  • Patent number: 4731403
Abstract: Lubricants used in forming halogen-containing thermoplastic resin compositions are addition products of mercaptans and olefins and contain at least one free carboxyl group. Of particular interest are addition products of thio carboxylic acids and long chain alpha-olefins. These lubricants are used in amounts of from about 0.05 to about 5 parts per 100 parts of thermoplastic resin composition.

  • Patent number: 4707540
Abstract: Nitramine oxetanes, specifically 3-methyl nitraminomethyl-3-methyl oxetane and 3,3-Bis (methyl nitraminomethyl) oxetane are synthesized. Polyethers are formed incorporating the nitramine oxetanes, which polyethers are curable with isocyanates to form elastomers suitable for use as binders in propellants or the like.

  • Patent number: 4689241
Abstract: Significant improvements in the coating characteristics of electrostatic fluidized beds are obtained by limiting the weight of the fines in the coating powder to certain maximum levels, e.g., no more than 10% by weight of minus 38 micrometer particles. The improvements include faster build rates, higher deposition weights, and deeper penetration into holes, slots or other cavities of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4650617
Abstract: A solventless method for the preparation and storage of uncured low vulnerability ammunition propellant (LOVA) includes blending from about 60 to 80 weight percent of either HMX or RDX oxidizer having a weight mean diameter from 1.0 to 14 microns with a polyurethane binder. A cure effecting amount of cure catalyst may also be included. These ingredients are blended at a temperature below about 110.degree. F., deaired, and optionally stored at low temperatures at a pre-cured condition, extruded and subsequently cured. The products produced thereby have uniquely low burning rates as well as uniquely low burning rate exponents.
