Abstract: The invention relates to a lamp base having fastening means for a lamp vessel, having a base part that consists of an electrically insulating material and that is equipped with at least two first electric contacts that serve the power supply of at least one luminous means, wherein said base part has at least two second electric contacts, in each case one of said second electric contacts being connected in an electrically conducting fashion to in each case one of said first electric contacts.
Abstract: An LED light source has a housing having a base. A hollow core projects from the base and is arrayed about a longitudinal axis. A printed circuit board is positioned in the base at one end of the hollow core and has a plurality of LEDs operatively fixed thereto about the center thereof. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the hollow core is tubular and the printed circuit board is circular. A light guide with a body that, in a preferred embodiment, is cup-shaped as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4a, has a given wall thickness “T”. The light guide is positioned in the hollow core and has a first end in operative relation with the plurality of LEDs and a second end projecting beyond the hollow core. The thickness “T” is at least large enough to encompass the emitting area of the LEDs that are employed with it.
Abstract: A compact LED light source providing intensive LED positioning along with thermal dissipation can be made with a heat conductive plate supporting a plurality of LEDs mounted on the plate and in thermal contact with the plate. The plate further supports electrical circuitry providing electrical connection to the LEDs. A heat conductive stem mechanically supports the plate and may provide a thermal conduction path from the plate away from the LEDs. A high concentration of LED can then be conveniently mounted and held in close proximity for increased optical system intensity, while providing a thermal exit path for the associated increase in heat concentration.
Abstract: An LED light source has a housing with a hollow projecting core. The core is arrayed about a longitudinal axis. A printed circuit board closes an open end of the housing at a core end and has LEDs operatively fixed about the center thereof. A light guide with a wall thickness T is positioned in the core and has a first end in operative relationship with the plurality of LEDs and a second end projecting beyond the hollow core. A first reflector is attached to the second end of the light guide. The housing is thermally conductive to form an extended and integral heat sink and has an extended body-part that preferably is provided with heat-radiating fins. A preferred material for the housing is thermally conductive plastic. The printed circuit board has a thermally conducive base that is in direct contact with the housing via an upstanding V-shaped rim.
