Abstract: A thermally insulated component comprising a structure having a heated interior and an exterior, and a thermal insulating structure for thermally insulating at least a portion of the exterior of the component structure. The thermal insulating structure comprises an aqueous mixture comprising an inorganic binder and inorganic filler particles, and a fabric comprising inorganic fibers. The fabric is impregnated with the aqueous mixture so as to form a pliable binder structure. The pliable binder structure is disposed completely around at least a portion of the component structure. It can be desirable for the component to further comprise at least one thermal insulator comprising inorganic fibers, where the thermal insulator is disposed between the pliable binder structure and the exterior of the component structure.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a monitoring device comprising a test composition, a test element comprising a test portion to which the test composition is releasably adhered, a detection reagent, and a container comprising a first end with an opening and a second end opposite the first end. The test composition comprises a predetermined quantity of tracer analyte. The container is configured to receive the test portion and configured to be operationally coupled to an analytical instrument. The tracer analyte and the detection reagent each are capable of participating in one or more chemical reaction that results in the formation of a detectable product. A method of using the monitoring device to assess the efficacy of a washing process is also provided.

Abstract: A dispensing system having a treatment cartridge utilizing linear translation of the treatment cartridge within the manifold to actuate a valve to dispense a fluid. To dispense the fluid, a person pushes their glass or other container against a dispensing lever that translates the treatment cartridge within the manifold causing a cam surface on the filter's circumferential exterior to actuate a valve sending the fluid from the valve though the treatment cartridge and out a dispensing orifice in the treatment cartridge into the glass.
Abstract: This disclosure describes a computerized system for managing medical information, the system including at least one computing device configured to receive a plurality of medical documents, determine skip grams comprising tokens for the plurality of medical documents, wherein each of the skip grams comprises one or more tokens of at least one of the medical documents, and populate a trie data structure based on the skip grams. The at least one computing device is further configured to prune the plurality of nodes of the trie based on one or more criteria to produce a pruned trie of nodes, determine rules for associating medical billing codes with the skip grams of the pruned trie of nodes based on pointwise mutual information, and output the determined rules.
Abstract: Organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays having an emissive OLED layer and a nanostructured interface configured to reduce variability of color with view angle are described. An optical stack having first and second layers with differing refractive indices includes the nanostructured interface between the first and second layers. The second layer is disposed between the first layer and the emissive OLED layer. The nanostructured interface has a substantially azimuthally symmetric power spectral density (PSD) and a wavenumber-PSD product has a maximum for a wavenumber larger than 6 radians/micrometer times the refractive index of the second layer. For all wavenumbers lower than 6 radians/micrometer times the second refractive index, the wavenumber-PSD product is no more than 0.3 times the maximum.

Abstract: A conformable wound dressing system that includes a wound dressing and a dressing support layer. The wound dressing includes a backing having two major surfaces and a perimeter that includes first and second lateral edges, an adhesive disposed on one major surface of the backing and the dressing support layer removably mounted on the other major surface. The dressing support layer includes juxtaposed first and second sections that define a gap between them. Each section comprises a medial portion and at least four spokes extending therefrom toward a lateral edge. The at least four spokes include two outer spokes and at least two spaced-apart inner spokes. At least two of the at least four spokes of each section extend beyond the lateral edge to form peripheral support layer tabs.
Abstract: A method of purifying a biological composition includes: disposing loose cationic ligand-functionalized staple fibers and a biological composition within a mixing volume of a vessel; agitating the biological composition and the loose cationic ligand-functionalized staple fibers while they are in intimate contact with each other within the mixing volume to provide modified fibers and a purified biological composition; and separating at least a portion of the purified biological composition from the modified fibers and any loose cationic ligand-functionalized staple fibers with which it is in contact. The loose cationic ligand-functionalized staple fibers have a modified surface layer comprising a grafted acrylic polymer comprising 10 to 100 percent by weight of a cationically-ionizable monomer unit. An article for purifying a biological composition includes: a vessel having a mixing volume disposed therein; and the loose cationic ligand-functionalized staple fibers disposed within the mixing volume.
