Abstract: A dry film for forming a solder mask includes a cover sheet, a photoimageable composition layer which is curable to form a solder mask and a top coat interposed between the cover sheet and the photoimageable composition layer which is selectively adherent to the photoimageable composition layer. The dry film is applied to a surface of a printed circuit board. With heat, vacuum and mechanical pressure, the photoimageable composition layer is laminated to the irregular surface of the printed circuit board, partially conforming the photoimageable composition layer to the contours thereof. Within about 60 seconds and with the photoimageable composition layer still heated, the cover sheet is peeled away, leaving the top coat as a protective covering over the photoimageable composition layer. Removal of the cover sheet allows the photoimageable composition layer to fully conform to the contours of the printed circuit board. Immediately thereafter, the circuit board is cooled to about ambient temperature or below.

Abstract: Disclosed is a metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) process of depositing an indium oxide or an indium/tin oxide film on a substrate using indium alkyl etherate or indium alkyl etherate and organotin compound precursors, respectively.
Abstract: A deicer composition contains a deicing compound plus between about 0.5 and about 5.0 weight percent of a gelling agent, such as hydroxyethyl cellulose, to minimize spalling of concrete to which the deicer composition is applied.
Abstract: A process for preparing a free-flowing powder is disclosed, which powder is useful in primer compositions. The process comprises the steps of (a) dissolving a polar group-containing modified propylene polymer (MPP) at an elevated temperature in a solvent for the MPP, (b) cooling the solution to precipitate particles of the MPP, (c) collecting the precipitated particles by simultaneously centrifuging and spraying the particles with a liquid capable of removing the solvent from the particles and which is also a solvent for a film forming resin, such as an epoxy, which is present in the primer composition, (d) continuing step (c) until substantially all of the solvent for the MPP has been removed from the particles, and (e) collecting the resulting powder, which has an average particle size of less than about 5 microns.
Abstract: Stable mixed emulsion/dispersions of a liquid polysulfide and an oxidative curative therefor are provided. The liquid polysulfide is emulsified in water using a surfactant with a hydrophile/lipophile balance of between 18 and 20. Particulates of an oxidative curative are separately dispersed with surfactants in water. The emulsions and dispersion are then blended together.
Abstract: Composition comprising a mixture of from about 30% to about 99.9% of a polyolefin base resin; from about 0.1% to about 50% of a graft polymerized block copolymer having polystyrene end blocks and an aliphatic middle block; from 0 to about 40% by weight of an elastomer different from the above components; and from 0 to about 30% by weight of a nonelastomeric second polyolefin made from different monomers from those of the polyolefin base resin. The composition can be used as an adhesive film or tie layer, optinally by coextrusion between layers to be joined. Coatings and coated substrates are also disclosed.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing, from an aqueous basic composition, a primary arsine having one hydrocarbyl group bonded directly to As, the basic composition having been obtained from the combination of components comprising an alkali metal arsenite and a reactive hydrocarbyl halide by combining the aqueous composition with an acidic, nascent hydrogen-generating reducing agent to produce the primary arsine directly from the aqueous composition without isolation of the primary arsonic acid intermediate.
Abstract: A liquid dyestuff, useful as a major component of a ballpoint ink is prepared. A dye base, having both a sulfonic acid group and an azo group bonded to the same aromatic ring system, is provided in the aqueous phase of a two-phase system in which the organic phase is about 30 percent or more benzyl alcohol. In this two-phase system, the dye base is complexed with a diaryl quanidine, and the resulting dye concentrates in the organic solvent phase.

Abstract: A bitumen antistripping agent is prepared by reacting an epoxy compound with either phosphoric acid or a partial ester of phosphoric acid at a molar ratio of between 1:1 and 1:20.
Abstract: Disclosed is a coating resin composition obtained by graft-polymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid to a chlorinated polyolefin in a solvent, esterifying all unsaturated carboxylic acid present in the reaction system, and mixing the obtained composition with a urethane prepolymer so that the weight ratio of the solids of the composition to the solids of the urethane prepolymer is in the range of from 90/10 to 10/90. This composition has a greatly improved gasoline resistance, smell generation is controlled and the storage stability at low temperature is high. The composition is effective as a general-purpose primer showing a high adhesion to inorganic materials, polar resins, non-polar resins, metals, and other materials.

Abstract: ABA triblock and A.sub.n B star polymers are produced by sequential cationic polymerization of 4 and 5 member ring cyclic ethers to initially form a B block and subsequent cationic polymerization of 4 and 5 member ring cyclic ethers to form A blocks at the termini of the B block. The B block is grown from the hydroxyl groups of a polyol having two or more hydroxyl groups, resulting in a B block having terminal hydroxyl functionality of two or greater. In growing each of the B and A blocks, the acid catalyst is used at a molar ratio relative to hydroxyl groups of the polyol initiator of between about 0.05:1 and about 0.5:1.
