Patent number: 4714882Abstract: In accordance with the invention, two detection periods t.sub.2 and t.sub.2 ' are set by the use of a pulse train essentially consisting of three pulses. Free induction decay signals FIDa and FIDb obtained during the two periods, respectively, are stored in respective data files. The measurement is repeated a plurality of times while putting at least one of the three pulses of the pulse train out of phase with the others. The free induction decay signals FIDa and FIDb derived by each measurement are stored in their respective data files. After the measurements, a linear combination of the data items which are stored in the data files assigned either to the signals FIDa or to FIDb is formed. The resultant data is subjected to double Fourier transformation to obtain a two-dimensional NMR spectrum. The manner in which the data items are linearly combined is appropriately selected to obtain a desired kind of two-dimensional NMR spectrum.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1985Date of Patent: December 22, 1987Assignee: JEOL, Ltd.Inventor: Kuniaki Nagayama

Patent number: 4710639Abstract: When ions are implanted into desired locations on a material surface using a focused ion beam system, it is necessary to incline the direction of the implantation at about 7.degree. to a line normal to the material surface. The system according to the present invention uses a deflector consisting of deflecting elements of two stages to deflect an ion beam, for effecting such an inclination. The beam is deflected in a given direction by the deflecting element of the first stage, and then it is deflected in the opposite direction by the deflecting element of the second stage. Since chromatic aberrations of the beam caused by the deflecting elements of the two stages cancel each other, defocusing of the beam on the material due to energy dispersion is suppressed.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1986Date of Patent: December 1, 1987Assignee: Jeol Ltd.Inventor: Hiroshi Sawaragi

Patent number: 4703234Abstract: With an accelerator for accelerating an electron beam by a voltage of about 400 KV having a stability of 10.sup.-6, it is difficult to use a flexible, insulated cable to feed the output from a power supply to an electron beam and an accelerating tube. Accordingly, the present invention employs a rodlike connector instead of such an insulated cable. A guide means is provided to permit the movement of a power supply column in the direction of the axis of the connector. This facilitates cleaning or otherwise maintaining the power supply column, the electron gun, and the accelerating tube.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1985Date of Patent: October 27, 1987Assignee: Jeol Ltd.Inventor: Shoji Kato
