  • Patent number: 7949827
Abstract: This invention aims to optimize an entire storage system by equalizing the access counts in appropriate units. When migrating data in pool volumes to equalize the data access counts, which data migration—data migration in units of pages or data migration in units of volumes—is most appropriate is judged based on the information stored in an access information table storing access information, which is the information about the access counts for the data stored in the disk drives and, based on the judgment, data is migrated in units of pages or volumes so that the data access counts are equalized among groups. The data migration is repeated until the data access counts are equalized among the groups.

  • Patent number: 7949037
Abstract: A base station for carrier offset recovery. An adaptive matched filter produces a filtered signal. A rake receiver provides relative path values of multipath components. A mixer generates channel impulse response estimates. A channel despreader despreads the filtered signal using the pseudo-noise signal generated to produce a despread channel signal of the selected channel. A pilot channel despreader despreads the filtered signal using a pseudo-noise signal generator to produce a despread pilot signal of the pilot channel. A hard decision processor determines a symbol value of the despread channel signal. A complex conjugate processor generates a complex conjugate of the symbol value as a correction signal. A phase-locked loop produces a phase correction signal to recover carrier offset.

  • Patent number: 7949342
Abstract: A method for radio resource management (RRM) in a wireless local area network (WLAN) having an access point and a station begins by obtaining a first group of parameters from a current traffic channel. Measurements from all available channels are taken for a second group of parameters. The radio resources of the WLAN are autonomously managed by selectively invoking at least one RRM algorithm that uses at least one parameter. A RRM algorithm may be invoked based upon results produced by a previously executed RRM algorithm, whereby RRM algorithms may be continuously invoked such that the radio resources are autonomously managed.

  • Patent number: 7944919
Abstract: A wireless broadcast system that collects content for distribution over a wireless communication network. Multiple content streams are received and interleaved into an aggregate content stream. The aggregate content stream is encapsulated into a stream of transport packets that are ruggedized for broadcast over the wireless communication link. One connection identification is associated with the entire aggregate content stream. The aggregate content stream is packetized into multiple service data units. An identical signal that includes the service data units and one connection identifier is broadcast by multiple synchronized transmitters in a single frequency network. The content can include multimedia data, such as audio/video data, movies, game, audio broadcasts, television network programs, or other types of multimedia content.

  • Patent number: 7944884
Abstract: A method for using orthogonal sub-channels (OSCs) in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). A capability report is received from the WTRU, including an indication whether the WTRU supports OSCs. A determination is made whether to use OSCs for the WTRU and the result of the determination is signaled to the WTRU. If OSCs are used with the WTRU, the signaling includes an OSC assignment for the WTRU. In one embodiment, two resources are assigned to the WTRU and each resource is assigned to a different OSC.

  • Patent number: 7939599
Abstract: This invention is a substantially completely biodegradable high starch polymer using completely biodegradable high polymer polyvinyl alcohol [PVOH] that is made to be compatible with starch. The two ingredients are mixed with the optional addition of elasticity enhancer and supplement agent to better the stability and durability of the products. During the mixing and heating process the starch molecular structures are randomized. The randomized starch molecules, the PVOH, the elasticity enhancer and the supplement then under go the process of co-polymerization. The mixture is then extruded, at a temperature that is above the crystallization temperature of the starch molecules, to form the first stage product, the pellets. The pellets can then be extruded into films using a traditional plastic film extruder.

  • Patent number: 7941151
Abstract: A method and wireless communication system for providing channel assignment information used to support an uplink (UL) channel and a downlink (DL) channel. The system includes at least one Node-B and at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU communicates with the Node-B via a common control channel, the UL channel and the DL channel. The WTRU receives a message from the Node-B via the common control channel. The message includes an indication of whether the message is intended for assigning radio resources to the UL channel or the DL channel. The WTRU determines whether the message is intended for the WTRU and, if so, the WTRU determines whether the message is for assigning radio resources to the UL channel or the DL channel. The WTRU takes an appropriate action based on whether the message is for assigning radio resources to the UL channel or the DL channel.

  • Patent number: 7941647
Abstract: A computer. A processor pipeline alternately executes instructions coded for first and second different computer architectures or coded to implement first and second different processing conventions. A memory stores instructions for execution by the processor pipeline, the memory being divided into pages for management by a virtual memory manager, a single address space of the memory having first and second pages. A memory unit fetches instructions from the memory for execution by the pipeline, and fetches stored indicator elements associated with respective memory pages of the single address space from which the instructions are to be fetched. Each indicator element is designed to store an indication of which of two different computer architectures and/or execution conventions under which instruction data of the associated page are to be executed by the processor pipeline.
