Abstract: An electronic ballast A includes an inverter circuit for converting a DC voltage into a high-frequency voltage, a resonant circuit which is connected between outputs of the inverter circuit and lights a discharge lamp at a high frequency by a resonant action, a dimming circuit for changing an output voltage to the discharge lamp by changing an operating frequency of the inverter circuit, a DC component detecting circuit for detecting a DC voltage component of the discharge lamp and a control operating circuit which detects an output signal of the DC component detecting circuit for every predetermined period to reduce or stop an output to the discharge lamp in the case where the output signal exceeds a predetermined reference value and to prohibit the protection operation when periodic change amount in the output signal reaches a predetermined value or higher.
Abstract: A ballast circuit includes a filament cutback circuit to reduce a pre-heat voltage after the lamp filaments have been pre-heated. The filament cutback circuit includes a filament cut-back inductive component magnetically coupled to the resonant inductive component in the inverter to receive a filament cutback control voltage associated with an AC voltage for powering the lamps. During the pre-heating period, the filament cutback control voltage is not high enough to charge a chargeable component to a switch threshold level. However, during lamp ignition, the filament cutback control voltage is increased and charges the chargeable component to the switch threshold level. This causes a switch device to operate in a conductive switch state and the filament cutback circuit suppresses the pre-heat voltage.
Abstract: Procedure and device for the micro-mixing of miscible or immiscible fluids through reflux cell, produced by the invasion of one of the fluids going upstream into the feeding tube of the other fluid. This tube is closed and has a tube exit which is placed opposite an area of confluence where the exiting flow of the intercepted fluid meets an approximately perpendicular current of invading fluid, which is radially and centripetally directed to the axis of this exiting flow. The product is released outside through an exit orifice. The edges of the tube exit and the exit orifice are opposite each other and separated by an axial gap; and the penetration of this reflux cell into the feeding tube is regulated by controlling the velocity of the fluid. An application of the invention is the ironing with a steam-aided water spray of drops smaller than 200 microns.

A rotatable locking member is disposed on the distal end of the retractable rod. The locking member includes one or more mounting studs protruding radially therefrom for engaging a centering cone or a wheel clamp. A tool support arm including a stage protrudes from the base. A tool adapted for engaging a sidewall of a tire is attached to support arm. A second stage including a second tool configured for engaging the opposite sidewall of the tire may also extend from the base. A platform assembly having one or more spring-loaded rollers is attached to the base in some embodiments. A longitudinally moveable travel arm includes a jointed auxiliary arm. The auxiliary arm in some embodiments includes a wheel support extending from one of the auxiliary arm members.
Abstract: A DC motor control device calculates motor speed using determinations of motor field flux and armature voltage in the motor. The device includes a control module having one or more control inputs and one or more control outputs. At least one control input is configured to receive data representing field current measured in the DC motor. The control module includes flux curve logic that is responsive to measurements of motor field current to calculate a field flux in the motor. The flux curve logic uses a flux curve stored in the control module, the flux curve representing a functional relationship between field current and field flux in the motor. The flux curve is defined by a plurality of flux curve data points corresponding to a plurality of motor field currents within a lower current range and within an upper current range. The flux curve is further defined by at least a first flux curve line positioned within the lower current range and a second flux curve line positioned within the upper current range.
Abstract: A high-pressure discharge lamp ballast is provided for igniting and re-igniting a high-pressure discharge lamp in various states of operation. A power supply circuit is coupled to a power source and supplies AC power to the lamp. An ignition voltage generating circuit supplies a high-voltage ignition pulse for igniting the lamp. A pulse control circuit alternatively controls the ignition voltage generating circuit in a first control mode to provide the high-voltage ignition pulses for a first time period and in a second control mode to delay the high-voltage ignition pulses for a second time period. An abnormality detection circuit detects an abnormal lighting state of the lamp wherein a measured condition of the lamp corresponds to a predetermined condition. The pulse control circuit increases a ratio of the second time period relative to the first time period upon detection of an abnormal lighting state of the lamp by the abnormality detection circuit.
Abstract: A electronic ballast includes an inverter circuit for converting a DC voltage into a high-frequency voltage, a resonant circuit connected between outputs of the inverter circuit so as to light a discharge lamp by a resonant action, a control circuit for controlling the inverter circuit, a dimming circuit for continuously changing an output voltage to the discharge lamp by changing an operation frequency in the inverter circuit, a DC component detection circuit and a voltage comparator for detecting whether or not the discharge lamp is at the end of the life at predetermined intervals and outputting an end of life detection signal upon detection of the end of the life state, and a frequency control circuit and a driving circuit for reducing or stopping an output to the discharge lamp by controlling switching elements in response to a life end detection signal inputted from the voltage comparator.
Abstract: The invention relates to a road-milling machine which has a ladder 11 to allow the driver's position 7 of the civil engineering machine to be climbed to easily. The ladder is mounted on one 1B of the two longitudinal sides of the frame 1 of the machine to be pivotable about an axis of pivot 27 extending substantially at right angles to the direction of travel. The ladder can thus be folded upwards to widen the working range of the machine. However, should the ladder not be in a state where it is folded upwards while the machine is being used to do work, the ladder cannot be damaged against obstacles which suddenly make an appearance in the working range. Should the ladder hit against an obstacle, the ladder is able to move out of the way of the obstacle by pivoting out of the vertical position in the opposite direction to the direction of travel.

Abstract: A control system is provided for a modulated heating system including at least one modulating water heater and a controller. A deadband control scheme provides for reduced cycling of the modulating heater when total system heat demand falls between the maximum output of one heater and the sum of the maximum output of that one point and the minimum firing point of the next subsequent heater. Condensation of flue gas products is prevented by monitoring flue exhaust temperature for each heater and controlling the modulation of each heater to maintain a minimum heater output sufficiently high to prevent condensation of flue gas products from that heater. Rapid reaction to changes in system heat demand is provided by sensing changes in flow rate in a primary loop of the system and anticipating resulting changes in temperature thus allowing for change in heater output prior to the time the change in flow rate has fully impacted system temperature.
Abstract: A method of controlling a modulating water heater supplying water to a system includes sensing a parameter which changes corresponding to a change in system flow rate, the sensed parameter being a parameter other than system temperature, and then modulating output of the heater in response to a change in the sensed parameter. Early detection of system flow rate changes permits early modulation of water heater output before the changes in flow rate have had time to significantly impact the system temperature.
Abstract: A tool for removing a chisel, in particular from a chisel holder, having a base element which receives an actuating member, wherein the actuating member has an expeller mandrel. The actuating member is adjustable along a displacement direction. In order to be able to perform the removal simply and rapidly, the actuating member of this invention is indirectly or directly coupled to a piston of a fluid-charged cylinder, or to an electric motor unit.

The ballast includes an integrated circuit having at least one inverter drive output and a voltage controlled oscillator input. A first capacitor is coupled to the voltage controlled oscillator input. An oscillating half-bridge inverter is arranged to receive control signals from the drive output and further coupled to the lamp.
