Abstract: A method for operating a base station employing a CDMA technique comprises combining a plurality of spread spectrum data signals into a combined signal having a fluctuating power level corresponding to the data signals; modulating the combined signal to produce an RF signal; measuring average power of the combined signal over a selected time period; adaptively limiting the combined signal power to a calculated level based at least in part on the measured power; and transmitting the RF signal.
Abstract: A bed cover (1) with isolated or quilted chambers (3) running parallel to one edge (2) of the bed cover and filled with a heat-insulating material, which is useable in both summer and winter based on different positioning thereof. For this, the neighboring separate chambers (3) are attached, especially sewn, to a flat cloth or similar flat part (4) so that when the flat cloth layer (4) is bent or curved in a sense of an arching of the chambers (3), neighboring boundaries or walls (5) of the chambers (3) are moved apart relative to one another, and in the case of a bend or curvature in an opposite direction the boundaries or walls (5) of the filled chambers (3) come into contact with one another to provide a better insulation.
Abstract: A bearing arrangement (2) in a manual transmission for transferring torque between at least a first guide surface (14b) on a swivel element (14), which can swivel and which is fixed along the bearing relative to the manual transmission, and a second flat guide surface (19a), which can move in the longitudinal direction relative to the bearing (2) and which is supported with the swivel element (14) so that it can swivel at least in the bearing (2). The bearing holds a selector shaft (4) so that it can move in the longitudinal direction and so that it can also swivel, wherein the selector shaft (4) is provided with an adapter (19).
Abstract: An external combustion engine comprising a body (8), at least one working chamber (18), combustion chamber (13), crankcase (21) and compression chamber (6), at least one working piston (20), compression piston (7) and crank mechanism (22), and a valve gear and a heat exchanger, and wherein the required air is drawn by suction from the air surrounding the engine via valves or equivalent. After the working cycle, the expanded hot air is directed from the working chamber (18) through a valve (12) or (24) past the heater (17) into the combustion chamber (13), to be used as combustion air.
Abstract: A code division multiple access base station is used in receiving a plurality of data signals over a shared spectrum. Each received data signal experiences a similar channel response. A combined signal of the received data signals is received over the shared spectrum. The combined signal is sampled at a multiple of the chip rate. A channel response is estimated. A cross correlation matrix is determined using the estimated channel response. The spread data vector is determined using order recursions by determining a first spread data estimate using an element from the cross correlation matrix and recursively determining further estimates using additional elements of the cross correlation matrix. Data of the data signals is estimated using the spread data vector.

Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for transmitting data symbols in a CDMA communication system including a transmitter having an antenna array and a receiver. The system generates a first and second data field of symbols, then encodes them to produce complex conjugates of the respective symbols. A first communication burst including the first and second data fields, which are separated by a midamble, over a first antenna, and a second communication burst produced using said complex conjugates of said first and second data fields, which are separated by a midamble, over a second antenna are then transmitted by the transmitter. The receiver then receives and decodes the first and second communication bursts to recover the first and second data fields.
Abstract: A system facilitates handover of a wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) between a cellular network and a wireless local area network (WLAN). The WLAN communicates with a cellular network. A location of the WTRU is determined. The coverage areas of the WLAN and cellular network are determined. The WTRU is informed of the existence of the WLAN when the WTRU approaches the coverage area of the WLAN. The WTRU is handed over from the cellular network to the WLAN when the WTRU is in the coverage area of the WLAN and vice versa.
Abstract: A spread spectrum communication station simultaneously receives multiple data channels on the same frequency spectrum and at data rates which may individually vary. A determination is made of signal quality based on signal to noise ratio (SNR) the channels by comparing a forward error corrected sample with a corresponding delayed sample. The comparison of the delayed despread data with the decoded data provides the indication of SNR.
Abstract: A wireless communication system comprises first and second communication stations which send and receive symbols in signals in a shared spectrum. The symbols are recovered from the received signals. Codes of the signals are processed using a block Fourier transform (FT), producing a code block diagonal matrix. A channel response matrix is estimated. The channel response matrix is extended and modified to produce a block circulant matrix, and a block FT is taken producing a channel response block diagonal matrix. The code block diagonal matrix is combined with the channel response block diagonal matrix. The received signals are sampled and processed using the combined code block diagonal matrix and channel response block diagonal matrix with a Cholesky algorithm. A block inverse FT is performed on a result of the Cholesky algorithm to produce spread symbols. The spread symbols are despread to recover symbols of the received signals.
