  • Patent number: 6102624
Abstract: A replacement pipe is installed within an existing service pipe (1) by first advancing a sealing means (6,8) along the existing pipe to a position adjacent its junction with a main pipe (2), then deploying the sealing means to seal against the inner surface of the existing pipe) in the example shown, by pumping sealant (10) into the space between the seal body (6) and the pipe (1), and subsequently advancing the replacement pipe along the existing pipe. The space between the two pipes is then filled with sealant and finally the sealing means is opened, in the example shown by withdrawing a guide rod (5) and its collar (7) on which the sealing means was advanced into position.

  • Patent number: 6095071
Abstract: Provided is a faulty sewing detector that is, for example, mounted on an overlock sewing machine, with which an over-edge chain stitch is made in a state in which a body fabric and a sleeve fabric of a T shirt or underwear are overlapped with each other. The detector comprises a fabric twisting detecting sensor that detects a fabric twisting by determining the number of overlap of fabrics sewed which is disposed at a position corresponding to the fabric sewing area of a needle, and, behind a needle location in a sewing direction; a faulty sewing judging means that compares a fabric twisting quantity detected by the sensor, with a preset permissible fabric twisting quantity, to judge it as faulty sewing when the former exceeds the latter; and an informing means that is activated when judged as faulty sewing.

  • Patent number: 6076958
Abstract: An impeller mixer assembly is provided for stirring a radioactive material in a vessel having a combination of liquid and solid substances, until that combination turns into a liquid slurry that can be pumped out of the vessel. The impeller mixing assembly includes a folding blade assembly for stirring the radioactive material in the vessel. The folding blade assembly has a folded position when a mixing shaft assembly is not rotating, and an open position when the mixing shaft and the folding blade assembly are rotated at a predetermined speed and the folding blade assembly is submerged in the radioactive substance. A method is provided for stirring a radioactive material in a vessel having a combination of liquid and solid substances, until that combination turns into a liquid slurry that can be pumped out of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 6070496
Abstract: A chuck (25) for chucking a journal (271) of a crankshaft (27) is attached to the distal end of a main spindle (22) rotated by a drive motor. A phasing rotary shaft (53) is connected to the chuck (25) to rotate about an axis offset from the axis of the main spindle (22). The chuck (25) is provided with a coupling (63) that releasably connects the phasing rotary shaft (53) and the chuck (25). Further, a locking mechanism for locking the phasing rotary shaft (53) is provided. The coupling (63) has a pair of coupling plates (64 and 65) that can be moved closer to and farther from each other. Opposing faces of these coupling plates (64 and 65) have teeth (641 and 651), which are meshed when the coupling plates (64 and 65) are brought close to each other.
