Abstract: A connector for providing an electrical connection between an electrical conductor and an electrical terminal. The connector is formed by a body member having a crimpable sleeve for securing the electrical conductor. A slot is formed in the body member for extending around the post of the terminal, and at least one surface of that portion of the body member surrounding the slot is provided with a relatively high frictional surface for engagement with the terminal.
Abstract: A display-mailer assembly in which a display card, having an object to be displayed fastened thereto, is inserted in an outer envelope of a transparent material for containing the display card during display. The envelope is quick-detachably fastened to retain the display card in the envelope and manually activated adhesive is provided on the envelope to enable the display card to be sealed in the envelope after it has been removed therefrom and addressed, to enable the assembly to be mailed.
Abstract: An electrical connector for connecting an electrical conductor to an electrical terminal in which two legs extend from a conductor-engaging sleeve in a spaced parallel relation and at an angle to the axis of the sleeve. An extension is formed on one of the legs and extends at angle to the latter leg. The longitudinal axis of the extension coincides with an extension of the axis of the sleeve.
Abstract: A fluidized bed combustor including a combusting cell for generating flue gases and a gasifier cell for generating a low BTU combustible off-gas. The off-gas is discharged from the vessel and is combusted to raise the temperature of the flue gases before they are passed to a turbine.
Abstract: A closure assembly for a furnace wall in which a plug member is secured to a door shell which, in turn, is pivotally mounted to the furnace wall. A plurality of anchor members are secured to the shell and extend through openings in and are secured relative to the plug member.
Abstract: A heat exchange apparatus in which a plurality of heat exchange tubes are disposed in a enclosure and are supported relative to two opposed upright walls of the enclosure. Each tube is formed in a serpentine manner with adjacent tube sections extending in a vertically spaced parallel relationship between the upright walls. Adjacent tube sections are connected at a distance from each of the walls of between one-fourth and one-third the distance between the two walls.
Abstract: An electrical connector for connecting to a jack having a socket and a rim and including a cylindrical hollow body having a pin and a flared contact member projecting from one end thereof for engaging the socket and the rim respectively. An outer sleeve extends around the body member and is adapted for slidable movement relative to the body member and contact member for compressing the contact member inwardly into engagement with the rim.
Abstract: An apparatus for electrically connecting two audio components for transferring an audio signal between the components in which first and second connector blocks have first terminals for respectively connecting to the conventional terminals of the audio components. Each connector block has a plurality of additional terminals electrically connected to the first terminal. A plurality of electrical conductors, having different electrical current transfer characteristics, are connected between two corresponding additional terminals of the connector blocks to complete the connection.
Abstract: A method and system for controlling the cyclone collection efficiency and recycle rate in a fluidized bed reactor in which air is introduced into the cyclone separator in a direction opposite to that of the flow of the flue gases and entrained solids. The air entrains a portion of the fine solids and passes same through the separator and to a heat recovery area to reduce the solid inventory reduction as needed.
Abstract: A pressurizable tool adapted for expanding a close-fitting sleeve into a tube in a tubesheet. The tool includes a housing containing an axially movable piston and a forward reduced diameter portion and having an elastic expander unit for inserting into the sleeve and tube in a tubesheet. The expander unit consists of at least two elastic rings composed of a polyurethane elastomer material and each having a chamfer provided at the outer edge of the unit forward and rear faces. By pressurizing a port at the housing front end, the piston is moved rearwardly to axially compress and expand the expander rings radially outwardly sufficiently to expand the sleeve firmly into the tube and provide a pressure tight seal therebetween. Following such expansion of the sleeve, the piston is pressurized and moved forward to release the compression on the expander unit rings, so that the tool can be easily withdrawn from the expanded sleeve and tube and inserted into another sleeve and tube for repeated usage.
Abstract: A cable assembly including a plurality of wire conductors of varying diameters and a strand of fibrous material wrapped around each conductor or bundles of conductors.
Abstract: A method for explosively welding a tube to a tubesheet having a cladding extending over an outer surface thereof. A layer of material is bonded over the cladding which absorbs the energy from the shock wave formed by the explosive welding, to prevent breaking up the bond between the cladding and the tubesheet.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for raising and supporting the foundation or slab of a building, in which a lifting assembly engages the lower surface of the foundation or slab and is secured thereto. A piling is disposed adjacent the lifting assembly and is engaged by a driving assembly. A hydraulic ram is connected between the driving assembly and the lifting assembly in the expanded position of the ram so that when said ram is retracted, the piling is driven into the ground until it encounters a predetermined resistance. The ram is further actuated after the predetermined resistance is encountered to raise said foundation or slab a predetermined distance.
Abstract: A fluidized bed reactor and a method of operating same in which a bed of particulate material is supported on a grate in an enclosure. Air is passed through the grate to fluidize the particulate material and promote the combustion of the fuel. At least one separating unit is disposed adjacent each of two walls forming the enclosure for receiving the mixture of air, the gaseous products of combustion and the relative fine particulate material entrained by the air and gaseous products of combustion. Each separating unit operates to separate the particulate material from the mixture, and a distributor unit is associated with each separating unit for receiving the separated particulate material and distributing it to the bed at multiple locations.
Abstract: A foundation piling system in which pilings are used to support a foundation system in soil having a varied composition and moisture content. The pilings extend into concrete grade beams forming a portion of a monolithic system including a concrete slab. Flanges extend from the end portions of the pilings that are disposed in the grade beam and a plurality of horizontally extending reinforcing bars extend through openings in the flanges.
Abstract: A spade lug for connecting an electrical conductor to an electrical terminal in which two legs extend from a base member in a spaced parallel relation. An extension is formed on one of the legs and extends at an angle thereto. In this manner, the legs can extend around a threaded binding post and can be secured thereto by a nut or, alternatively, the extension can be inserted into a terminal having an opening for receiving a conductor or a pin type connector.
Abstract: A fishing lure assembly in which at least one steel ball, or like structure, is moveable in a closed, hollow container, and the container is disposed in a proximate relationship to a hook so that when the assembly is moved through water, the movement of the steel balls in the cylinder generates a noise that attracts the fish.
Abstract: A cyclone separator in which an outer cylinder is formed by a plurality of vertically-extending, spaced, parallel tubes and extends around an inner pipe in a coaxial relationship therewith to define an annular chamber. A portion of the tubes forming the outer cylinder are bent out of the plane of the cylinder to form an inlet opening in a tangential relationship to the annular chamber for receiving gases containing solid particles and directing same through the annular chamber for separating the solid particles from the gas by centrifugal forces. The tubes are bent radially inwardly towards the inner pipe to support the inner cylinder and water is passed through the tubes to cool the outer cylinder.
