Abstract: Preparations for finishing textiles, more especially sheet-form textiles, based on emulsion polymers of vinyl acetate and/or copolymers thereof with dibutyl maleate containing protective colloids in addition to small quantities of standard auxiliaries, wherein the polymer emulsions contain as a protective colloid polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from about 3000 to 50,000 which was at least partly present during the original emulsion polymerization.

Abstract: In a device for inclusion a in point-of-sale shelf unit and for the illumination of sales articles offered, especially in separate surmounted attachments, on the device, the device makes possible the flexible illumination of point-of-sale shelf unit regions while maintaining a planar support surface for the sales articles and without concealing the front edge of the shelf unit. This is attained by providing a substantially parallelepipedonal translucent housing of low height having at least one illuminating body which is arranged inside the region of the front longitudinal side surface and parallelly thereto and which is in part bent backward at right angles into the interior of the housing in the region of laterally adjoining transverse side surfaces of the housing.

Abstract: Oil-in-water emulsions show improved viscosity behavior, more especially an increased viscosity under shear stress, when the continuous aqueous phase contains a combinations of hydrocolloids comprising: (a) at least one water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether; and (b) a cross-linked acrylic acid polymer or copolymer having a weight average molecular weight of from 1,000,000 to 5,000,000; in the form of a water-soluble salt in a quantitative ratio a:b of from 9:1 to 1:9. Cosmetic O/W-creams according to the invention show more "body" when applied to and spread over the skin.
Abstract: N-octyl salicylic acid amide and N-decyl salicylic acid amide, a process for their production from salicylic acid methyl ester and a primary amine, and use of the amides in antimicrobial compositions.

Abstract: Mixtures of(a) at least one alkyl or alkenyl polyethylene glycol ether which is terminally blocked by a hydrophobic radical, and(b) at least one anion-active surfactant are used as collectors in the flotation of non-sulfide ores.
Abstract: A hotmelt adhesive comprising a compatible mixture of at least one polyamide based on dimeric fatty acid, and at least one copolymer or terpolymer based on ethylene, a method for manufacturing the same, and a method for using the same to adhere plastics and metals.

Abstract: Liquid all-purpose preparations of the type containing anionic and/or nonionic surfactants, water soluble builders, and water-soluble solvents are significantly improved by the inclusion of a fat-dissolving agent consisting essentially of a terpene and a solvent based on completely or partially hydrogenated naphthalene.
Abstract: A process for separating non-sulfidic minerals from an ore by flotation in which the ore is contacted with a mixture of(a) at least one adduct of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide with a C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 fatty alcohol and(b) at least one anionic, cationic or ampholytic surfactant.
Abstract: Aqueous hair treatment preparations containing as anionic surfactant an alkylether sulfonate corresponding to the following formulaR.sup.1 --O--(C.sub.n H.sub.2n O).sub.x --(CH.sub.2).sub.y --SO.sub.3 (-)M(+)in which R.sup.1 is a C.sub.8 -C.sub.18 alkyl group, n=2 or 3, x=0 to 20, y=1 to 3 and M(+) is an alkali metal ion. Alkylether sulfonates such as these show high foaming power, are easy to thicken and are stable to hydrolysis in acidic medium. They can be prepared by reaction of corresponding alkylether sulfates with sodium sulfite in aqueous solution and extraction from the reaction mixture with a saturated C.sub.4 -C.sub.6 alcohol.

Abstract: This invention is directed to oxidation hair dye compositions and their use in the dyeing of human hair. The compositions consist essentially of precursors comprising 2,3-diamino-6-methoxy-pyridines and aromatic amines or diamines. The combination of oxidation dye precursors according to the invention gives bright, deep blue dye finishes having high stability to heat and light.

Abstract: A hydrophilic coating is formed on an aluminum surface by the application of an aqueous solution of an amphoteric acrylamide polymer which is dried in place. The polymer solution may contain a cross-linking agent and the dried coating may be subsequently treated to form a water-glass coating.
