Abstract: A chloroprene copolymer produced by radical copolymerization of 50 to 95% of chloroprene, 5 to 50% of at least one polyether (meth)acrylate of a specific formula, and 0 to 10% of any monomer copolymerizable with chloroprene, these percentages being by weight and based on the total quantity of monomers copolymerized, exhibits a remarkable combination of excellent oil resistance, weathering resistance, heat resistance, and coldness resistance. It was found that even when a polyether molecular chain has poor compatibility with chloroprene rubber, if this chain has an acryloyl or a methacryloyl group at one or both ends thereof, it can be copolymerized with chloroprene, and the resulting chloroprene copolymer processes and above mentioned combination of excellent properties.

Abstract: An autofitting building block has two opposing side surfaces, two opposing end surfaces, a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface has a plurality of dihedral projections which mate with a plurality of dihedral recessions on the bottom surface. The bottom surface has at least one more recession than does the top surface so that a channel is formed between two stacked bricks. Grooves are preferably placed in the end walls which form vertical channels which communicate with the hozizontal passages. A wall made of such bricks is also disclosed. The blocks can be either solid or hollow, and special blocks can be used for the corners and for the ends of the wall.
Abstract: An apparatus for filtering a liquid, includes supplying a starting liquid from a container to a passage of a pipe-like filter set in a filter casing, passing the starting liquid through the passage of the filter thereby to produce the filtrate, sending back the unfiltered liquid to the container, and back washing the filter by means of a hydraulic pressure device having a piston movable in a cylinder in such a manner that the filtrate is moved by the piston of the hydraulic device.

Abstract: A tape feeding direction controlling device for an automatic reversing tape recorder wherein operation of a first or a second high speed operating member during a reproducing operation will cause high speed feeding of a tape in the same or in the opposite direction. The tape feeding direction controlling device comprises a feeding direction controlling member, a high speed change-over member, and a pivotal member connected to be bodily moved by the feeding direction controlling member. Depending upon whether the pivotal member is at its first or second position, it is pivoted in opposite directions by the first or second high speed operating member, and pivotal motion of the pivotal member in one or the other direction moves the high speed change-over member from its neutral position to a first or a second position in which it causes a tape feeding mechanism to feed a tape at a high speed in one or the other direction.
Abstract: A surgical staple has a base portion and a pair of leg portions respectively extending angularly from the opposite ends of the base portion. Each leg portion has at its distal end portion a first inclined surface and a second inclined surface extending from the first inclined surface to the distal end of said leg portion. The first and second inclined surfaces are inclined with respect to the axis of the leg portion. The angle between the first inclined surface and the axis of the leg portion is smaller than the angle between the second inclined surface and the axis of the leg portion. The second inclined surface terminates in a sharp edge at its distal end. For producing the surgical staple, a blade is moved toward each of the leg portions in inclined relation to the axis thereof to shear the leg portion, so that a smooth sheared surface and a coarse ruptured surface are formed on the distal end portion of the leg portion and arranged in this order toward the distal end of the leg portion.
