Abstract: A gas converter is disclosed, especially for the treatment, including dissociation, of gases produced in the pyrolysis of waste materials. The converter includes a feeder for airtight feeding of fuel from the upper region of the reactor tower to the bed of hot fuel, a gas outlet, and a slag removal system. The reactor tower is furnished at its lower end near the conduits for the admission of air and gases with a rotating distributor member. The feeder is provided by a bucket-wheel valve arrangement.

Abstract: The invention relates to novel polyalkyl piperidine derivatives and use thereof as stabilizers for polymers.More particularly the invention relates to compounds having the general formula I ##STR1## where R denotes hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl; R.sub.1 and R'.sub.1 denote hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl or aralkyl;R.sub.2 and R'.sub.2 denote hydrogen or methyl;X and X' denote oxygen or NR.sub.3 ;R.sub.3 denotes hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl;A and A' denote (CH.sub.2).sub.m X";m equals 2 or 3;X" has the same meaning as X and X', and n can be 0 or 1.

Abstract: A process for improving traction coefficient of traction drive fluid at high temperatures by using a compound represented by the general formulae (I), (II) or (III) as a base stock of traction drive fluid, ##STR1## (All the symbols are as defined in the appended claims). This process is helpful for reducing the change of traction coefficients over a wide range of from low temperature to high temperature.

Abstract: A connecting device is disclosed for operatively interconnecting a superscture element and an implant member having at least one bore, which device includes a rod member made of a material of construction having a high modulus of elasticity and which device further includes a projection means made of the same material of construction as used for the rod member, or a dissimilar material, and the device further including, as required, an envelope means. There are further disclosed an implant member which includes the aforesaid connecting device, and a method for arranging the connecting device in an implant member.

Abstract: A fluid for traction drive is described, containing a liquid material as a base stock wherein the liquid material is prepared by bringing naphthalene or tetralin into contact with a Friedel-Crafts catalyst and then hydrogenating the resulting compounds. This traction drive fluid exhibits a superior traction coefficient from low temperature to elevated temperature and further has a low viscosity. Thus the fluid contributes to the production of small-sized drive mechanisms and can be widely used in various machines.

Abstract: A rotary dryer for the drying of a moving web of material has a thin-walled shell with lateral heads and bearing journal at each end, and is heated internally with steam. For the discharge of condensate and flash steam a low-pressure syphon rotating with the shell is provided, consisting of syphon shoe, standpipe and outlet pipe. To keep the differential pressure required for the discharge of the mix of condensate plus flash steam as low as possible even in changing operating conditions the invention provides for the arrangement of an internal baffle in the center of the syphon shoe to convey the mix of condensate in flash steam and also to stabilize it. For this purpose the internal baffle may have as supplement also additional internal subdivision chambers. Abstract: An apparatus for determining the blood group of an individual. The apparatus comprises a carrier plate slidably mounted for horizontal movement and adapted to support an analysis holder. The analysis holder is provided with several series of cavities adapted to hold blood samples, agglutination reactants, and mixtures of the two for analysis. A block of distribution needles associated with pumping means is slidably mounted for vertical movement. The number of needles in the distribution block and the number cavities in each series in the analysis holder is the same. The movements of the block of distribution needles and of the carrier plate are synchronized, when initiated, so as to cause blood samples and reactants to be pumped from their respective cavities in the analysis holder through their corresponding needles to analysis cavities. Analysis is by optical density detecting means associated with means for displaying the analytical results.

Abstract: A chain conveyer with accumulator conveyer chains and one or several support members with runner tracks for the continuously circulating chain rollers, or chain, is disclosed. Between the chain rollers there are arranged carrier rollers which are rotatable relative to the chain rollers. The support member exhibits a substantially closed box profile or similar trough-like profile, which includes at its upper end a continuous longitudinal slot for passage therethrough of the carrier rollers. The runner tracks for the chain rollers are respectively arranged on horizontal projections which are joined to respective vertical side walls. The side walls are joined by a lower transverse member.

Abstract: An apparatus for cutting foodstuffs and the like. The apparatus comprises an open-end cutting compartment of rectangular cross-sectional configuration provided with a fixed lateral wall and an oppositely positioned movable lateral press wall. Positioned above and communicating with the cutting compartment is a foodstuff holding compartment from which foodstuff is fed to the cutting compartment. A plate for covering the opening between the holding and cutting compartments is associated with a compacting piston which retracts and repositions the press wall for pre-pressing foodstuff in the cutting compartment. One end of the cutting compartment is provided with means for cutting the foodstuff while the other end is provided with a piston for forcing the foodstuff through the cutting compartment and against the cutting means. A compacting wall for contacting the foodstuff during lateral pre-pressing of the foodstuff is positioned in front of and is adapted to be contacted by the press wall.

Abstract: The invention relates to succinylated proteins, with a degree of succinylation of between 20 to 100%, containing from 0.1 to 20% by weight of iron, obtained by treating succinylated proteins with iron salts in suitable pH ranges. The compounds in question, which are completely tolerated, are characterized by an optimum bioavailability of iron.

Abstract: A pivotable connecting device adapted to transmit rotary motion from a drive member to a driven member while minimizing the effect of torque thereon. The drive member is provided with a fork having first and second shanks each with a threaded hole. The driven member is provided with a coupling plate having a corresponding smooth hole. A screw member for insertion in the holes is provided having a smooth central portion and first and second threaded ends. The diameter of the first threaded shank hole is greater than that of the coupling plate smooth hole, and the diameter of the latter is at least as great as the diameter of the second threaded shank hole. The pitch and helix of the first and second threaded shank holes are identical thereby permitting simultaneous tightening of the first and second threaded screw ends into the corresponding first and second threaded shank holes.
