Patent number: 4300874Abstract: A rotary machine particularly intended for use as a pump comprises a two-lobe lenticular rotor rotatably disposed within a pump chamber defined by an annular wall with an inner surface having at least in part a cardioidal configuration. A rectangular drive plate on a shaft is disposed within an elongated drive slot in the rotor while a circular guide disc fixed on an end wall of the pump casing extends into a second elongated guide slot in the rotor. The second guide slot is perpendicular to the first slot so that, during operation, the rotor effectively reciprocates and rotates relative to the guide disc. If desired, two such circular guide discs can be provided, one on each end wall of the pump casing, for reciprocation and rotation relative to two such second guide slots in opposite faces of the rotor.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1979Date of Patent: November 17, 1981Assignee: Capella Inc.Inventor: Georgi D. Patent number: 4298011Abstract: A collector of a blood sample from a body member comprising a hollow container which is closed at both ends and has a hypodermic needle projecting from one of the ends and extending into the interior of the container. An arcuate disc of a frangible, inert material is sealingly positioned within the container to divide it into two compartments, one containing a blood culturing medium, the other air. An elongated tube engages the interior end of the needle and passes through the disc into the air chamber. When the wall of the container is deflected inwardly to expel the air to create a negative pressure condition within the container, the disc is broken thus allowing the blood drawn into the container when the wall is released to mix with the medium.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1979Date of Patent: November 3, 1981Inventors: Henry H. Mangurten, Chester F. Vanek

Patent number: 4285343Abstract: The present invention provides a central elongate highly-absorptive pad element having side panels extending laterally therefrom. The side panels may be formed as an integral part of the invention or may be formed separately and secured to the longitudinal edges of the central element. The lines of common juncture between the central element and the side panels provides flexibility so that the side panels may be folded over the upper surface of the central element for packaging and may be folded toward the back side of the central element when the invention is used. The central element and the side elements have a fluid-impervious backing upon which is placed a thin layer of flexible adhesive which will not penetrate the absorbent materials placed thereon. The central element has a highly-absorptive pad means whereas the absorptive means on the side panels may be minimal. The backing element of the central portion of the invention contains a strip of adhesive covered by a protective tape until use.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1979Date of Patent: August 25, 1981Inventor: Rosetta M. Patent number: 4257163Abstract: A multi-function hydraulic tool especially intended for use in automobile servicing operations comprises a hydraulic cylinder housing a piston. At least one arm is secured to the outside of the cylinder and projects axially therefrom. A seating is secured to the arm forwardly of the open end of the cylinder so as to support one member when axial force is applied by the piston to a different cooperating member so as to cause relative movement of such members. The tool can be used for a variety of purposes, for example, for removing a bearing from a shaft and its arm is usefully releasably secured to the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1979Date of Patent: March 24, 1981Inventor: Wolfgang Bauer

Patent number: 4237646Abstract: The portable fish catcher comprises a fish trap of a type employing gill netting which is attached at top and bottom respectively to a pair of rings which may be oval, triangular, rectilinear, round, or other geometrical configuration. Additional steadiness of the catcher is provided by flexible lines interconnecting the two rings which lines are placed on the inside of the gill netting. The top ring has attached thereto a float so that when the catcher is placed in the water, the weight of the rings extends the catcher downwardly. Bait is suspended within the catcher by attachment to the tilt ring or to the float. The float attached to the top ring has means thereon for attaching a line so that the catcher may be retrieved. The weight of the rings causes the catcher to be extended to the full length of the interconnecting lines. When the catcher is not in use, it collapses to the height of the diameter of the two rings plus the float.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1978Date of Patent: December 9, 1980Inventor: Priestly G. Mims, III

Patent number: 4232724Abstract: A partition system having partition panels each of which is provided with one or a pair of outwardly directed connector grooves extending vertically from top to bottom of the panes at each end. Each groove is provided with a narrow open mouth and an enlarged interior. The narrow open mouth portion of each groove is oriented so that it is directed at an outward angle with respect to the end of the panel so that the pair of grooves are arranged in an essentially divergent manner. A connection member consisting of a continuous plastic extrusion is provided having a central web portion, and enlarged bulbous rib members extending down either end of the web, the rib members having a shape essentially the same as the cross-section of the connector grooves, and being adapted to be received within the grooves of two adjacent partition panels, whereby the panels may be joined together edge to edge, along either corner of an end of said panels.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1978Date of Patent: November 11, 1980Assignee: Nightingale Industries LimitedInventor: Mortimer Brown
