  • Patent number: 5941016
Abstract: A sporting game counting receptacle for retaining and maintaining a running count of captured game. The present invention provides a receptacle having an opening therein wherein a door is connected to the receptacle for movement between a closed position, wherein the door provides closure of the opening, and an open position, wherein a passageway is formed through the opening and into the receptacle. The door is biased toward the closed position and operatively connected to a counter wherein movement of the door from the closed position to the open position indexes the counter to provide a running count of the game placed in the receptacle. The receptacle may comprise an insulated cooler, a live well or any receptacle capable of holding captured game.

  • Patent number: 5937626
Abstract: A hand-held device for picking fruit which includes an elongated grip member and a head member connected to the elongated grip member which includes a pair of fixed immovable blades. Each blade has a cutting edge. The blades are positioned in the head in opposed planar relationship to one another so that at least a portion of each respective cutting edge is in spaced opposed relationship to the cutting edge of the other blade at a distance less than the thickness of the stem of the fruit to be picked. Picking is accomplished by a thrusting motion in which the device is held in one of the laborers hands while the fruit to be picked is grasped in the other. The device is thrust at the stem of the fruit to be picked. The pair of fixed blades guides the stem into the cutting region where the stem is severed. The fruit can be removed by the hand holding it during the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 5938257
Abstract: A power actuated parallel gripper for engaging and holding a workpiece wherein a pair of linkage assemblies actuate a pair of jaws for linear reciprocal movement thereof and prohibit unpowered movement of the jaws from the clamped position. In the preferred embodiment, the configuration of the linkage assemblies provides for the clamping of an outer diameter of the workpiece. In a second embodiment, the configuration of the linkage assemblies may be manipulated to engage the internal diameter of the workpiece. The linear movement of the jaws is guided by a guide rod having a longitudinal axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the housing. The jaws cooperatively receive the guide rod through apertures provided in the jaws, and compression springs are utilized between the ends of the guide rod and the ends of the apertures provided in the jaws to maintain the position of the guide rod between the jaws.

  • Patent number: 5928455
Abstract: A method is disclosed of making connections by gluing terminals or like components to a resistive track for a heating plate. A terminal for use in this method is also disclosed. Fine lamellae are cut out from one or more areas of the base of the terminal, which is coated with a conductive resin. The conductive resin is then dried and cross-linked to glue the terminal to the resistive track. During this step, the lamellae serve as drains to evacuate the bubbles of gas that form. Applications include heating plates for kettles or similar heating receptacles.

  • Patent number: 5928698
Abstract: The present invention is a method for producing a liquid material which has as its major constituent edible nutritional components derived from fruit of the oxalidaceae family, particularly averrhoa carambola which includes the steps of extracting liquid constituents of carambola fruit from contact with solid constituents of the fruit and subjecting the separated juices to additional post extraction processes. The carambola fruit from which the liquid constituents are extracted includes central or edible fruit portions and surrounding tough rind-like outer skin material which is integrally attached to the edible fruit portions. The extraction procedure is generally accomplished by macerating a quantity of carambola fruit material in a mixing vessel for an interval sufficient to produce a slurry which contains the liquid constituents or juices as well as solid material derived from the carambola fruit which includes both the edible fruit solids and tough rind-like outer skin.

  • Patent number: 5924545
Abstract: A rotatable shuttle transfer unit for transferring a workpiece from a first work station to a second work station along a predetermined path of travel wherein a pair of spaced carriages carry the workpiece along the predetermined path of travel and rotate the workpiece from a first angular orientation to a second angular orientation with respect to an axis of rotation. Preferably, the carriages rotate the workpiece while carrying the workpiece along the predetermined path of travel. The carriages are transported along a guiderail which extends between the first and second work stations. A continuous drive belt reciprocally drives the carriages along the guiderail wherein the continuous drive belt extends from one end of the guiderail to the opposite end of the guiderail. A vertical lift portion reciprocally moves the workpiece in a direction substantially normal to the predetermined path of travel. In addition, the carriages provide releasable power clamps for engaging and securing the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5925865
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for automatically accessing and verifying checking account status based on information contained in a bar code printed on a check, travelers check or money order. A bar code scanner reads the information contained in the bar code and, based on that information, determines a bank code and an account code. Based on the bank code or account code, a proper bank, travelers check company or money order company is automatically contacted. Checking, travelers check or money order account information is then transmitted to the proper bank, travelers check company or money order company. Account status information is received from the bank, travelers check company or money order company and displayed on the merchant's terminal. Finally, a receipt is printed with a bar code matching information on the check, travelers check or money order.

  • Patent number: 5925296
Abstract: The method and apparatus for forming a structural member from solid waste which consists of comminuting or shredding solid waste into particles one inch or smaller, adding a small amount of a thermoplastic material such as polyurethane or polyethylene to produce bonding, then heating the mixture and forcing the heated mixture through a restrictive extrusion die under high compression which forms the same in a predetermined transverse cross sectional configuration. Thereupon, the shaped compressed mixture is allowed to cool while maintaining the predetermined shape, and upon cooling, a thermoplastic cover encapsulates the compressed shaped product. The structural member is then cut into the desired lengths.

  • Patent number: 5924156
Abstract: A laundering implement is provided for cleaning an external surface of a vehicle. A plurality of spacers are supportable with respect to a path of travel for a vehicle to be cleaned and are arranged in first and second stacked or sandwiched groups of spacers for oscillating or rotating movement about a common axis of rotation or axial shifting oscillation along a common axis. The spacers are of a color different from that of the rest of the fixed structure of the laundering implement so that when the implement is in operation the moving spacers and cloth elements create an attractive and attention-getting visual effect. The colors of the spacers may be customized to suit the desires of any particular purchaser or operator of the vehicle laundry system. Each spacer has opposite complimentary faces matable with an opposing face of an adjacent spacer. A plurality of cloth elements are interposed between adjacent stacked spacers for movement in concert therewith.
