  • Patent number: 8206558
Abstract: A processing apparatus (1) for the processing of process or industrial wastewaters is provided. The processing apparatus (1) has an evaporator (4) in which a tube bundle heat exchanger is provided, whose pure distillate side is connected to a separating apparatus for separating the distillate from floating organic phase or similar free liquid constituents. This separating apparatus is intended to collect the floating organic phase from the condensate, in order that this phase can be sucked back into the evaporator (4). In addition, the vapor mixture is conducted from the separating apparatus (8) to a recuperator (3) and cooled to such an extent that the water, the volatile solvents and the organic material dissolved in the vapor can be condensed and discharged separately or can be sucked back into the evaporator (4). This allows significantly better distillate qualities to be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7944845
Abstract: A packet data system such as a TCP/IP network transmits packets containing a variety of data types along links in the network. Packets are transmitted in a stream between nodes interconnected by the links, which conform to a transport layer protocol such as TCP, UDP, and RSTP, and include wireless links, which transmit packets using a radio frequency (RF) medium. Typical protocols, however, are usually developed to optimize throughput and minimize data error and loss over wired links, and do not lend themselves well to a wireless link. By examining the data in a packet, performance characteristics such as a port number are determined. The performance characteristics indicate the application type, and therefore, the data type, of the packets carried on the connection.

  • Patent number: 7903614
Abstract: A method and apparatus enhance the selection of transport block set size (TBSS), number of spreading codes, and modulation type, referred to collectively as transport format resource combination (TFRC), in a medium access control (MAC) layer for transmission of data in a code division multiple access (CDMA) wireless communication system, preferably a Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS) high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) communication system. The maximum number of spreading codes available for transmission and the set of possible TFRCs are preferably determined based on a channel characteristics provided in part by a channel quality indicator (CQI). For each TBSS value in the set of possible TFRCs, a TFRC is selected with the largest number of spreading codes within the maximum number of spreading codes for which the corresponding coding rate is preferably at least ?.

  • Patent number: 7877359
Abstract: A problem of prior art is that normal backup data is lost as a result of taking a backup by overwriting the normal backup data with data that has been changed greatly from a virus infection or the like. This invention provides a computer system having a storage system. The storage system contains a first storage area and a second storage area for storing a copy of data that is stored in the first storage area at one point in time. Only when the differential amount indicating the difference between data stored in the first storage area and data stored in the second storage area is smaller than a predetermined threshold, the storage system deletes the data which is stored in the second storage area and newly stores a copy of the data stored in the first storage area in the second storage area.

  • Patent number: 7873328
Abstract: A base station for controlling transmission power during the establishment of a communication channel utilizes the reception of a short code during initial power ramp-up. The short code is a sequence for detection by the base station which has a much shorter period than a conventional access code. The ramp-up starts from a power level that is lower than the required power level for detection by the base station. The power of the short code is quickly increased until the signal is detected by the base station. Once the base station detects the short code, it transmits an indication that the short code has been detected.

  • Patent number: 7774200
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing speech in a wireless communication system uses code excited linear prediction (CELP) speech encoded signals. A speech input receives samples of a speech signal and a codebook analysis block selects an index of a code from one or more codebooks. A prediction error between a predicted current sample and a current sample of the speech samples is determined. An innovation sequence is determined based on the prediction error and an index is selected based on the innovation sequence. The index is transmitted to the receiver to enable reconstruction of the speech signal at the receiver.

  • Patent number: 7768953
Abstract: A system and method that achieve power savings by turning off all or some of the baseband processing for codes and timeslots that have not been transmitted due to full DTX. When full DTX is detected by reception of a Special Burst (SB), the receiver is turned off for all timeslots and frames for the duration of the Special Burst Scheduling Period (SBSP). The transmitter schedules transmissions following any idle period to start on the boundary of the SBSP. The receiver determines the SBSP and if the transmitter initiates transmissions according to SBSP by reception of several initial full DTX cycles.

  • Patent number: 7710930
Abstract: A beacon signal used in data communications, such as the IEEE 802.11, is provided with data extensions. The data extensions permit additional information to be provided by the beacon signal, thereby reducing the traffic overhead of the network. The data extensions further permit handoffs and handoffs based on offset values. Periodic beacon requests are made during connection between a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and an access point (AP) on a WLAN. A Measurement Request field corresponding to a beacon request contains a measurement duration value and channel number for which the request applies. The beacon request permits a scan mode which includes “Active Scan” mode, “Passive Scan” mode and “Beacon Table” mode. In Active Scan mode, the measuring station (STA) transmits a probe request with a broadcast SSID.
