Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for intersymbol interference encoding in a solid state drive. In an illustrative embodiment, an nth data signal is received as input to a processing component. Abstract: A pulse width modulated fluidic valve 3005 includes a cylinder (352) having an elongate bore, a length, and first (344) and second (346) ports which extend from outside the cylinder (352) into the bore. A rotatable spool (302) is carried in the bore and movable in a direction of the length of cylinder (352). The spool (302) has a variable blocking feature (306) which blocks passage of fluid' between the first (344) and second (346) ports as a function of angular position relative to the first (344) and second (346) ports and as a function of linear position along the length of the cylinder (352).
Abstract: A bicycle handle assembly, of which the position of the handle grip can be freely adjusted according to the need of the rider, enabling the rider to ride the bicycle in a comfortable posture. The bicycle handle assembly includes: a stem prepared on a front-wheel fork of a bicycle; a handlebar installed on the stem; a handle grip coupled to either end of the handlebar; a ball joint prepared between the handlebar and the handle grip to enable the handle grip to rotate; and a securing element installed on the ball joint to secure the handle grip in a particular position. The bicycle handle assembly makes it possible to freely adjust the positions of the handle grips according to the need of the rider, thereby distributing the load that may otherwise be concentrated on the wrists and preventing pain and injury.

Abstract: A method of transmitting voice frames, via a transmission channel reserved for voice data, by a transmitting terminal generating voice frames using a voice signal is proposed. Such a method includes steps of: obtaining non-voice data; selecting voice data from the voice frame according to configuration data obtained beforehand relative to the transmission of non-voice data on the reserved channel; constructing of a degraded voice frame by replacing selected voice data with non-voice data; transmitting the degraded voice frame via the reserved channel to a receiving terminal. On the receiving terminal side, a method of managing voice frames coming from the transmitting terminal is proposed including the steps of: detecting a non-voice data header included in the voice frame; extracting, from the voice frame, of non-voice data, according to configuration data read in the header; transmitting of extracted non-voice data to a processor of non-voice data.
Abstract: A statistical language model is trained for use in a directory assistance system using the data in a directory assistance listing corpus. Calculations are made to determine how important words in the corpus are in distinguishing a listing from other listings, and how likely words are to be omitted or added by a user. The language model is trained using these calculations.

Abstract: An automatic speech recognition system recognizes user changes to dictated text and infers whether such changes result from the user changing his/her mind, or whether such changes are a result of a recognition error. If a recognition error is detected, the system uses the type of user correction to modify itself to reduce the chance that such recognition error will occur again. Accordingly, the system and methods provide for significant speech recognition learning with little or no additional user interaction.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for determining travel time through intersections by assigning an initial position for a virtual probe in the intersection and updating the position and velocity for the virtual probe such that the position and velocity of the virtual probe are determined multiple times from a time when the virtual probe is at an initial position until the time when the updated position of the virtual probe is past a stop line at the intersection. Updating the position and velocity of the virtual probe involves retrieving vehicle detection data and traffic control signal data to determine a distance from the virtual probe to the closer of a stop line and a vehicle in a queue in front of the virtual probe. The length of the queue is determined using the intersection of two shockwaves.
