  • Patent number: 4365401
Abstract: A hydraulic rivet tool having a pair of opposing supports on a frame one of which holds an anvil and the other supporting a hydraulic cylinder. A hollow sleeve is extensible from the cylinder and carries a guide to clamp the workpiece. Contained within the sleeve for relative movement therewith is a dual purpose piston carrying a rivet engaging member. A spring is interconnected between the sleeve and the piston to restrict their relative motion until the sleeve guide has clamped the workpiece. Hydraulic fluid under pressure delivered to the cylinder first causes the piston and sleeve to extend from the hydraulic cylinder and causes the sleeve to clamp the workpiece. The piston then, overcoming the spring restricting the relative motion between it and the sleeve, continues its movement to perform work on the rivet.

  • Patent number: 4364589
Abstract: Structure for locking a latching mechanism provided for controlling the opening of a range oven door selectively closing an oven cavity, so as to prevent the opening thereof when the oven cavity is at a high temperature such as during a pyrolytic self-cleaning operation. The locking device includes a thermal sensor which is caused to be disposed in accurate correlated relationship to the oven wall outwardly thereof as a result of a housing associated with the thermal sensor being secured to the oven wall. Resultingly, the sensor is retained in accurate preselected heat transfer association with the oven cavity while being free of exposure to fumes and gases generated in the oven cavity.

  • Patent number: 4363571
Abstract: A system for moving large quantities of pulverulent material from receiving hoppers, such as those of a fly ash precipitator, into a pressurized air conveyor pipeline. Separate auger conveyors move material from a first line of receiving hoppers and from a second line of receiving hoppers into gravity material inlets at opposite ends of an effectively airtight casing of a pressure mechanical conveyor wherein auger conveyor screws of opposite hand move it toward a central outlet through which it drops into the pressurized air conveyor pipeline. The auger conveyors and the pressure conveyor augers operate continuously; and the system is cycled to alternately feed material into the pressure conveyor casing at receiving hopper pressure, which is about atmospheric pressure, and out of the pressure conveyor casing at pipeline pressure. The cycles of two or more pressure conveyors are out of phase with one another so they feed material into the pipeline consecutively to provide level pipeline flow.

  • Patent number: 4360953
Abstract: A display and burial system wherein a base has a lid member associated therewith which is movable between closed and open viewing positions. A two-part link holds the lid member in open viewing position with one link part pivotally connected to the lid member and the other link part being releasably connectable to a frame member of the base by entry into a slot or recess therein when the link is partially collapsed. An end of the second link part engages a pin within the recess and, thereafter, the lid member is moved to fully open position and the link parts move to a straight-line relation wherein the link is locked to the pin within the recess and the lid member is securely held in open viewing position. A reversal of steps enables disconnection of the link from the base with the link retaining its connection to the lid member and being collapsible to a storage position within the lid member.

  • Patent number: 4360197
Abstract: A spring assembly for supporting a tumbling board including a helical spring and a mounting cap formed of a one piece homogeneous resilient material receiving one end of the spring. The mounting cap has a flat base for abutment with the underside of a tumbling board and a generally cylindrical projection extending from one side of the base into the interior of the spring end. An annular lip extends from the base and is spaced radially outwardly of the projection to define therewith a groove for receipt of the spring end. The groove narrows as the base is approached such that insertion of the spring into the groove will cause the lip and/or the projection to deform so that the resilience of the material of which the cap is formed will wedgingly cause the cap to tightly grasp the spring end. An aperture is provided in the base for receipt of a fastener by which the cap may be secured to a tumbling board and a protective cover is received on the other end of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4358869
Abstract: A driving mechanism for reciprocating a windshield wiper arm having maximum velocity at the mid-portion of the wiper stroke and zero velocity and minimum acceleration at the outboard ends of the stroke. The driving mechanism includes a slotted follower having a semicircular shape with ends pivotally secured to a housing. An output drive shaft extends from the motor housing and has a curved crank attached thereto for rotation. The crank includes a pin at one end which extends into the follower slot for converting the rotary motion of the output drive shaft into reciprocable motion of the follower. The follower transmits the reciprocable motion to a drive shaft connected to the wiper arm for reciprocating the wiper across the windshield surface.
