Patent number: 6276402Abstract: A “triple layer” fabric having upper and lower systems of interwoven yarns interconnected into an integral fabric by a system of stitching yarns. Preferably, the fabric is a forming fabric having upper and lower layers of uniformly sized machine direction (MD) yarns. Upper and lower layer cross machine direction (CMD) yarns weave, respectively, with the upper and lower MD yarns to define the upper and lower yarn systems. The lower layer CMD yarns are preferably larger in diameter than the MD yarns. The lower layer CMD yarns weave in a repeat pattern with respect to the lower layer MD yarns such that the lower layer CMD yarns weave in a repeat defined by floats under groups of at least three lower MD yarns and over pairs of adjacent lower MD yarns. Each lower layer MD yarn is in at least two different pairs relative to at least two different lower layer CMD yarns within the repeat which maintains a substantial degree of stacking of the lower layer MD yarns below respective upper layer MD yarns.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2000Date of Patent: August 21, 2001Assignee: AstenJohnson, Inc.Inventor: Samuel H. Patent number: 6227336Abstract: A linear guide having a carrier body that can be moved along a guide track is provided having a brake device with brake shoes acting upon the guide track and a piston which is located in a pressure chamber which can be displaced by a pressure medium in the carrier body. The brake device has a spring acting upon the piston. Pressure plates are provided in the carrier body which are pressed against the brake shoes located on the guide track by the spring when the piston is not being subjected to the pressure medium. This results in a linear guide whose carrier body can be mechanically and reliably locked on the guide track in case of emergencies such as pressure medium outages.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 1999Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Assignee: INA Walzlager Schaeffler oHGInventor: Dietmar Rudy

Patent number: 6206289Abstract: A scanner can read machine-readable code on an object. A scanner has a scanning device, a data device, and a registration device. The scanning device can repetitively scan the code and provide a scan signal repetitively corresponding to at least fragments of the code. The data device is coupled to the scanning device and responds to its scan signal for repetitively storing it. The registration device is coupled to the data device for reconstructing the code from at least two of the fragments of the code by relatively shifting the code fragments until they are in registration.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Accu-Sort Systems, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey G. Patent number: 6193158Abstract: A system for high speed acquisition and decoding of a barcode symbol locates potential barcode candidates within a scanned image and filters the candidates to eliminate invalid data. The system permits computational resources to be focused on decoding information most likely to be an actual barcode symbol. Once a potential barcode candidate has been located, the barcode symbol is processed to determine the barcode orientation and symbology. Each element of the barcode symbol is then located, even if all elements are not visible in the original image, and the barcode symbol is decoded in accordance with the specific symbology.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2000Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Assignee: Accu-Sort Systems, Inc.Inventors: Kurt Hecht, Milorad Neskovic, Vasanth Shreesha, Edward Cohen

Patent number: 6181949Abstract: A system and method of controlling transmission power during the establishment of a channel in a CDMA communication system utilize the transmission of a short code from a subscriber unit to a base station during initial power ramp-up. The short code is a sequence for detection by the base station which has a much shorter period than a conventional spreading code. The ramp-up starts from a power level that is guaranteed to be lower than the required power level for detection by the base station. The subscriber unit quickly increases transmission power while repeatedly transmitting the short code until the signal is detected by the base station. Once the base station detects the short code, it sends an indication to the subscriber unit to cease increasing transmission power. The use of short codes limits power overshoot and interference to other subscriber stations and permits the base station to quickly synchronize to the spreading code used by the subscriber unit.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1998Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Fatih M.
