  • Patent number: 9383315
Abstract: Sensor structure (16) is provided for online monitoring of levels of Furans in oil of a transformer tank. The sensor structure includes a UV light source (26), a filter (30) permitting only UV light of a certain wavelength range to pass, a window (32) permitting the filtered UV light to passes there-through and a UV light detector (36) to receive UV light that passes through the window. When the sensor structure is mounted to the transformer tank that is online so that the window is exposed to oil, and Furans in the oil are being monitored, the Furans will absorb UV light, creating a difference in UV light received by the light detector when compared to the UV light received by the light detector when the monitored oil has no Furans therein. The output signal of the light detector is substantially proportional to a total of Furans in the monitored oil.

  • Publication number: 20160187454
Abstract: Invention provides a system and method for separating sound from an object of interest from its background and condition monitoring system and mobile phone using the same. The sound separating system includes a sound source localizing part, including at least one microphone and a processing unit, and an object direction reference determination part, determining, as object direction reference, information on directions of the object of interest with respect to the sound source localizing part; wherein the processing unit obtains information on a direction from which sound arrives at the sound source localizing part from the sound source by using microphone signal, and comparing it with the object direction reference so as to filter the sound from the background of the sound source. By having the sound separating system, it can extract the background noise from a specific device respective location and analyse only these signals from the object of interest.

  • Patent number: 9379654
Abstract: A method of estimating inductances and flux linkages of an electrical machine supplied with drive currents via current regulators. Drive current values are measured and fed back to the regulators for closed-loop control. The method includes providing one current regulator with an alternating current value either for a direct axis current reference i*d or for a quadrature axis current reference i*q of the machine current vector, while providing another current regulator with a predetermined direct current value for the remaining one of the two current references i*d and i*q. After a predetermined time, a varying signal is superimposed onto an output signal generated by the current regulator in response to the AC value. Finally, a contribution signal, which corresponds to the contribution of the superimposed varying signal to the drive currents, is determined, and the machine inductances and flux linkages are estimated on the basis of the contribution signal.

  • Patent number: 9337662
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for performing the estimation and/or prediction of the dynamic system state of large power system networks, using a multi-processor approach. More particularly, a large power system network is divided into smaller sub-systems, each sub-system having associated dynamic state variables. Each sub-system is assigned to one or more of a plurality of processing elements, and dynamic state variables for each sub-system are estimated or predicted independently, using the processing elements and sensor measurements. In several embodiments, the dynamic state of each sub-system is computed through the construction of a set of dedicated observers, such as linear parameter-varying (LPV) observers, which are designed to reduce the effects of other sub-systems on the state estimation problem.
