Abstract: A toolholder for holding a cutting tool such as a tap in the spindle of a machine tool includes a torque-limiting clutch to prevent excessive load being applied to the cutting tool. The clutch comprises at least one ball located in sockets in the driving and driven members but there is an arrangement, whereby at a predetermined critical torque, the ball moves axially out of engagement with one of the driving and driven members to disconnect the drive, and a deflecting device engages with the ball and moves it to a position where it does not encounter the socket from which it has been released or any similar sockets. This prevents wear on the clutch. The toolholder also comprises a conduit system for cutting fluid being fed into a bore in the cutting tool. The conduit extends through a telescopic part of the toolholder and includes a flexible part deviating from a straight linear form, so that it can extend by tending to straighten, in order to accommodate telescopic extension of the toolholder.

Abstract: A strand tension controller which has an elongate strand sensing lever arm having a strand guiding input end and an opposing strand guiding output end with a tension shoe positioned between the input end and the output end of the lever arm for applying tension between a range of zero and a preset maximum tension on the strand. The lever arm is pivoted adjacent the strand engaging output end pivotal movement responsive to strand tension sensed at the opposing strand engaging input end of the lever arm and for subtracting from the tension applied by the tension shoe. The tension is sensed on the strand at the input end of the lever arm. The tension shoe engages a first surface of the lever arm and the strand passes along the top surface of the lever arm from the input to the output end of the lever arm. A pressure responsive expandable fluid reservoir in the form of an air tube controls the force applied to the strand.
Abstract: A rescue balloon for rescuing individuals from high places such as towers and building includes an enclosed envelope for holding heated air under substantially greater than atmospheric pressure with a burner contained within the enclosed envelope for burning a combustible gas to generate sufficient heated air under pressure in the envelope to provide lift to the balloon. A rescue compartment is carried by the envelope for accommodating rescued individuals and a tether is provided for guiding the balloon as necessary to effect rescues. The balloon includes a porous blast shield positioned within the envelope to prevent direct contact between the envelope and the flame of the burner. The blast shield comprises an upright cylinder supported and secured in fixed relation within the envelope by a plurality of catenaries attached to the blast shield and to the inner walls of the envelope around its perimeter. The burn super-pressurizes the heated air within the envelope.
Abstract: A magnetic display holder for hair bows and other accessories having ferromagnetic parts comprising a base defining an outer peripheral edge and a top defining an outer peripheral edge. At least one support member connects the top and base together and supports the top in vertically spaced-apart relation to the base. A thin sheet or a plurality of thin bow-holding strips are connected to the respective peripheral edges of the top and base and extend substantially vertically between the base and the top of the display holder. Each of the strips define an outwardly facing side and an obverse inwardly-facing side. A plurality of magnets are positioned in vertically spaced-apart relation along the inwardly facing side of the bow-holding strips. The magnets exert sufficient magnetic attraction through the bow-holding strips to hold bows or other accessories having ferromagnetic parts solely by magnetic attraction to the outwardly facing side of the strip opposite the magnets.
