Abstract: A pole tip shield for a write element of a recording head is disclosed. The pole tip shield is spaced from the pole tip in the leading edge direction to provide a magnetic wall angle to reduce ATI or adjacent track erasure to compensate for the skew angle of the head. In illustrated embodiments, the pole tip shield includes side portions. In illustrated embodiments the pole tip shield is generally “U” shaped and side portions of the pole tip shield include different thickness or width dimensions. In illustrated embodiments, the pole tip shield provides a magnetic wall angle for a rectangular shaped pole tip. Abstract: A method for improving the efficiency of the electron-beam exposure is provided, comprising: step 1) coating a positive photoresist on a wafer to be processed, and performing a pre-baking; step 2) separating pattern data, optically exposing a group of relatively large patterns, and then performing a post-baking; step 3) developing the positive photoresist; step 4) performing a plasma fluorination; step 5) performing a baking to solidify the photoresist; step 6) coating a negative electron-beam resist and performing a pre-baking; step 7) electron-beam exposing a group of fine patterns; step 8) performing a post-baking; and step 9) developing the negative electron-beam resist, so that the fabrication of the patterns is finished. According to the invention, it is possible to save 30-60% of the exposure time. Thus, the exposure efficiency is significantly improved, and the cost is greatly reduced. Further, the method is totally compatible with the CMOS processes, without the need of any special equipments.

Abstract: A sample feeding device for a trace detector is disclosed. The sample feeding device comprises: a sample feeding chamber disposed in the sample feeding device to desorb a sample from a sample feeding member; and a valve assembly configured to fluidly communicate the sample feeding chamber with a drift tube of the trace detector during feeding sample. With the above configuration of the present invention, for example, the sensitivity of the detector can be increased by improving the permeation ratio of the sample. In addition, interior environment of the drift tube is isolated from exterior environment to avoid a drift region of the drift tube from being polluted. The important parameters, such as sensitivity, a position of a peak of a substance, a resolution, of the detector can be kept constant. As a result, operation reliability and consistency of the detector can be achieved.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for generating reports and other outputs from a computer program. A user first defines a focus area, composed of chosen data types and then creates a row definition for the focus area. In defining the row definition the user defines groups and subgroups from the data represented by the focus. This definition process allows the user to generate reports from data organized in similar rows. The user has the ability to define the data to be included in the report through the use of an expression. The expression can also be used to exclude data from the report. Additional embodiments allow the user to verify the use of data and if the data has been used multiple times, and to capture on the output the missings and duplicates.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method is adapted to tracking input with a device. The method includes an act of monitoring and acts of activating and displaying if a touch input is detected. The device has a first side and a second side, with the second side opposite the first side. The device has a display screen disposed on the first side, and a screen-reflective interface disposed on the second side. Respective positions on the screen-reflective interface correspond to respective locations of the display screen. The screen-reflective interface of the device is monitored. If a touch input is detected on the screen-reflective interface, the device performs acts of activating and displaying. Specifically, a tracking state is activated for the screen-reflective interface responsive to the detected touch input on the screen-reflective interface. The interface icon is displayed on the display screen to indicate that the tracking state has been activated.

Abstract: A method of manipulating allogeneic cells for use in allogeneic cell therapy protocols is described. The method provides a composition of highly activated allogeneic T-cells which are infused into immunocompetent cancer patients to elicit a novel anti-tumor immune mechanism called the “Mirror Effect”. In contrast to current allogeneic cell therapy protocols where T-cells in the graft mediate the beneficial graft vs. tumor (GVT) and detrimental graft vs. host (GVH) effects, the allogeneic cells of the present invention stimulate host T-cells to mediate the “mirror” of these effects. The mirror of the GVT effect is the host vs. tumor (HVT) effect. The “mirror” of the GVH effect is the host vs. graft (HVG) effect. The effectiveness and widespread application of the anti-tumor GVT effect is limited by the severe toxicity of the GVH effect. In the present invention, the anti-tumor HVT effect occurs in conjunction with a non-toxic HVG rejection effect.
Abstract: A system for presentation of help files on a computer with an operating system and a display is provided. Presentation-independent information associated with an application is stored on the computer. A help application is adapted to access the presentation-independent information based on user interactions and automatically to select between available rendering applications at runtime for displaying the presentation-independent information on the display.

Abstract: A word is selected from a received text and features are identified from the word. The features are applied to a model to identify probabilities for sets of part-of-speech tags. The probabilities for the sets of part-of-speech tags are used to weight scores for possible part-of-speech tags for the selected word to form weighted scores. The weighted scores are used to select a part-of-speech tag for the word and the selected part of speech tag is stored or output. The scores for the possible part-of-speech tags are based on variational approximation parameters trained from a sparse prior over probability distributions describing the probability of a part-of-speech tag given a word.

Abstract: A control lever assembly for a tilt-rotor aircraft, comprises at least one control lever which is movable relative to a control lever support. The control lever support has a rotational position that varies in correspondence with the tilt of the rotor of the aircraft. For example, the control lever support is movable by an actuator between a first position, in the airplane mode of the aircraft, in which the control lever moves substantially horizontally and a second position, in the helicopter mode of the aircraft, in which the control lever moves substantially vertically.
Abstract: A device is provided for stimulating select body tissues and organs from within a compartment in a body. The device includes a tube having a distal end, a proximal end and a plurality of lumens. At least one distendable element is located along and coupled to the tube in closer proximity to the distal end than to the proximal end. Each distendable element is configured to expand against the compartment into a first position and contract within the compartment into a second position. At least one electrical component is in association with each of the distendable elements and configured to activate and deactivate electrical stimulation to the select body tissues and organs. The expansion and contraction of each distendable element and the activation and deactivation of each electrical component in the compartment is repeated over a period of time.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of synchronising a device for receiving scrambled data, using at least one periodic scrambling sequence which is divided into K time intervals, each interval comprising N bit periods known as symbols. In particular, one such method includes calculating a synchronisation value of at least one polynomial that generates the aforementioned scrambling sequence within a pre-determined synchronisation time interval and synchronisation bit period. During the calculation step, the sequence is progressed through at increments of at least one time interval and at least one bit period, using a matrix calculation of the synchronisation value.
