  • Patent number: 4589354
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a rotating pyrolysis drum for the thermal treatment of waste materials, such as domestic or industrial garbage or the like, with respectively one heated gas collecting chamber for addition and one heated gas collecting chamber for withdrawal, being provided at pertaining end faces of the drum, which chambers are connected to one another via bores in the end faces and by tubes extending through the interior of the drum. At least one seal assembly is arranged between the stationary heated gas collecting chambers and the drum. A seal disc is provided on the circumferential wall of a hollow connection member at the end face of the drum at the inlet side and, respectively, at the outlet side for pyrolysis residues and/or another rotating part of the drum. At the two end faces of the seal disc are arranged contact rings which are slid with play over the connection member and/or the other rotating part and these sealingly contact such end faces.

  • Patent number: 4579219
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a conveyor chain with a plurality of chain rollers, for conveying individual items or similar material handling applications, in which respectively two chain rollers are arranged coaxially at a predetermined distance with respect to one another on a common chain pin in such a way so as to be able to rotate, whereby side bars laterally arranged on the chain pins are used to connect respective sequentially arranged chain rollers, and the individual chain components are adapted to form an endless chain. The chain also includes conveyor rollers on those chain pins which are respectively arranged between two adjacent chain rollers of the chain, and these conveyor rollers have a larger diameter than the chain rollers. Recess-like depressions which are formed between two adjacent conveyor rollers in the chain are filled by bridge-forming space members which are secured on the respective chain pins, or on sleeves.

  • Patent number: 4572665
Abstract: The apparatus described basically includes a vessel (10) which has a horizontal transparent window (11) and contains an index liquid (12). An optical fiber (13) is mounted in this vessel perpendicular to the window (11). Light (14) is launched and focused by a condenser (15) onto fiber (13). The light cone of aperture angle (2.beta.) due to the guided and leaky modes is eliminated using an annular mirror (16) that reflects the remaining portion of the aperture light cone (2.alpha.) escaping laterally from the fiber. This light reflected by the mirror (16) is focused by an annular condenser (18) and reflected onto a detector (20) by a flat mirror (19) with a hole in the center. Measuring the amount of light received by the detector (20) allows the refractive index of the fiber to be determined.

  • Patent number: 4558780
Abstract: An arrangement for conveying of materials on conveyer rollers is disclosed in which the rollers are arranged sequentially one behind the other and the ends are supported in bearings in carrying brackets. The roller shafts are driven, each roller shaft is furnished with a torque transmitter, and the roller shafts are prevented from axial shifting by way of the bearings. At least one carrying bracket is divided, into two parts, at the horizontal central plane of the roller shaft bearing, thereby providing an upper part and a lower part. Dish-like recesses are arranged in the upper part and the lower part, at a distance to one another and in sequence one behind the other, with each recess serving to receive a pertaining roller-shaft bearing.
