Abstract: Disclosed is a method for transmitting messages between a transmitter and a receiver on a channel on which noise may be present. The messages are constituted by a sequence of data and comprise an initial portion (header) containing data to allow recognition of the message, a central portion (body) containing the valid message to transmit and an end portion (tail) containing information to verify the completeness of the message. The method consists in inserting in the message header a signature obtained from the combination of a first fixed part and of a second validation part; and recognizing a valid message received by verifying whether the fixed part of the message received generates the same validation part.
Abstract: An LED luminaire for normal or emergency lighting has a lamp section comprising a least one LED lamp, the LED lamp having an LED chip and a reflector section. The reflector section is formed of silver and is positioned to reflect light from the LED chip. A power section is coupled to supply power to the lamp section. The power section is operable to adjust the power supplied to the lamp section upon detecting an increase in the resistance value at the silver-plated detector of the detector section.
Abstract: To prevent intruders from forcing a deadbolt out of a locking position, the deadbolt has a sleeve defining inside and outside slots. Each of these slots has a horizontal section and a locked position vertical section. Cross members extend through the slots and are placed in the locked position vertical sections when the deadbolt is in the locked position. This prevents the deadbolt from being forcibly unlocked.

A tool adapted for engaging a sidewall of a tire is attached to the support arm. A second stage including a second tool configured for engaging the opposite sidewall of the tire may also extend from the base. A platform assembly having one or more spring-loaded rollers is attached to the base in some embodiments. A longitudinally moveable travel arm includes a jointed auxiliary arm extending therefrom. A wheel clamp includes a plurality of arms, wherein at least one arm is moveable relative to at least one other arm.
Abstract: A magnetic device is provided for placement on the top surface of a printed circuit board with surface mount connection on the bottom surface. The circuit board includes first and second sets of slots bisecting each other. The device includes a bobbin with a plurality of support members each having a face shaped to engage the top surface of the printed circuit board and a plurality of pins attached to the support members. The pins have a first portion shaped to pass through the first set of slots, and a second portion shaped to pass through the second set of slots. The second portion of the pins is shaped to engage the bottom surface of the circuit board, locking the magnetic device in place against the top surface of the circuit board and providing a soldering area for surface mounting on the bottom surface.

Abstract: An energy absorbing tubular structure is formed of a molded or extruded polymer. The tube has a quadrangular cross-section with rounded corners. The walls of tube are corrugated with alternating convex and concave corrugations surfaces having a continuous constant radius, preferably with no flat spots. The corrugated walls have a constant thickness. The corrugations progressively deform during impact thereby providing a near perfect square wave force vs. deflection energy absorption curve at any predetermined nearly constant force level. The tube may be filled with polymer foam to vary the impact performance of the structure.

Abstract: An electronic ballast has control circuitry to operate a gas discharge lamp in both full and dimmed illumination modes. The electronic ballast also includes a full power circuit having a power control coupled to the dimming controller output to receive the dimming controller signal, a filament heating circuit having a heating input coupled to a reduced power circuit to receive a reduced power signal and a heating output that can couple to the filaments of one or more lamps. When the full power circuit receives the dimming controller signal, via the power control, and the dimming controller signal is not in the dimming request range (i.e. the full illumination mode has been selected), the full power circuit generates a full power signal capable of driving/operating the lamp(s) in the full illumination mode. When the reduced power signal is present, the filament heating circuit generates and provides a filament heating signal to the filaments, via the heating output.

Abstract: A constant current source mirror tank dimmable ballast operates multiple high impedance lamps in a stable and balanced manner. The dimmable ballast has an inverter connected to two third-order resonant circuits. These third-order resonant circuits dominate the transfer function of the ballast circuits. Consequently, changes in the impedance of the lamp do not affect the current output to the lamps.
