  • Patent number: 7962170
Abstract: A multi-mode wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes at least one antenna, first and second communication mode receivers and a first communication mode transmitter. The first and second receivers simultaneously receive signals from the antenna. The first transmitter generates and sends a first type of signal to the antenna while, at the same time, the second receiver receives a second type of signal from the antenna. In a preferred embodiment, the WTRU further includes a vector multiplier configured to reduce or eliminate interference of signals received by the second receiver, the interference being caused by the first transmitter. The vector multiplier adjusts the phase and amplitude of noise (i.e., spurious in-band noise) measured by the second receiver. The WTRU may further include a second communication mode transmitter configured to generate and send a second type of signal to the antenna.

  • Patent number: 7961593
Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein provides methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for detecting a preamble to enable acquisition of a downlink. In one aspect, there is provided a method. The method may include receiving a plurality of symbols. From an autocorrelation of the received symbols, a guard interval may be detected. The guard interval may represent a receive/transmit transition gap (RTG). A metric may be used to verify whether at least one symbol positioned after the detected guard interval is a preamble. Related systems, apparatus, methods, and/or articles are also described.

  • Patent number: 7955064
Abstract: A device for creating a three-dimensional molded part (30) made from fiber material using of a multiple-part mold (1, 2) whose inside (1a, 2a) determines, at least partially, the contours of the molded part. The fibers are blown into the mold by an air flow using a plurality of nozzles (4) and the air flow then escapes through openings of the mold, so that the fibers accumulate on the inside of the mold, whereupon the fibers are optionally compressed locally before they are bonded with each other through the supply of heat and are finally taken from the mold (1, 2) as a molded part (30). The blowing direction of the nozzles (4, 24, 34) can be pivoted and the pivot axes extend close to the outside of the molded part and the fibers are blown in by the nozzles (4, 24, 34) that are activated at different times.

  • Patent number: 7955463
Abstract: A method for connecting shell parts (01, 02), which have been formed from sheet metal, for example by deep drawing. The shell parts (01, 02) may be any desired workpieces of a chassis part in the form of semifinished items or other components that are suitable for a folded seam connection. For this, the shell parts must have edges which are arranged lying one against the other in the connecting position. The method according includes first arranging the shell parts (1, 2) that are to be connected in a position envisaged for the shell parts (01, 02) in the connected state. Subsequently, the edge (03) of the first shell part (01) is folded around the edge (04) of the second shell part (02), so that a folded seam (06) is formed. After the folding operation, according to the invention the folded seam (06) is heated and subsequently once again pressed together. As a result, a positive and gap-free folded seam connection is achieved, with which the shell parts (01, 02) are permanently firmly connected.

  • Patent number: 7957277
Abstract: A wireless communication system including a mesh network having a plurality of mesh points (MPs), a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs), extra-mesh local area network (LAN) resources, and an external network is disclosed. When one of the MPs receives a packet, a determination is made as to whether the received packet is destined to another MP belonging to the same mesh network, (or to a WTRU served by another MP), and, if so, a determination is made as to whether there are at least two mesh portals in the mesh network that provide access to the external network via the extra-mesh LAN resources. The packet is routed according to an intra-mesh routing algorithm if there are less than two mesh portals in the mesh network. Otherwise, a determination is made as to whether an extra-mesh routing algorithm or an intra-mesh routing algorithm should be used.

  • Patent number: 7955111
Abstract: A plug-type mount is provided for releasably holding an equipment part such as a panel or an interior trim part on a sub-frame such as a fuselage. The plug-type mount (5) includes a first holder (30) and a second holder (35) which can be fastened to one another with the aid of a holding pin (11) and a housing (20), in which the holding pin (11) can be releasably locked. The holders (30, 35) carry in each case at least one electrical contact (33, 34) and are configured in such a way that, in the case of the holding pin (11) being locked in the housing (20), the holders (30, 35) are fastened to one another and the electrical contacts (33, 34) are connected electrically. Excessive cable lengths can be avoided by the preferable use of the plug-type mount (5) in an airplane because the electrical connection is also produced and disconnected as the mechanical connection is produced and disconnected.

  • Patent number: 7958391
Abstract: A fault-tolerant storage system is provided. The storage system is composed of a controller having a plurality of processors and other units. When an error occurs in any one of the components in the controller, the storage system cuts off an I/O path of the controller, specifies the failed component in the cutoff status, and invalidates the failed component. After invalidating the failed component, the storage system determines whether it is operable only with the normal components, cancels (releases) the cutoff of the I/O path when it determines that it is operable, and resumes operation by rebooting.

  • Patent number: 7955048
Abstract: A steam turbine is provided that is configured for post-modification for operation in a carbon capture mode. The turbine includes a turbine rotor, a turbine casing and a plurality of turbine stages. In an initial configuration of the turbine, the turbine rotor and turbine casing are each longer, by respective lengths, than is necessary to accommodate the plurality of turbine stages. The lengths are sufficient to accommodate at least one further turbine stage at an exit of the turbine during the post-modification, such that after modification, the turbine operates with an increased expansion ratio and an increased volumetric flow rate at the exit.

  • Patent number: 7955036
Abstract: A washer (14) and a threaded assembly (22) between a screw (30) and a workpiece (42) are provided. The washer (14) is offset up to an angle (?) with respect to a flat initial state, such that the washer has an insert thickness (De) that is substantially greater than the initial thickness (Da) thereof. The washer (14) is made of a malleable material. The length (Lg) of an unthreaded shank section (40) of the screw (30) is smaller than the sum of the thickness (Dw) of the workpiece (42) and the insert thickness (De) of the washer (14), and essentially not smaller than the sum of the thickness (Dw) of the workpiece (14) and the insert thickness (Da) of the washer (14). When the last thread of the screw (30) leaves the workpiece (42) on being screwed in, the force previously exerted on the washer (14) by the feed of the screw is zero.

  • Patent number: 7958376
Abstract: A digital interface device is provided for facilitating key encryption of a digital signal which is communicated from a computer system to an associated peripheral device, such as a digital display device. The digital interface device has a digital output, digital output formatting circuitry associated with the output and a non-volatile RAM for storing a basic input/output system (BIOS) for, inter alia, controlling digital output formatting. The interface device is configured such that the non-volatile RAM has a specific addressable write-protectable area allocated for storing an encryption key flag at a flag address along with encryption key data. The write-protectable area is rendered read-only when a predetermined flag value is stored at the flag address.
