  • Patent number: 4884025
Abstract: With electric valves (7) having several series-connected thyristore (T1 . . . Tn; T1' . . . Tn'), individual thyristors may become defective, so that they do not withstand the blocking voltage applied to them. For the simplified checking of such defects, a process is specified which does not require any individual monitoring on the spot, i.e. for high potential. For this purpose, in the blocked state of the valve (7), all thyristors of one current direction, apart from at least one thyristor being tested, are triggered within a predeterminable triggering interval. If a valve current (i.sub.R) then flows, an indicating and registering device (A1 . . . An) indicates in which thyristor stage the defect has occurred. This status check is preceded by a preliminary test in which it is checked whether all thyristor triggering channels are in order. All thyristors are triggered in this test. If no valve current (i.sub.R) occurs, a triggering channel fault signal (S.sub.U0) is generated.

  • Patent number: 4882015
Abstract: Friction spinning elements, in the form of drums or discs comprising perforated friction spinning bodies are subject to the requirement that, on the one hand, the entry section of each hole should be as small as possible, in order to prevent penetration of fibers wherever possible. On the other hand, the form of each hole in the longitudinal direction, as viewed in the airflow direction, should be as favorable as possible aerodynamically so that a hole acting as a nozzle generates the lowest possible air resistance. Further, the form of the hole viewed along its length should be selected such that dirt and dust or other contaminants which may penetrate into the hole do not remain caught therein. It has been established that in galvanically formed perforated bodies there is a tendency for each hole to become larger in section with increasing wall thickness, thus giving each hole a diffusor-like longitudinal section as viewed in the airflow direction.

  • Patent number: 4877570
Abstract: For continuously crimping thermoplastic filaments, a filament bundle is blown by a jet nozzle into a stuffing chamber of a texturing wheel to produce a crimped filament bundle in the stuffing chamber. The stuffing chamber has a receiving zone, a treatment zone and a delivery zone. The filament bundle is subjected to a texturing or crimping treatment in the receiving zone and, depending upon the fiber material to pe processed, undergoes a heating or cooling treatment in the treatment zone. The heating or cooling treatment is accomplished by a blowing agent which blows a gaseous medium into the stuffing chamber. At the delivery zone, the crimped filament bundle is taken-off or lifted-out of the stuffing chamber by fiber bundle-lifting means and moved towards a suction drum receiving the filament bundle.

  • Patent number: 4874243
Abstract: In the measuring chamber the flow of the fluid to be monitored impinges at an angle upon the end window of the measuring probe. Due to the thus occurring self-cleaning action, no deposit forms at the end window and which deposit would falsify the meaurement. In the event of small fluid quantity throughputs and flow rate and thus insufficient cleaning action, a nozzle ia provided for producing a jet which is directly aimed at the end window. The fluid is irradiated in the region of the measuring probe by using ray guides. If particles causing turbidity are contained in the fluid, the rays will be reflected, collected by the optical system and supplied to a receiver through a ray guide.

  • Patent number: 4873621
Abstract: The method of regulation employs a simulation process for at least one state variable of an apparatus to be controlled and regulates the state variable. In the process, a curve of an operating characteristic having its base at an idle state value is traversed up to an operating state value. When re-regulating, the regulation process begins at the current value of the state variable. The value of the regulation variable corresponds to the idle state. This has the advantage of a defined initial point for re-regulation. A regulating device for performing the method of regulation comprises a series circuit containing an input circuit, a regulation circuit with a simulation device for regulating an apparatus as well as a control circuit for possible machines coupled to the apparatus. The simulation device is adjustable according to operating characteristics or apparatus parameters. Another regulating device fulfills the same function while employing a computer and correspondingly modified circuits.

  • Patent number: 4871414
Abstract: A band or strap of thermoplastic material which has been placed around a package or article being wrapped is put under tension by means of a tensioning device. The connection apparatus for connecting overlapping ends of the thermoplastic band material is placed within the area of the band or strap under tension and is used to connect these overlapping ends together. The connection apparatus welds the overlapping ends of the strap together using friction by rubbing the lowermost end in a transverse direction with repsect to the longitudinal axis of the band or strap against the uppermost strap end by means of a vibrating or oscillating welding jaw. The welding jaw is driven by an internal battery-powered DC-motor. The connection apparatus is especially well suited for use with a separate tensioning device and can be used in lieu of previously used seal clamps or pliers, independent from a connection with an electric power network or a source of compressed air.

  • Patent number: 4869873
Abstract: The measuring probe is equipped with a pellistor and renders possible directly determining in a trouble-free manner volatile constituents which are contained in a liquid medium to be investigated and which can be chemically converted with an accompanying heat effect. Heating devices are provided and, due to the prevention of condensate formation, greatly contribute to obtaining high measuring precision. The response time of the measuring probe can also be significantly reduced by heating a membrane which separates a measuring space containing the pellistor from the liquid medium to be investigated. The measuring probe can be used with advantage for monitoring microbiological processes, for example, in a fermenter.

  • Patent number: 4867386
Abstract: Each of the thread guide wings comprises a pair of leg members. Teeth located at the leg members of each pair mesh with an associated gear secured to an associated concentrically arranged adjustment shaft. By accomplishing relative motion between the adjustment shafts, which carry the thread guide wings, and the associated gear it is possible to adjust the diameter or lengthwise extent of the thread guide wings by displacing the leg members. A corresponding reduction or enlargement of the diameter or lengthwise extent of the thread guide wings causes a displacement of the thread transfer points and thus the stroke along which the thread is shifted. Altering the thread stroke can be accomplished by a stepping motor or as a function of the diameter of the bobbin upon which the thread is wound.
