Abstract: A method for synchronizing operation of a heart assist pump device to a patient's cardiac cycle includes obtaining a signal from a motor of a heart assist pump device and filtering the signal to remove noise. The method also includes determining a speed synchronization start point at which time the motor of the heart assist pump device will begin a change in speed of operation based on the filtered signal. The method further includes modulating a speed of the motor of the heart assist pump device to a target speed at the speed synchronization start point, thereby synchronizing the change in speed of operation with a patient's cardiac cycle.

Abstract: In a terminal, a control unit transmits a bundle response signal using a resource in a basic region of an uplink control channel in an uplink unit band of a unit band group when no error is detected in each of a plurality of pieces of downlink data of the unit band group, the uplink control channel in the uplink unit band being associated with a downlink control channel in a basic unit band that is a downlink unit band in which a broadcast channel signal including information relating to the uplink unit band is transmitted, and the control unit transmits the bundle response signal using a resource in an additional region of the uplink control channel when an error is detected in each of the plurality of pieces of downlink data.
Abstract: A picture decoding method is provided for decoding coded picture data. The method includes decoding the coded picture data to obtain a reconstructed picture. The method also includes removing coding distortion in an area disposed on both sides of a block boundary between a first block and an adjacent second block in the reconstructed picture having a plurality of blocks, each block being adaptively decoded either as a field structure block, comprising only even field pixels or comprising only odd field pixels, or a frame structure block, comprising odd field pixels and even field pixels. The method further includes storing the reconstructed picture, for which coding distortion is removed, as a reference picture.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are disclosed for generating a spatial audio format. An input audio source may include one or more individual channels. The one or more individual channels may be designated to be played by a corresponding one or more speakers. The one or more individual channels of the audio source may be separated. The one or more individual tracks may be input into a modeling space representing a multi-dimensional space. The modeling space may include a plurality of emitters at various locations in a vector space. Each of the one or more individual channels may be panned to one or more of the plurality of emitters. The panning may be based on a normalized proximity of the one or more individual channels in the modeling space to the plurality of emitters. The one or more of the plurality of emitters may be encoded into a single multichannel file.

Abstract: An electronic cigarette has a housing (2) formed by a plurality of thin rolled up layers with one or more grooves (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, 6e, 6f, 6g) on an inside or outer surface of the housing (2). Abstract: A method for assisting blood circulation in a patient includes drawing a flow of blood from a patient's heart into a blood flow channel formed by a housing. The flow of blood is passed through a motor stator to a rotor disposed within the blood flow channel. The motor stator is arranged circumferentially around the blood flow channel. The rotor has permanent magnetic poles for magnetic levitation and rotation of the rotor. The motor stator is controlled to act as a radial bearing for magnetic levitation of the rotor and to rotate the rotor within the blood flow channel. The rotor is levitated within the blood flow channel in the direction of the rotor axis of rotation via passive magnetic interaction between the rotor and the motor stator. The flow of blood is output from the blood flow channel to the patient.
Abstract: Systems and devices for an adaptable blood pump are disclosed herein. The blood pump can be part of a mechanical circulatory support system that can include a system controller and the blood pump. The blood pump can include a rotary motor and a control unit that can communicate with the system controller. The blood pump can determine when communication with the system controller is established or has been lost. The blood pump can retrieve one or several back-up parameters when communication with the system controller has been lost, and can operate according to these back-up parameters.

Abstract: An implantable blood pump system is disclosed herein. The implantable blood pump system includes an implantable blood pump and a controller coupled to the blood pump. The controller includes a partially sealed housing defining an internal volume. The controller includes an energy storage component contained within the internal volume and a processor. The processor can generate one or several signals affecting operation of the implantable blood pump. The controller includes a connector receptacle including a plurality of contacts selectively coupled via a circuitry to the energy storage component. The circuitry can electrically couple the plurality of contacts to the energy storage component when a connector insert is received within the connector receptacle and deactivate the plurality of contacts from the energy storage component when the connector insert is not within the connector receptacle.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for efficient and secure “Machine-to-Machine” (M2M) between modules and servers. A module can communicate with a server by accessing the Internet, and the module can include a sensor and/or actuator. The module and server can utilize public key infrastructure (PKI) such as public keys to encrypt messages. The module and server can use private keys to generate digital signatures for datagrams sent and decrypt messages received. The module can internally derive pairs of private/public keys using cryptographic algorithms and a set of parameters. A server can use a shared secret key to authenticate the submission of derived public keys with an associated module identity. For the very first submission of a public key derived the module, the shared secret key can comprise a pre-shared secret key which can be loaded into the module using a pre-shared secret key code.
