode with a GPU encoding scheme, along with an intermediate step of scaling the video.

Abstract: Embodiments include a texture mapping processor incorporating a dynamic level of detail map for use in a graphics processing system. Level of detail values are defined, with 0 being the finest and corresponding to the largest mipmap level. Each bound texture in a graphics object is assigned an identifier. This identifier is used as an index into a minimum-LOD value tracking table that is updated whenever a texel is fetched. A texture processing module controls when the tracking table is initialized and read back, and which identifiers are tracked. The minimum-LOD values in the tracking table are accompanied by a coarse region access mask to associate a minimum LOD value with a specific region of the image or object. A clamping table contains LOD clamp values for each region and a region code that specifies the coarseness of the LOD associated with each region of the texture.

Abstract: A method of producing enzyme granulates, enzyme granulates produced By the method, and the use thereof in formulations is provided, for example, for animal feed, foodstuffs, washing agents, rinsing agents or for pharmaceutical uses. The enzyme granulates have a high relative proportion of active enzyme, particular particle size, good shelf life, particularly small rounding factors and/or low residual moisture proportion, and further specific properties. The production of the enzyme granulates is achieved by linking of the thermal conditions in the injection zone and temperature conditions in the remainder of the apparatus. This is achieved by introduction of heated process gasses for drying exclusively in the injection zone. The secure introduction of articles into the injection zone is achieved by the specific geometric arrangement of the apparatus using gravity. The absolute value for enzyme activity of the enzyme granulates can be controlled by the addition of particles as seed material for the granules.

Abstract: Systems and methods of pre-allocating identifiers to wireless devices for use in requesting resources over a random access channel are described. A wireless communication system includes a random access channel over which wireless devices can anonymously send requests for resources. The base stations receiving and processing the anonymous requests reduces the probability of random access channel collisions and conserves the resources needed to support the anonymous requests by pre-allocating one or more codes to select wireless devices. The wireless devices having the pre-allocated codes can transmit a particular code over the random access channel as a request for resources that uniquely identifies the requester.
