Abstract: A clock recovery and data separator system of the type described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,456,890 is improved by the inclusion of a detector for detecting the trend of instantaneous media speed variation (ISV). The system includes a phase locked loop in which the ISV trend detector is placed between the output of the phase detector and the input of an up/down counter whose output is passed through a digital to analog converter to control the VCO. The ISV trend detector provides a signal which partially compensates phase shift, thereby permitting rapid data recovery performance.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a mucopolysaccharide fraction obtainable from heparin or from fractions including heparinic constituents of molecular weights from 2000 to 50,000, which has a Yin-Wessler titer which is high relative to the USP titer. It contains components whose molecular weights are less than 10,000, particularly oligosaccharides in the area of 2000-3000, comprising from 8 to 12, notably 10 monosaccharide units, among which glucosamine units whose primary positions are sulphated. The last mentioned oligosaccharides include one N-acetyl-glucosamine unit per two units of 2-O-sulphate iduronic acid and per two N-sulphate-glucosamine units, the other saccharide units being of a different nature and including distinct substituents.

Abstract: A wall is provided with an outer facade comprised of a cladding element which contains an insulating core. The cladding element includes a central band having flanges extending from opposing edges, on the same side of the plane defined by the central band. Each of the flanges includes a row of venting holes and a ratchet blade protruding from the flange and adapted for interlocking connection with the ratchet blade of a corresponding, adjacent cladding element. Abstract: An apparatus for loading and unloading the leader block of an IBM 3480 tape cartridge uses a loading/unloading mechanism which is directly associated with the take-up reel of the apparatus rather than a separate mechanism. The take-up reel of the apparatus is provided with a linkage which extends from the periphery of the take-up reel, and which has a pin for engaging the leader block of the tape cartridge. The pin of the linkage is caused to proceed along a specified path, following a camming surface under the influence of an over-center spring, to transfer the leader block from the tape cartridge, through its specified tape path, to the take-up reel, and vice versa.

Abstract: In a multicell electric storage battery designed for central gas release, before being released into the open air the battery gases pass through a container positioned on the block casing in which the acid particles and moisture are separated from the gases as a consequence of the gases being repeatedly deflected by a series of walls placed in the path of the gases, which may be perforated if desired, and the dehumidified gases are then passed through a porous flame-protection frit. Flashback of a flame caused by external ignition of the gases is prevented by rapid burn-off of the gases in a flame extinguishing chamber preceding the frit.
