  • Patent number: 5967008
Abstract: A stock stop for screw machines and the like for determining bar stock positioning and which is capable of sensing short stock. The stock stop includes a housing affixed to the machine tool having a slidable sleeve in which a threaded stop is adjustably positioned. A spring biases the sleeve and stop toward the advancing bar and the sleeve is displaced to a stop position by the advancing bar stock. Motion multiplying means multiply the sleeve movement upon engagement by the bar stock to actuate a proximity switch indicating proper advancement of the bar stock and permitting continued machine tool operation. As the components of the stock stop are encased and protected against contamination, a high degree of reliability is attained while providing accurate machine tool control with respect to the presence of adequate bar stock for machining.

  • Patent number: 5962814
Abstract: A wire harness protector having a hinged guide for controlling movement of the wire harness adjacent the protector. The protector is an open-ended trough with a hinged, latchable cover and fasteners for securing the trough to a moving surface, such as a vehicle trunk lid. The guide is hinged to an end of the trough, with a free end enabling it to swing relative to the trough. A central slot extends along a length of the guide, sized to receive a standard clip head strapped to the wire harness in a fixed position on the harness. When the surface to which the trough is secured moves, the wire harness slides relative to the trough. The clip head travels along the slot and the guide pivots relative to the end of the trough, controlling both sliding and bending movement of the wire harness.

  • Patent number: 5961344
Abstract: A connector for removably joining a plurality of electrical terminals to a flat cable. The connector has a housing containing two eccentric cams mounted on separate, parallel axes. The cams are spring biased to a closed position wherein the adjacent surfaces are relatively close together and are rotatable by a push-button actuated release mechanism to an open position wherein the surfaces are relatively far apart. An end of the flat cable is stripped of insulation to expose the conductors and is inserted through an aperture in the housing and between the adjacent surfaces of the cams from a first direction. The plurality of terminals is inserted through a second aperture and between the adjacent surfaces of the cams from the opposite direction into overlapping relationship with the flat cable.

  • Patent number: 5962170
Abstract: A method of preparing an electrochemical cell wherein the electrode material adheres to the current collector to create good electrical contact is provided. A critical aspect in the process of preparing the polymer mixture for both the anode and cathode slurries is that the polymer (or copolymer) not be subject to high shear so as to be degraded. Polymer degradation contributes to the creation of the polymer concentration gradient in the electrode film.

  • Patent number: 5961209
Abstract: An improved feed screw for injection molding machines has a metering section adjacent to the outlet having primary flights formed by a helical thread. The primary flights form primary channels therebetween for passage of the material. The primary channels are intersected by mixing flights formed by another helical thread having a hook shaped starting point extending from a main flight at the start of the metering section that continues in a general alignment with the primary flights. The mixing flights divide the primary channel into two secondary channels. The mixing flights include alternating oriented angular notches cut therethrough to provide passageway for the material between the two secondary channels to move in a general serpentine path.

  • Patent number: 5956847
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a fluid coupling apparatus for communicating fluid between a fluid hose and a heat exchanger. The present invention provides an inexpensive method for producing an integral fluid coupling apparatus that minimizes and eliminates the spacing and clearance required of bending tubular fluid lines and conduits. The method of the present invention utilizes a seamless welded tubing and compresses a portion of the tubing into a hollow rectangular configuration. During the pressing operation, a sphere is inserted into the tubing and aligned with an aperture previously formed in a wall of the tubing. When the tubing is compressed, the sphere is forced through the aperture provided in the tubing, and a raised lip or shoulder is extruded from the portion of the tubing defined in the aperture. A raised lip or shoulder is formed from the extrusion, and the raised lip is inserted through an aperture provided in a wall of the heat exchanger and rolled onto the wall of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 5957738
Abstract: An eyelet terminal is secured to the surface of a grounding member by a resilient plastic retainer passing through the eyelet and through a hole in the member. The eyelet has an annular sleeve which fits inside the hole in the member and a plurality of fingers extending radially outward from the sleeve to contact the surface of the member. After the eyelet is so positioned, the retainer is pushed through the sleeve to urge the fingers into planar contact with the surface. The retainer has a resiliently deformable flange at its lower end which is compressed inwardly as it passes through the sleeve and expands outwardly again on the opposite side of the sleeve and member, and a cap at its upper end which fits over the fingers of the eyelet to protect against contamination.

  • Patent number: 5957876
Abstract: A cervical traction device which can be used on a support surface such as a bed which applies a tractive force to the back of the patient's skull approximate to the occipital bone through the use of contoured blocks which can preferably be positioned behind the patient's head and mounted on a head rest assembly. The tractive force can be administered in a continuous cyclical or intermittent manner controlled by the patient during a cervical traction session. The device has an integrated damping system which permits return of tractive force to the patient during each cycle in a gradual fashion. This gradual return enables this unit to closely simulate cyclic, and cyclic intermittent traction performed in the more expensive in-office equipment used by physical therapists. The head rest assembly slides on the bed or similar surface and can be vertically and laterally adjusted to vary the flexion-extension angle.
