  • Patent number: 8034159
Abstract: A method for cleaning hydrocarbons from a gas-vapor medium ejected to the atmosphere, formed while storing oil or gasoline or filling a container therewith is provided. The medium is pumped out and compressed in a gas-liquid jet apparatus due to energy of oil or gasoline supplied by a pump. The formed mixture is separated in a separator, where a pressure of 0.7 to 2.5 MPa is maintained, and gas from the separator is compressed in a jet apparatus by oil or gasoline supplied by a pump. The gas medium cleaned from the hydrocarbons is outputted and the saturated absorbent is directed to a desorber where a pressure is generated to be lower than the pressure in the separator. The liquid medium is removed from the separators and to a container or to a storage tank from which oil or gasoline is simultaneously supplied to pump inlets or to the separators.

  • Patent number: 8037274
Abstract: A path creation support apparatus acquires either a portion of the parameters required for path creation or parameter decision information for deciding this portion of the parameters from a storage system or a host. The path creation support apparatus decides the portion of the parameters based on the parameter decision information. Upon receiving an access path creation start request, the path creation support apparatus sends an access path creation indication to the host and the storage system which specifies the parameters together with the access path creation start request, and either the parameters acquired beforehand or the acquired parameters decided based on the parameter decision information.

  • Patent number: 8028397
Abstract: The present invention uses a frame with one or more axial ribs extending from a spine onto which two or more discrete two-terminal electronic components, such as capacitors, resistors, or inductors, can be attached. The function of the frame is to align and space the electronic components in a single device or array that allows the two-terminals of each component to be separately contacted or soldered to a PC board during final assembly into a circuit. The frame may use friction or a bonding agent to hold the components to the frame. Additionally, the base of the frame forms a single surface for the pick and place equipment used in circuit board assembly. The frame and any bonding agent must be capable of sustaining high temperature soldering operations to form electrical contacts in the circuit assembly operation.

  • Patent number: 8029223
Abstract: A screw (60) is provided, having a shaft (32) and a head (66), for fastening a component onto a substructure utilizing a tightly pressing conical sealing disk (50) against the component. The screw head (66) is configured at the bottom (64) thereof around the shaft (32) as a cone that is tapered in the direction of the top (68) of the screw head (66). The cone angle of the conical sealing disk (50) measured against a perpendicular line to the disk axis is equal to, or larger than the cone angle (alpha) of the screw head (66), which is measured against a perpendicular line to the screw axis. When the screw (60) is tightened, the conical bottom (64) of the screw head (66) and the conical top (58) of the sealing disk (50) are in mutual surface contact with each other. This maintains a sealing connection. Through the conical configuration of the bottom (64) of the screw head (66) the so-called “cupping” of the sealing disk (50) is prevented when the screw (60) is tightened.

  • Patent number: 8027674
Abstract: A wireless multi-cell communication system, such as a time division duplex (TDD) system, includes at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a plurality of base stations which broadcast beacon signals into a plurality of sectors of a cell of the system. Beacon channel acquisition performance is enhanced by reducing beacon channel mutual interference. Each of the base stations broadcasts a beacon signal into at least one of the cell sectors in a first time slot and to at least another one of the cell sectors in a second time slot different from the first time slot. The WTRU determines, at a particular position, which one of the beacon signals has the best signal quality, acquires the one beacon signal and establishes communications via the base station that generated the one beacon signal having the best signal quality.

  • Patent number: 8028217
Abstract: A method and apparatus for encoding and decoding high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) data are disclosed. For part 1 data encoding, a mask may be generated using a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) identity (ID) and a generator matrix with a maximum minimum Hamming distance. For part 2 data encoding, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits are generated based on part 1 data and part 2 data. The number of CRC bits is less than the WTRU ID. The CRC bits and/or the part 2 data are masked with a mask. The mask may be a WTRU ID or a punctured WTRU ID of length equal to the CRC bits. The mask may be generated using the WTRU ID and a generator matrix with a maximum minimum Hamming distance. The masking may be performed after encoding or rate matching.

  • Patent number: 8025103
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for stopping oil and/or gas from spewing from a defective blowout preventer (BOP) stack located on a floor of an ocean by entombing the defective BOP stack. A containment assembly, which is lowered below a surface of the ocean, includes a hollow wall and a large diameter high pressure valve mounted on an upper opening of the containment assembly. The large diameter high pressure valve is maintained in an open position. The containment assembly is positioned on a portion of the ocean floor such that a hollow inner cavity of the containment assembly circumvents the defective BOP stack. The hollow wall is filled with reinforcement material via a first set of valves, and the hollow inner cavity is filled with reinforcement material via a second set of valves. The upper opening may also then be filled with reinforcement material.

  • Patent number: 8023399
Abstract: A plurality of communication bursts are transmitted substantially simultaneously in a time slot of a time division duplex/code division multiple access communication system. The communication system has a maximum number of K midamble shifts. Each burst has an assigned midamble. Each midamble is a shifted version of a basic midamble code having a period of P. A combined signal is received. The combined signal includes a received version of each of the communication burst's midambles. A P by P square circulant matrix is constructed including the K midamble shifts. A channel response is determined for each of the K midamble shifts using a prime factor algorithm (PFA) discrete Fourier transform (DFT) algorithm, the received combined signal and the P by P square circulant matrix. The PFA DFT algorithm has a plurality of stages. Each stage has P inputs.

  • Patent number: 8023463
Abstract: A method and system for an enhanced uplink (EU) operation in a wireless communication system during soft handover. The system comprises a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), at least two Node-Bs, and a radio network controller (RNC). One Node-B may be designated as a primary Node-B, and the primary Node-B may control EU operation during soft handover including uplink scheduling and hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ). Soft buffer corruption is avoided during soft handover by controlling H-ARQ by the primary Node-B. Alternatively, an RNC may control EU operation during soft handover including H-ARQ. In this case, an RNC generates final acknowledge/non-acknowledge (ACK/NACK) decision based on the error check results of the Node-Bs.
