Abstract: Water-based aerosol compositions are disclosed which contain dimethylether as propellant and include a block co-polymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide as a surfactant to retain the active ingredients in the liquid phase.
Abstract: Novel thioether compounds are disclosed which are useful as flavoring materials to enhance or impart meat-like flavors to foodstuffs. These compounds have the general formula ##STR1## where X can be, under specified conditions, --CH.sub.2 --, oxygen, or sulfur, Y can be oxygen or sulfur and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are hydrogen or 1 to 3 carbon alkyl groups.

Abstract: Use of hydrophobically modified nonionic cellulose ethers or ethylene oxide copolymers leads to improved particle size and less latex formation in suspension polymerization processes. Cellulose ethers are modified with a small amount of long chain (C.sub.6 -C.sub.25) alkyl radical. Ethylene oxide copolymer is ethylene oxide copolymerized with C.sub.6 to C.sub.24 epoxide.
Abstract: A novel method of preparing 1-crotonoyl-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexa-1,3-diene comprises treating an ester of the formula ##STR1## with a proton acid under essentially anhydrous conditions.
Abstract: Novel nitriles based on the carbon skeleton of menthane are disclosed, having the structural formula ##STR1## These compounds are useful in a variety of perfumery applications.
Abstract: Methylthiomethyl esters of aliphatic acids have been found useful in imparting or enhancing flavors in foodstuffs. They are particularly useful with respect to fruit and berry flavors.

Abstract: Easily dispersible anionic water-soluble polymers are disclosed which are prepared by lightly treating particulate water-soluble polymer with a water-soluble aluminum salt and an aluminum chelant. Rate of hydration is retarded when the particles are added to aqueous media, allowing the particles to be dispersed completely before their surfaces hydrate sufficiently to gel and prevent complete dissolution.
Abstract: Solution qualities of carboxymethyl cellulose are improved by preparing the same with cellulose which has been alkalized in the presence of a borate ion-containing salt.
Abstract: A method of producing a slub fiber is disclosed in which a metered core yarn is fed into a vortex generator and an effect yarn under continuous low level tension is fed into the balloon formed by the core yarn at the exit of the vortex generator such that the point at which the effect yarn contacts the core yarn balloon is free to move randomly, allowing the said effect yarn to form a randomized slub effect. The combined yarns are then passed through a texturing jet to more permanently bind the yarns together.
Abstract: Disclosed are copolymers of ethylene oxide and epoxy-n-alkane of 12 to 25 carbon atoms. These copolymers exhibit greater viscosity in water or in aqueous acid solutions than do ethylene oxide homopolymers of comparable molecular weight and this greater viscosity is more stable to mechanical shear.
Abstract: Novel apparatus is disclosed for deodorizing and cleansing a toilet bowl in which a fragranced detergent cake is floated on the surface of the water in the hold tank with a small volume of water on the detergent. The container holding the detergent is adapted to drop with the water as the water is exhausted during flushing and to spill the perfumed detergent containing water into the final increment of flush water leaving the tank. This water then remains in the toilet bowl after flushing.
Abstract: Oximes of propene trimers and propene tetramers are disclosed which are new compositions of matter. These oximes are useful as perfume components in, e.g., colognes and perfumes and as fragrances in detergents and cosmetics.
Abstract: Cellulose ethers containing an amount of hydroxypropyl, hydroxyethyl, or methyl radicals such that they are normally water soluble are further modified with C.sub.12 to C.sub.24 hydrocarbon radicals to a level at which they are water insoluble. These modified ethers are soluble in surfactants and effect substantial viscosity increases in solutions of surfactants. They also are highly effective emulsifiers in aqueous systems.
Abstract: Novel nitriles based on the carbon skeleton of menthane are disclosed, having the structural formula These compounds are useful in a variety of perfumery applications.
Abstract: Cellulose ethers are disclosed which have sufficient nonionic substitution to render them water soluble and which are further modified with a C.sub.10 to C.sub.24 long chain alkyl group in an amount between about 0.2% by weight and the amount which makes them less than 1% soluble in water. Hydroxyethyl cellulose is a preferred water-soluble cellulose ether for modification according to the invention. These products exhibit substantially improved viscosifying effect compared to their unmodified cellulose ether counterparts and also exhibit some surface activity.
Abstract: Novel nitriles are disclosed based on the structure of 3,7,7-trimethylbicycloheptane. These compounds are disclosed and shown to be useful as ingredients in perfume compositions.
Abstract: Oximes of propene trimers and propene tetramers are disclosed which are new compositions of matter. These oximes are useful as perfume components in, e.g., colognes and perfumes and as fragrances in detergents and cosmetics.
