Abstract: A heater comprising two separate tube nests of which one (29) heats the circulating water by condensation and supercooling and the other (39) heats a partial flow of this water by the desuperheating of steam. Steam is admitted through pipe (16). The foregoing partial flow of water comes from the desuperheating zone of a heater located downstream and is admitted through a manifold (41). Pipes (39) are wound round a central drum (43).
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of pharmaceutical preparations based on 5-aminosalicylic acid in which the 5-aminosalicylic acid is mixed with physiologically and toxicologically acceptable, basic auxiliaries and/or buffer mixtures, which in a 1% aqueous solution give pH-values in the range from 8 to 12, and the mixture obtained is processed in known manner to form tablets, film tablets, dragees, capsules or suppositories, or in which the 5-aminosalicylic acid is mixed with a concentrated aqueous solution of the above-mentioned basic auxiliaries and/or buffer mixtures, the 5-aminosalicylic acid salt formed is precipitated, separated off from the aqueous solution and dried and the salt obtained is processed in known manner to form tablets, film tablets, dragees, capsules or suppositories.
Abstract: A thermoformed sheet 1 for a plate-type gas-gas heat exchanger of the type comprising a case in which are stacked parallel plates spaced from each other by lateral spacing means, these plates having at their ends pointed regions provided with elements for alternately closing one of the two sides of the point, the case further comprising walls connected in a fluidtight manner to the pointed portions of the ends of the plates so as to form distinct inlet and outlet conduits for the gases which circulate in a countercurrent manner in the alternating spaces formed by the plates, this sheet being characterized in that it comprises a series of identical rows of elongated patterns 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d having edge portions folded on one side or the other of the sheet, each pattern comprising two parallel longitudinal edge portions 3a, 4a; 3b, 4b; 3c, 4c, 3d, 4d by which it is connected to the adjacent patterns so as to form a row and terminating in two pointed end portions 8a, 9a; 8b, 9b; 8c; 9c; 8d, 9d by which the patter
Abstract: A synergistic, aqueous, free flowing defoaming composition comprising as the primary component an aqueous hydrophobic dispersion of an alcohol of 14-28 carbon atoms, a fatty acid of 14-28 carbon atoms, a soap of a fatty acid of 14-28 carbon atoms and a nonionic or anionic surfactant, and as a secondary component a dispersion of a hydrophobic solid in a water insoluble liquid.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a process of preparing relaxin from aqueous, decaseined milk or milk concentrate. Proteins are precipitated and separated, and a relaxin-containing precipitate is produced subsequently. The relaxin-containing precipitate is then purified in the customary manner. There is also disclosed a pharmaceutically active product containing such relaxin.
Abstract: In a steam generating system, steam condensate extracted from steam used to reheat boiler water in heaters (H1, . . . , H4) is revaporized in the recuperators-vaporizers (RV1, . . . , RV3) by heat exchange contact with the flue gas from boiler (B). The steam thus formed is recycled to contribute to the reheating of the water fed to the boiler.
Abstract: An apparatus for pressure-treating meat, in particular uncooked ham before pickling brine is introduced, is provided with two opposed, rotating pressure rollers supported in a housing, which are provided on their jacket face with protrusions, teeth or studs or ribs extending along or obliquely with respect to the jacket lines. The grooves located between the studs are embodied in gabled fashion, as seen in cross section, on at least one of the pressure rollers. The circumferential circle through the tips of the gables of the grooves may be smaller by 0.5-5 mm, and preferably 1-2 mm, than the circumferential circle around the studs.
Abstract: Apparatus for treating meat, in particular for the purpose of improving its ability to absorb a curing liquid prior to cooking, comprises a frame mounting at least two spaced-apart side-by-side rollers which are rotated in opposite senses as meat to be treated is passed therebetween. To improve the effectiveness of treatment, the rollers are formed as pressure rollers arranged such that the spacing therebetween automatically varies to accommodate different thicknesses of meat. Preferably, each pressure roller is removably mounted in the frame by connecting one end of the roller to a drive shaft by a quick-release coupling and by mounting the other end in a bearing assembly releasably connected to the frame.
Abstract: A traction drive fluid composition comprising the principal component of at least one component represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.5 are each a hydrogen or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and 1, m and n are each 1 to 3, said compound (I) comprising a mixture of 70% or less of the cis-form and 30% or more of the trans-form.
Abstract: A process for selectively separating plutonium from uranium and other metals is disclosed wherein, in order to precipitate and remove the pertaining complexes, use is made of a sufficient quantity of a cationic compound containing at least one group adapted to assert affinity to polar surfaces and containing a radical which has little affinity to water, e.g. surface active agents and the like, and use is made of the capability of Pu.sup.4+ and U.sup.4+ to form nitrato-complexes and of the capability of Pu.sup.4+ and UO.sub.2.sup.2+ to form sulfato-complexes.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a signal pistol which is furnished with a magazine for storing blank cartridges, which magazine can be transported by means of a transport latch arrangement. There is also disclosed an insert for shooting or firing of the signal rockets, which insert is in the form of a magazine slide, associated with the magazine, and having several bores. Each one of the bores communicates via a pertaining flash hole with a pertaining blank cartridge arranged in the magazine. The longitudinal axes of the bores extend at least substantially vertically or vertically slightly inclined forwardly. There can be provided two or more rows of bores in the magazine slide.
Abstract: A device for mounting a turning or milling tool-holder on the slide of a machine-tool, wherein a sleeve is mounted for sliding inside the slide body, said sleeve receiving internally a rotary spindle, and being designed to occupy one position in which it is moved inwards of the body and in which the turning tool-holder is immobilized on the seat of the slide, by means of notchings or serrations, under the action of an axial force exerted by one of the ends of the spindle on the turning tool-holder, and another position in which said sleeve is moved out of the slide body and brought against a centering seat of said body, for which the milling tool-holder is mounted on the end of the spindle which is rotatable under the action of rotating drive means.
