  • Patent number: 7441927
Abstract: A lens with lenticules arranged in a spiral pattern is described. In polar coordinates the centers of successive lenticules are radially and angularly spaced by spacing factors including Phi, the conjugate of the Golden Ratio. The resulting spiraling lenticule pattern is free of internal harmonics that lead to striation patterns in the lens refracted light. At the same time the size of the beam spot can be set by reflector size and lenticule profile.

  • Patent number: 7417364
Abstract: A light source includes a lamp and housing. The housing has a right-angle form with a first leg for the lamp, a second leg for connecting leads for the lamp and a jointure between the legs having an aperture allowing access to the connecting leads and lead-ins. The aperture has a bottom containing openings for the lamp leads-in and a contiguous sidewall containing openings for the connecting leads. The lead-ins and connecting leads are attached in the aperture to form lugs. A cover for closing the aperture has an area matching the area of the aperture and has outer and inner surfaces. The inner surface has a central boss and depending flanges that, when fitted into the aperture after a sealant has been dispensed therein, the boss extends between the lugs and the flanges extend outside the lugs, serving to displace the sealant and force it to surround the lugs.

  • Patent number: 7416324
Abstract: A vehicle light assembly may be made from a lamp having a plurality of LED light sources arrayed circumferentially around the lamp; a reflector body having a reflector axis generally directed to a field to be illuminated. A plurality of reflective surfaces is formed on the front side, the respective reflective surfaces separated by one or more axially extending walls. A through passage is formed in the reflector body, sized and shaped to receive a portion of the lamp, and intersecting a planar extension of at least one of the axially extending walls separating a first reflective surface from a second reflective surface. The planar extension intersects the lamp between a first LED and a second LED whereby light form the first LED substantially shines toward the first reflective surface and the light from the second LED shines toward the second reflective surface.

  • Patent number: 7390139
Abstract: A minimal volume boss may be formed as key and keyway assembly defining a shaft along the interface between the two pieces. A threaded fastener may be threaded into the shaft to lock the two pieces together. Because the key can have minimal volume, the cavitation spot opposite the key, typically formed during molding can be eliminated on fine surfaces. By properly keying the pieces, rotation between parts can also be eliminated. This helps automated torque sensing tools read and apply the proper torque in automated assembly.

  • Patent number: 7360925
Abstract: A compact LED light source providing intensive LED positioning along with thermal dissipation can be made with a heat conductive plate supporting a plurality of LEDs mounted on the plate and in thermal contact with the plate. The plate further supports electrical circuitry providing electrical connection to the LEDs. A heat conductive stem mechanically supports the plate and may provide a thermal conduction path from the plate away from the LEDs. A high concentration of LED can then be conveniently mounted and held in close proximity for increased optical system intensity, while providing a thermal exit path for the associated increase in heat concentration.
